I performed this earlier this week and am singing it again next week at a carol service - we sing the same arrangement heard here however the ladies sing the parts taken by the boys at Kings'. It's very unusual for a Christmas Carol, particularly the tremendously dark tone it takes at the third verse, and its references to crucifixion, resurrection and so on.

I just love the crisp flut-like/glockenspiel accompaniment by the organ scholar! The singing is great, too (of course!)
