  • i go to this school!

    lol its really fun

    i graduate next year

i actually got into juliard next year in the fall

  • Very funny. It looks like a real reality show.

  • I GO TO THIS HIGHSCHOOL!

  • @PurpleHaze6418 really ???? nice..

  • gsdfgsdfgsdhfsjadfgh !

  • iz this aout the book drama high?

  • Wow...the gayness level is at an all time high. How are a bunch of guys fighting tooth and nail for parts in a school musical...lol. Oh I must play the Lion I must I must!....totally gay. How are so many gay guys all in one place? Usually theres a bunch of girls and one gay kid in drama. Try a little pussy guys and the fact that you didn't get to play the scarecrow won't seem so bad. Jesus Christ...man up.

  • Why do you have a problem with guys doing what they enjoy doing? It's 2009: stop living in the past where guys just play football and chase girls. If they enjoy musicals thats good for them and it doesn't mean they're gay.

  • Oh Sorry I wrote that comment in 2008 when having interest in musicals and failing to pursue women was the very definition of gay. So much has changed in these last 24 hours.

  • the definition of gay is being attracted to members of the same sex. you are the definition of a judgmental ignorant piece of shit.

  • You should have auditioned. You seem a big enough douche to get any part you so desired. It's crap like this that encourages the demasculization of male america. If I was a father to a son who wanted to be in this play I'd give him a swift kick in his ass and tell him to get out of the house looking for a job.

  • What year are you living in? Just like women can now be in any profession, so can men. You can live by stereotypes, that's good for you; but you can't make fun of people for doing what they want to do.

  • I told you I'm living in 2008. Yes we live in a country and a time that lets people do whatever they want fortunately it also has first ammendment rights in place that protect my desire to make fun of them.

  • So you don't see a problem with making fun of other people's interests? What if YOU liked to something more feminine like fashion or even singing?

  • Not really....I can't say I like anything thats decidedly considered feminine....However if I did I'd have to accept the fact that a little abuse goes with the territory. I suppose I could give your point of view this much consideration....I'm willing to accept the fact that there is a small possibility SOME of these guys joined drama cause it was a good way to interact with the girls.

  • WTF is next a damned dolly and a pink dress, good God almighty!

  • I agree tolplazahero this shit is pure emo fagotry. Good god what happened to my country.

  • This COUNTRY was founded on the ideals of freedom and equality. You discriminating against people who simply enjoy musical theatre is UNAMERICAN. I bet you or or parents were one of those bigoted racists who didn't want to integrate schools back in the 60's.

These kids are much braver than you. They may not play football or do stunts on their bikes like you probably did, but they're brave enough to be open about what they enjoy.

  • yea lets all shove a tampon up our ass and read some T.S. Elliot. Those "bigoted racist" won a war against tyrany, stood down communism, survived The Great Depression...ect. Pussy assed 21st century America could never handle that. Get ready to pray facing Mecca but hey at least they have a pair.

  • thank god someone who understands what I'm talking about!...lets start our own militia ironhard and save our country.

  • Your logic is extremely flawed. You and tollplazahero need to understand that TIMES CHANGE. women can vote. we have colored people getting educated with white people. If you lived in the 19th century, you probably would've been arguing that blacks shouldn't fight in the military and that pussy 19th century America could never handle fighting the British.

  • I go to school with the people in this video and I can tell you first hand they're more "American" than you'll ever be because they don't hate other people because they're different. That's EXACTLY what you're doing.

And your racist comment about our president is extraordinarily ignorant and offensive. If you don't like the leader of this country, then get the fuck out.

  • What did I say about Barrack Obama? He's the President Of The United States....Period! Tell ya what though, I would love to see you try and throw me out of America.....LOL! I would eat your ass alive!

you liberals love to say "racist" and "bigot" fuck you you lil maggots!. i would eat you alive you lil shit for brains!

  • Shit for brains? Yeah, that's why I just beat you in an intellectual debate. The fact that you have to resort to petty threats just shows how stupid and wrong you really are.

Do everyone a favor and go back to screwing your cousin, shooting animals with your shotgun, and reminiscing about the "good ol' days" you conservative, discriminatory, red neck.

  • I'm in the middle of watching this right now. Congrats to everyone in the show!

I'm really glad the school decided to portray this musical. Some of the talented Caucasian students were upset because the main reason they didn't get a lead was because they weren't African-American. I think it's good they can experience at least one musical production where they are the minority because Caucasian students are favored in the majority of the other musicals out there.

    (cont.)

  • I'm Asian-American and I did theater throughout MS & HS. Since many of the musicals were set in an earlier time period, the directors were always keen on casting the Caucasians for the leads.

Aside from favoritism & typecasting, the directors wanted to stay away from the subject of race so much that even minor Asian roles were given to Caucasian students (because they didn't want to offend the Asian-American students... wtf?) and didn't want to cause controversy by producing "West Side Story."

  • My opinion is that public high schools should just cast based on talent. There should be no racism and no reverse racism. It sounds like the director is a little touchy about reverse-racism playing a part in the casting.

  • my skooll!!

    goo bulldogs.:]

  • I have to say as a former theatre student and a theatre major in college with a theare degree who now teaches theatre I have to say that I am not sure how I feel about doing this type of production. I understand wanting to unite everyone but why not do a show that has a bigger lead cast.

  • We watched this documentary in theater class today. Very interesting.

  • oh wow... that's my old highschool! I thought my husband was sadly misinformed when he said they were filming something about the musical... very cool!

  • I agree. I just want to see the finished product! It looked so cute!

  • this was very good on 20/20 I wish i could see the whole musical

  • this is the only westfield high school play i ever went to. it was really good, though, so its going to be cool to see all this on TV tonight

  • I saw this show, and reviewed it for Cappies so i guess some of the intensity is lost for me but i am stil going to watch it. Anything to support my fellow Thesps!

  • That's my highschool, and I was tech for this production!

  • I wish I was there...I was a coach on one of the teams there 2 years ago and Martina happened to be one of my athletes. she can go very far in whatever she puts her heart too.

best believe I will be glued to this special when it airs on Monday! GO MARTINA!

  • Great point CvilleWcat. BTW, no coincidence, he didn't direct SoPac (Summer '08), the best WHS musical in years.

  • Quote from WHS director in this week's local paper: "I also believe that gaining this national recognition is a testament to the kind of community theater department I've been building since the school opened in fall 2000." He must not have received enough attention as a child - isn't this supposed to be about the kids, not him?

  • that is mean.

  • I saw this production and it truly WAS amazing. One of my most favorite shows I've seen of Westfield Theater. These kids are truly amazing - I've seen a few of them in other productions over the past 3 years. Truly talented, great kids. I can't wait for the 20/20 show!

  • haha seriously? hypocrite.

    this was an amazing show.

oh, way to prove your immaturity by wishing abuse onto others. You're such a wonderful human.

  • the production was amazing (:

  • wow... you obviously aren't in theatre then. We DO break out into song and dance every 5 minutes, it's what we do, that makes a normal day for us. and really... immature, did you read your own comment??

and 'randomrainbows345'... really? you call us 'faggets'? ya... try spelling SOMETHING right next time.

  • So who's the immature one again?

  • So proud and excited for you guys! glad to see Bohemian Rhapsody lives on :D

    Westfield Theatre <3!

  • Was the cast selection process based on who were the best-qualified students (acting, singing, etc.) or some other criteria to play up to the ABC Special?

  • actually, i go to this school. and when you are in theatre, you do break out into song and dance every 5 minutes. grow up, and go to hell.

Also, I remember the nsync thing. I think we sang golddigger right after.

But overall, this is the most overly epic and dramatic telling of this story I could have imagined.
