I am nervous about getting LASIK eye correction done. I kept on can't decide on/off. B/c being deaf is enough. if they fuck it up i am screwed and end up blind and deaf....so I don't know what to do, should i go ahead or wait til I am old granny?
@spicychick1987 I am actually quite def but I don't wear a hearing aid. I get away with it.
I was quite blind, -6.0 and -4.5. For me the risk was well worth taking and I certainly don't regret it. The risk of wearing contact lenses was greater because I used to get the odd infection. The choice is yours. I did it. I love it.
i am 18 and have short vision so i am required to wear long distance glasses for driving. if i get laser eye surgery ill be able to see what i see through my glasses.
@AKBeazBoi Not exactly. When you have short sightedness and you wear glasses, things actually appear smaller. Don't worry about why but it is more like when you wear contact lenses because the lens is on your eye and not 2cm away from your eye. Basically it is WAY better than wearing glasses.
I had the surgery 2 months ago after wearing glasses and contacts for the last 15 years. My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner! Yes my eyes were sore for a couple of hours after the surgery but by evening time I was ecstatic with my HD vision
LOL i have terrible eyes, like REALLLLLY bad and i dont even wear my glasses. and i love seeing everything in bad vision since it makes girls look hotter
Do not put your children into glasses! This is the start of the institutionally-caused blindness called "myopia". Glasses make a child's eyesight worse year after year. We've all been had, basically. There is a website called my oh pee uh dot org Check it out.
@bagginshates I actually agree. I was even told when I was younger, that if I wore glasses when I was a kid, I wouldn't have to when I was older. I really think that 'they' don't know enough about kids losing their site and I would for sure agree that wearing glasses too much can lead to worsening.
I love how people are so negative about the risks and possible effects! 3 years is amazing!! Obviousily after my surgery, I did not feel different, I even tried explaining to my family how I feel, I'm still speechless! Congratulations :) 7 months anniversary lol for me :)
do eye exercises. what surgeons dont tell you is that myopia is down to inflexable eyesight. your eyes need depth perception and freedom to adjust to stimuli. lasik is not guaranteed to be safe for everyone, is not guaranteed to prevent myopia in future and is far less cost effective than eye exercises. you learn to become a better person rather than being restricted to an imture pr*t like this guy in this video.
hi! i'm a 15 year-old girl who wear glasses. My mom wants me to do the Lasik eye surgery when i'm old enough. I REALLY don't want to wear glasses anymore, but to be honest, i am TERRIFIED of surgeries. Please tell me EVERYTHING: does it hurts? if so, how bad does it hurt? how long did it took? please i really need advise right now. I'm terrified! I'm scared of the pain and i'm scared that if the surgery fail, i'd be blinded, or have to dail with some unbearable pain. please help! D=>

It doesn't hurt and the risks are very small. I hated wearing glasses too and I am soo glad that I don't need to now. I think you have to wait until you are 18years old though.
@TheTwilightSagaHeart I'm a 15 year old guy who's been wearing contacts for 2 years and would like to ask why you don't try them instead off LASIK? If you wear monthly soft lenses you don't even feel them in your eye and once you get used to putting them in it's easy (I was TERRIFIED of touching my eyes before wearing contacts but I learnt how to put them in in a week). Plus you can get them in cool colors- I don't see any reason why you should need to jump straight to surgery :)
@JermzzzyFTW my mom hates glasses. And she dont want me to wear contacts. She keeps going ON AND ON about how bad contacts can be to my eyes... i wouldn't mind wearing them, but she wouldn't let me...
it's been like a year now, that she talks about me, getting lasik. =/
she's making me nuts, but i thought "if that'd make her happy (and shut up for a while), why the hell not! =)"
Doesn't your mom know there's a 33.3% risk that your eyesight could be permanently damaged for the rest of your life by having Lasik? Many people have taking their own lives due to the psychological depression that can develop after an unsuccessful surgery. For safety's sake, I would strongly urge you to seriously look into cornea moulding technology as a 'no risk' alternative to this. There are reasons most ophthalmologists won't have this procedure done on themselves.
@Msunbird02 yeah... i know there're lots of risks. I don't wanna do it... i've spend the whole month beging my mom not to force me into it. Well, she's cool, now. Thank god for that! O.o
Good for you to stick to your guns ... and being a smart one at that! I assure you that contacts are much better and safer than this surgery which should be banned imo. No matter what, pls do NOT let anyone - including your mom - "force" you into having this done to yourself when it isn't necessary. ;)
@TheTwilightSagaHeart you can fix your eyesight naturally- I do eye exercises and so did my great grandpa and he never had to wear glasses- don't listen to your mom
@IceyNightmare my mom's not forcing me anymore. My eyes are getting worse and worse everyday.... At school, even though i wear glasses, i can't see the blackboard anymore.... O.o
i'm going to get contacts, but that's not before 6 months......
@TheTwilightSagaHeart here is kinda the stuff i do just type Yoga eye exercise. it looks retarded so don't do it in public lol but yeah it improves your focusing in far sight and near sight. try it for a month or two
I had the LASIK surgery myself just over a year ago. Still getting a bit of light sensitivity if it's really bright outside, only very occasionally getting dry-eyed now but nowhere near as bad as it used to be.
Best decision I have ever made.
Also Mark, I dunno if you ever thought about this, but have you noticed that the most satisfying thing about not having to wear glasses anymore is that you can just flop face-down into bed?
@BYERE So true! The other one I love is that when you drink tea, you don't steam up! But actually yours is the best. I get light sensitive but I always did. I have heard that people with Blue eyes are more light sensitive anyway. All dark skinned people have brown eyes...
To be honest though, I'm REALLY glad I didn't have problems and have to go for a second bout of the surgery. First time was scary enough, having to see everything that happened (I don't know about your experience, but the doctor told me the eye drops would make it so it was like looking through water... It wasn't >.<
I just want to tell you thanks for your two videos. I'm going in for my consultation later today and if all goes well the surgeon has an open appointment on Friday morning.
It'll be over $5000, but for my eyes it's worth the price. Getting the best doctor in the state and a custom wavelength procedure... Dr. Slade is one of the three that performed the first LASIK in the US and has performed the procedure on over 400 other eye doctors. If they trust him, I certainly trust him.
I am pleased to hear you are satisfied with the procedure. Many people who are getting tired of contacts and glasses are thinking of going through the procedure, however, they are having second thoughts. Videos like this will help them decide if it's good for them.
by the way just wanted to find out did your eyes get senstive or still senstive now. i heard some people say that after the surgery their eyes got extra senstive for e.g even when the wind blow their eyes will water or extra senstive to it.
also at night time does it affect your eyesight and the way lights look?
@jaimemakeup My eyes were light sensitive for a while but I got used to it, well my eyes did. Now they are all fine! Went surfing earlier and still love the fact that I can see!
i found your video really imformative but i wondered did they tell you how long the laser eye surgrey results last for? isit forever or will you need glasses in the future?
@jaimemakeup It will last forever! BUT they do say they it won't stop 'old age long sightedness'. They did make this clear to me. Maybe because I was so inquisitive because I was short sighted and thought that my sight would have got better as I got older...not the case according to them and hence why you will always need the reading glasses when you get old. :o(
i just had mine done 3 days ago :) very expensive but worth it ;)
