This is aboard the NEW vessel, Queen Mary II, not the original QM now in Long beach. Listen to the voice-over intro at the beginning of this vid clip. The 'Moonlight Serenade' DVD explains this quite well, as well as showing scenes filmed throughout the ship.
My FAVORITE version of this romantic song. She has always been talented, but she outdoes herself with this one! No moonlight serenades for me, but I still can't get enough of this track.
Someone put another video of this on utube that had beautiful moon photos from major landmarks from all over the world. I wasn't sure if it was really Carly singing.

The lyrics to "Moonlight Serenade" were added later, by Mitchell Parrish, after Glenn Miller crafted this great song. I have read that the melody was originally intended as a musical exercise for his band members and became the trademark song of The Big Band Era...
