  • He still has the same energy and dancing style despite his age.... this is the only time I have seen him wearing a shirt though

  • Who the fuck is David Buoy?

  • Dave doesn't know pop culture

  • bland

  • This is not iggy , whoever is singing has a shirt , iggy does not wear shirts

  • Hey Steve Jordan on drums no wonder Jim was having such a good time wow that man can move !

  • Paul Schaeffer was killing those keyboards!

  • One day you will buy car insurance because of this man! Christ what next , Johhny Rotten flogging butter? They all sell out eventually!

  • Just hilarious!!!

  • sacha baron cohen on drugs

  • I love this guy. He takes control of the conversation and is intelligent, witty, and really funny!

Makes me laugh how, when asked about his relationship with Bowie, he says, "What part do you wanna know?" LOL (everyone thought they were lovers) Truth is, Bowie saved him from total destruction.

He is one of the music world's best performers and really a tough and lucky guy.

    Thanks for uploading this.

  • cutie

  • wow, I love it, only met the dude once, but so happy that this interview actually catches the guy that I met, iggy rules

  • Iggy is...

  • Pop=Legend

    Letterman=Imbecile

  • I love it when the crowd laughs at my non-jokes just because they are ready for a laugh. At 6:43, David laughed because he thought Iggy misspoke perineum? which I thought odd... so I looked it up and learned a new word today, "proscenium" is the actual term for the end of the stage facing the audience. Iggy was showing off his vocabulary... which was done with great success I might add

  • He's so FUCKING cool! He makes all eccentric musicians look like puny humans.

  • Iggy Pop looks like Anthony Kiedis to me. Oh wait, Anthony Kiedis looks like Iggy Pop.

  • @Leonakita LOL! :)

So, how about Dave's hair on this?!? Guess he didn't realize that the 70s were over...

  • fantastic. wonderful.

  • Copied by so many now days. It's all been done.

  • Thisis sooo bad Jim......even with the passing of 30 years this doesn't get any better..that's sayin'something..oh well ..you can't be brilliant all the time.

  • @PAULLONDEN Oh, come off it

  • I went to Iggy dance school , but failed miserably, garnering only a D-

  • Pity audio's off.

  • The boy has got style, and pretty cool with it too, viva England!

  • I wonder if Anthony Kiedis is into Iggy. He sure reminds me of him. Modern day Iggy

  • @MacDisel1 Oh he is. There's audio up somewhere of them doing I Wanna Be Your Dog together, and RHCP cover Search and Destroy.

  • who said white boys can't dance-

  • paul schaefer on keyboard.cool

  • I wanna dance like Iggy

  • @420mota1 I went to Iggy Pops dance school , but failed miserably, garnering only a D- . Its a difficult study

  • David Letterman likes Iggy or he wouldnt have had him on his show so many times.

  • Boey....Boey......BOEY!!?????

  • the arogance of letterman pisses me the fuck off

  • regarding the early letterman band: an opinion i ve held for decades: have you ever seen such a band that can kick ass supporting a visiting artist? seriously there are very few if any bands that a guest artists has the house band play. as a drummer i remember being influenced by the drummer ins this band . i loved his tight snare sound with distinct 'attack' only drummers will get what that means. cheers in lieu of applause for this band!

  • @Stinky95030 Until you mentioned this I actually thought this was iggys band

  • @Stinky95030 its funny you say that about the drummer. The bass player (Will Lee) was an early influence on my playing as well.

  • Iggy always wins

  • other than the eye makeup, this dude look and acted way ahead of his time

  • Iggy Pop went through 107 women after this show... My Aunt was 103 in line.

  • it is interesting to see how much more real iggy is than dave. dave was in full carson imitation mode with fake tv voice and manner. iggy was bringing reality - he was showing real emotion. it is like iggy was in a time machine. like he came from the future.

  • SPANK DAT BASS'S ASS

  • was this rap before rap?

  • @teden20 This wasn't before rap.

  • @teden20 Rap started in the 70s Get with it !

  • wow, this is really goofy....and intense!!!!!1.........paul shaffer and pops buddies are really kicking up a stew.....the recorded version of this song sounds so restrained and cerebral compared to this!

  • OMG looks like stuart from MAD TV

  • @marvolomethod TOTALLY

  • that was awesome. you see that band digging it behind him?

  • Freak x10 and then some.

  • Iggy doesn't do drugs, he eats drugs.

  • @1stSaintsFan eats = is

  • @y3ko86 Good to hear from the James Osterberg Jr. Police. Glad you are on the job, jumping up and down on all the people who post.

  • Iggy incognito? (shirt)

  • he thought maybe they'd like some company! hahahaha i love you iggy for your honesty

  • David Buoy?

  • Best Jim Morrison impression ever.

  • @Allrightteam David Letterman looks nothing like Jim Morrison!!

  • Who cares about how much dope anybody did? It's just brilliance in the rock and roll timeline.

  • If you're high.....Iggy is the best dancer of all time

  • my boyfriend is like him. ohhh tomorrow I'll make him a blue make-up... love!

  • He is sooooooo sexy!!!!

  • Except Iggy was more real.

    Albeit real created by drugs

  • Gotta dig that man's dancing.

And that all he's gotta do is wear a shirt and people are freaked out.

I know he typically doesnt...but Iggy plays by the rules sometimes when he feels it's beneficial.

Iggy and Bowie both have the same kind of transition story if you think about it.

Drugs of course....but the different characters they portrayed throughout the years is what i noticed.

  • I'm sure he did a lot of coke with Bowie.

  • Lol edmonton... albertuh

  • so, he knocked out his tooth in rehearsal here and had to have a new tooth put in, sans novacaine, just prior to this performance? epic.

Also- seeing Paul & the band having so much fun rocking out with Iggy Pop is awesome. Thanks for posting.

  • @TheCosmicFluke No here Iggy has had his tooth knocked for at least a few years here, he was talking about a cap. Watch the Tom Snyder video with Iggy, that was '77 and he did't even have a cap in, and that interview is very funny!

  • "Zombie Birdhouse" is a really underrated album

  • David Booey.

  • @RussianDrummer92 Funny statement ..hoe ? ...a gardening implement ?...do rappers even do gardening ?

    Just asking.

  • HAHAHAHHAHAH HIS HAIR

  • ignorant people writing stupid things right here are like the stupid people laughing at Iggy on that show.

  • its funny. all the music put out a year or two before i was born seems to be the best shit.hhmmmm.

  • love iggy!! hes so cool and funny.

  • "Yeah, I was reared." HA HA HA!

  • Those jeans are tight enough... i'll forgive him for the shirt.

  • @RussianDrummer92 Go fuck yourself.

  • Iggy's Body is amazing

  • Love his eye make-up :)

  • Man that was 1 of the best cool talks ever. IgGy with Dave... & I think I have seen most. Bravo. Mr POp

  • IgGY Still Cooking after all these yrs.

  • Trailor Park Brain.

  • Fuck Elvis!!

Iggy Pop is the king of Rock n Roll.

  • Really a great performance, and a great interview. Thanks for posting!

  • SHIRT?

  • I LOVE THIS

  • that wasnt nice about the chubby girls.

  • love at 12:30 how he just gave Dave the diss !

  • wild man !

  • Letterman didn't even look at Iggy when he shook his hand at the end of the interview. What an ignorant prick!

  • @Shanga68 cus Lettermans is so full of himself, he was scared that he`d be getting bumholed later that night if he met Iggy eye to eye.

  • @Shanga68 You read Letterman wrong. After the applause started for break, notice Letterman leaning in to Iggy for some close one-on-one. If he didn't like him he wouldn't have done that.

  • @Shanga68 Actually, he needed to send it to commercial break. He clearly likes Iggy Pop. So who's the ignorant prick?

  • @felliniherzog It's still Letterman who's the prick! Ha ha..

  • @felliniherzog Who the heck doesn't like Iggy, man? That's like not liking wild crazy music!

  • Thanks for the posting...we are so lucky to have youtube...I miss paying $20 for a VHS copy of each interview like the old days.

  • yum yum yum yum!

  • Those boots are sick!

  • letterman started in '82 how is this 81?

  • For 6 or 9 months I tried to get Zombie Birdhouse, from Toronto to Amsterdam, Sydney to Santa Claus, and nada in the world did I get : one day the no doubt remastered version will be released upon the world once more. Until then it's ...

  • @Lieu3C4 i found a "out of print" used copy last year,

i was on the same mission as you, and when i found it

i put at least 5 CDs back and picked mine up for 5.99, best

gem of that summer, although part of "the villagers" skips, its

    fine with me.

  • have Iggy all this great tshirt left?

  • how long has the letterman show been on for ..i mean this is 30 yrs old and its still goin

  • Edmonton Alberta, Canada, punkest northern haven...

  • Is that Paul Shaffer on keyboard jamming ?

  • Is that Paul Shaffer on keyboard rocking ?

  • Iggy Pop & Patti Smith started things original and were visionaries!!! Every band out there owes them tremendous respect!

  • He looks like Anthony Keidis' dad, lol...

  • So many people, stole so many things from iggy, but hes the only one who makes it look real and not some put on.

  • @MrPentatonics4life well and Iggy didn't make it all either. He got alot of 'biz' tutilage from David Bowie. But it's all circular anyways. INteresting eye shadow.

  • @oatstao Iggy got his "biz" long before Bowie. He'd been recording hugely influential (if not hugely successful) albums since the late 60's, and had even been serouisly considered as a replacement lead for label mates the Doors after the death of Jim Morrison. No doubt Bowie helped revive his career, influenced his music and likely taught him a thing or two about professionalism, but there was still an Iggy long before Ziggy.

  • @Blackboilingrobotoil Bowie has been a musician since the 1950's. Bowie's first recording released as a single came out in 1964...It was called "Liza Jane", and it was when he was the leader of the band> Davie Jones & The King Bees. His first Classic song came out in 1969(Space Oddity). His Classic song "Changes" came out in 1971. All ^THIS^ before Ziggy.

  • @Blackboilingrobotoil So my point it, there was Bowie music(including Great Classic Music) long before he created Ziggy Stardust.

  • @oatstao You have to have the personality, which is the foundation, the soul ... in that context, what does "Iggy didn't make it all either" even mean ?

  • that shirt is photoshopped.

  • whhhhaaat ?

    he's wearing a shirt?

  • @OurEndlessSummerDays track marks

  • @OurEndlessSummerDays Yeah what's with the shirt? :-)

  • Great interview. Iggy, we love ya!

  • He looks like a fag. Is that what the masses really want?

  • @InsanityHere yes

  • @InsanityHere Well, hopefully they don't want people who make ignorant comments like yours. It's of little interest to me whether someone is gay, straight, or bi. How people behave towards one another is what really matters.

  • @InsanityHere No *looks at page* We all what vids of bike rides and cars, which is massively interesting

  • Everybody acts like Iggy's some kind of freak. We've all heard about the dope, but he really comes off to me as a polite, earnest guy from the midwest. Who rocks his ass off.

  • i have a bootleg collection ...your pretty face is going to hell ... contains live in toronto ... for zombie birdhouse tour ... i have live in new york ... great great ... i love platoni song ... thank iggy

  • fantastic iggy pop ... i have ... album original first press ... of zombie birdhouse and live recording in 2 album ... i love this part .... iggy = legend

  • @porchdog1961 No, everything that is not normal, and thus is weird, should be evicted from society. Everyone should wear different uniforms to identify different wealth statusses. Iggy Pop is a prime example of what is wrong with society, he is different and doesnt conform and therefore is wrong!

  • @squirtleenblastoise ugh.... what a boring comment..

this comment is like someone saying "IMAGINE ALL THIS MONEY WAS REAL" during a game of monopoly ;)

  • @amchris66 in case you didnt notice, sarcasm.

  • @squirtleenblastoise hah.. you must be intensely stupid

  • love him !

  • He has SO much energy!

  • Dave can be such a nerd

  • this is fuckin great

  • Iggy kicks ass with the house band!!! I remember watching this back then and being amazed by it. Thanks Dave Iggy and Paul...too bad its outta sync :(

  • wait...these aren't the stooges!

  • you can tell how close he was to his dad and how much he admires him ... its so sweet and endearing ... well jimmy just is all over anyways x)

  • Does anybody else think Iggy looks like mad tv's Michael MacDonald in this video?

  • Great material! Thank you!
