  • For others.. One of the big myths and major barriers to SSD adoption is the myth of low write endurance. Write endurance is the number of write cycles to a block of flash memory. This implies that writing larger chunks of information to your SSDs sustains them better than writing millions of small chunks. The fear is that over time SSDs will become unrealiable due to the limited number of write cycles per block.. Do your homework, google the myths and debunk them for yourselves.

  • 2 GB/s is really slow.

I get 5-6 GB/s with my normal server hard drives (no SSD)...

  • @aronsystem You are wrong, a normal harddisk is 50 to 125 mbps. Because it has sata 600 does not mean you can get 5-6 GB/s

  • SDD have limited use and then they start to get slower and slower untill you end up back at hdd speed lol.

  • @SuperMangn That's total bullshit, I manage a bunch of SS Servers running SQL Database and they are WAY faster than Mechanical hard drives. Hell a macbook air is faster than the most beefed up Gaming PC if the PC runs on dinosaurs mechanical drives.

  • @BrawndoScream Take a look at your sdd`s write endurance rating, what does it say ?

  • @SuperMangn We're in 2012, you do know also Plasma tv's don't get burn-ins anymore. We rent and use only server grade equipment. And there's absolutely no comparison at all in I/O speed, which result in fluid and fast interface to the customers. Same goes for my Air, damn last benchmark I got 210/240 Write/Read in sequential. Mechanical hard drives are soon to be instinct, but I understand that resistance to change is a natural human reaction.

  • the hacker dream machine! fast to encrypt! fast to compile! fast to decrypt! download the 2TB rainbow table and tell me how it preforms ;)

  • can i buy it plz get back

  • and it was in windows Vista too LOL

  • y did u use so big psu's? one of the drives has just 5watts!

  • Awesomeness 2= Mac Pro 12 core + 24 Samsung 830 (530 mbps) around 6 gb read speed lol.

  • I find it funny how many people say benchmarks and defrags ruin it and crap.

Yeah it will if you do it all freakn day over and over again.

Its like saying "driving out of state for a vacation will ruin your car"

The extra 2,000 miles on a car that gets 200,000 miles is NOTHING.

You know what ruins SSDs? NOT using them!

  • imagine the Macintosh version... :D

  • @oep308 IT wil cost 10 times more

  • Comment removed

  • lol vista.

  • i wana see a hakintosh version!!

  • too expensive...

SSD for programs + HDD for file storage is enough for me

  • bloody...

  • lol vista

  • FREAKS

  • All that speed, and still no clue as how to do a simple field-reverse. Jesus fellas, learn basic video editing 101. ht t p : / / l mgtfy.com/?q=digital+fact+book

  • Epic

  • thing i wanted to see, starting up photoshop, startup of windows, loading times of various games including crysis.

  • he has a nice leatherman multitool xP

  • What IT guy defrags a SSD? much less 24 of them!?

  • Wait a second, how is the speed of the solid state drives making usb or whatever faster, and are they controlling the graphics?

  • @OnlyVideoGuyOnEarth Lol what the hell makes you think the SATA/RAID Controller has anything to do with the graphics...

  • @GhostXoP That's what I was asking. They were showing off how well Crysis ran on a high resolution, and I thought that mostly depended on the CPU and GPU

  • @OnlyVideoGuyOnEarth Oh i see, well it could mean how fast the game loads and plays. (possibly how fast textures load) but i see that being a ram problem, and they have enough ram as it is.

  • is he going to sell that PC?

well, I want to buy it

  • Why not try it with windows 7 now? It could be faster in my opinion

  • @GhostXoP the video-well I mean that pc is two year old mar 2, 2009.

windows 7 (retail) was released on october 22, 2009.

  • @jayesh1744 I understand that, but now that you think of it, there wouldnt be much difference.

I was considering redo with 7?

  • @GhostXoP ye

  • 489 people can't affords SSD's

  • @BrawndoScream Terrible reason for dislikes. Should be "489 people are stupid" since 75% of people can't afford SSDs or realize they aren't worth buying yet for how fast they're advancing.

  • youtube.com/watch?v=-Ojm5eY-i_Q

  • Did anyone else notice that the song is a special one singing about the highlights of this build?

  • Here's a thought for even more insane speed. Wait for a duel proc board for the LGA 2011 form to come out. Should have support for 96 PCIE 3.0 lanes if I'm thinking right. 4 RAID cards of the best quality. 42 SSD drives at 512 GB each with SATA 3 connectivity. 10 to each RAID card and 2 to the motherboard directly. That would be OVER 20 TB OF SPACE!!! Projected speeds would be well north of 5 GB PER SECOND. The price tag would be well north what anyone normal would make in a year...

  • anyone could get this speed with 4 vertex 3. About 800$ for 4 120gb versions.

  • i wish i had $9,000 to go waste on ssd's lol

  • haha man who gives u the money to do this wow ahahaha... toss me over a drive when ur done with them. xD

  • @MasSergioVEVO Samsung does, sport.

  • Cleaning this computer sure will be lots of fun

  • fUCK YOU GUYS GIVE ME THAT COMPUTER, my computer is so crapy :(

  • Finally, we can Play Sims 3 without loading time :3

  • 3:57 - The ancestors of the Adeptus Mechanicus

  • defragmenting ssd=FAIL

  • @momostien You kind of missed the point. No, you never defrag an SSD, but you also never do the things most benchmarks do. It's about how long it took (or rather didn't take) to touch that much storage, not about what it accomplished.

  • Comment removed

  • @momostien Yea dipshit. What that guy said.

  • @AtomicHercules No, are you kidding me? It has nothing to do with how much time it took, it's all about what it accomplished.

  • @AtomicHercules I'm not saying its not impressive, it still is.

  • @momostien haha, but holding them by the cables and jumping on a trampoline is fine with you? :)

  • if you put 1 million ssd,s how fast would that be ???

  • @123orfil Not enough connection on motherboard ofcourse.... but if it would be possible... it would be at more then 1000000 mb/s write and flash read i think xD, i can't imagine

  • now put 500 ssd,s on it

  • the boot time was .000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001 nanoseconds

  • @jr540123 lolllll

  • What is the command to open all the programs like in this video?

  • What was the boot time?

  • @Jesusheartsyoualways what boot time? sarcasm

  • after a 24 hour build, the system needed new storages 12 hours later.

  • Dear Santa...

  • never ever defrag a ssd

  • i was bored so i typed in awesomeness...

  • I beg you, make and update video with atleast 2x sata 3 max iops drives in raid 0. But, try to open whole Adobe suit :)

  • @dummiexx2 1 = QX9775 = 3.2 GHZ ( 3.2 GHZ x 2 = 6.4 GHZ ), theoretically speaking, and that's just the processors at default speeds, he probably over-clocked them to god knows what.

  • Why is the video all jerky?

  • So, where can I apply to get a job there?

  • you of opened bigger programs

  • WTF

  • omg..did he really like really build this?

  • @ufsabpckid - It may come as a surprise, but a lot of people build their own computers for a number of reasons. For example, if you want a PC that can run most games, you're likely going to have to build it yourself.

  • is this really

  • How long does it take 2 boot?

  • But will it blend?

  • @rodriguez1616 WILL IT BLEND COMMENTS ARE GAY

  • What a waste of ssd no wonder there are so expensive

  • What's the matter with Defragging a SSD?

  • @HypahMind SSDs don't have parts that move around to access different locations on a disk, so fragmented files do not matter. Also, you run the risk of degraded performance by accessing sectors you don't need to be.

  • So when can you combine this into one $500 package?

  • it's about time to make an "ssd awesomeness 2"

  • Still way too expensive to buy the SSD. But in 10 years ppl will see this vid and laugh cause they'll have 10TB SSD in one disk

  • 6Tb of ssd = 7000$ -_-

  • Comment removed

  • @jackyblack55 But you can get these speeds now using only 4 SSD's in RAID.

  • @jackyblack55 Imagine what the cost was back in 09.

  • @jackyblack55 Actually, a single 512GB SSD costs about 1000 dollars, so it would be 14000$ for 6TB ^^

  • @123thepyro123

Depends what brand you go with, and what sizes - 512GB SSD wouldn't be the way to go because they're so expensive.

  • @jackyblack55 but then use can use vista

  • wats the GHz? and RAM? :D i wanna know

  • @dummiexx2 look at 04:07

  • @JonasVerhaert The didnt show the info

  • Boy, i sure can use a SSD..............lol

  • I think someone should redo this with something like Kingston HyperX or OCZ Vertex 3 Max Iops... obviously not samsung since they don't have the fastest drives... DUH

  • where are you grounding straps!! tisk tisk

  • 24 256gb ssds? how about sharing some of that paper!?!? lol

  • ON VISTA?

  • How much did this cost?

  • isnt it amazing that now 4 modern ssd's= 24 ssd's from two years ago, the vertex 3 is 550mbps on one ssd lol :D

  • I have the same PC Case!

  • Awesome, this is the fastest PC I have ever seen!!!

  • Defrag was a joke

  • Most of these tests are useless. Opening all applications is mosty CPU and RAM intensive. Deleting files only deletes pointeres to nodes, any HD can do that almost instantaneously. Playing crysis is again not HD but GPU, CPU and RAM instensive. A better test would have been loading of the map, which transfers textures form HD and RAM. SSD are SSD they have no mechanical parts, why would they break? The copy and paste of the 700MB movie was quite impressive through.

  • @Marcinrkl Somewhere in the video he says "to make the best computer possible"

  • @Marcinrkl When you first run programs the bottleneck is in loading all the programs from the hard drive/ssd to memory. The CPU can't do anything until they are loaded. The fact that they loaded 50+ programs in less than 20 seconds shows how fast things loading. Remember, fast SSD = fast loading, fast CPU = fast running.

  • awesome mate.

  • You don't need to defragment a SSD because defragmenting is meant to move pieces of a file closer together on a platter/traditional disk drive. on SSD it's just as fast to read one section as the other, whereas on a platter it takes time to read from the inner to the outer of the circle.

  • what about trim support? how u manage to maintain this performance for long period? I am thinking getting 2 ssd for raid 0 but i will be losing trim support and after some time there will be no difference between normal ssd with raid or maybe raid will be slower than normal ssd

  • najo ich bin blond

  • If it's this fast in Windows, imagine what it could do in LMDE

  • You should probably want to check out /watch?v=OZOLendaPpw and /watch?v=mKcSxd_ynsM so you can report copyright infingment.

And what's the music at 0:35?

  • The vid is really awesome (umm lets make a deal give me one and i will give u anything!) :D =)=

  • YES i was browsing and I was trying to find something with AWESOMENESS or awesomeness in the title!!

  • Soooooooo....how much did that cost?

  • 3:38 =( NO :( POOR SSD'S

  • only one of those ssd's..i d be already happy

  • yoyo go to ssdreviewed(dot)com to read all about SSD's and harddrives :)

  • Wow. That is awesome.

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • great vid ahahaha :)

  • shit thats fast

  • Ramdrive is better, cost less and need less energy. My singe ramdrive ramdisk has atleast 3.3GB/s transfer.

  • xD, @ssdawesome , you truly are a idiot... buying 24 SSD's sais enough, but you also defragment them??? it only reduces the life limitation, you shouldn't defragment SSD's , cause actualy, they are big chips...

  • @theintunity Dude; you post 1000shitty videos which exists 1000times already but you troll dudes who does fun videos, dammit it was just to laugh your ass a bit... Sheesh

  • @Falco25Tv Sais you? You have a account for a million years, you didnt do anything with it. You have no video's... and you probably only use it to make song lists and favoriete video's. And you could cool down a little bit aggressive chipmunk. Ofcourse i know it was for laugh. But still it is a idiot thaught to buy so many ssd's that will cost so many money. It is a funny video though. But you could chilex a little bit. And defragment 24 hard drives isn't smart though for the life limitation. :\

  • wtf this video has been removed

  • naa mia is langweilig

  • i drooled a little.

  • If i have 2 ssd's at default settings will there be performance increase over 1 or do they have to be in raid 0?

  • It's funny how this is likely to be the standard speed of SSDs within 10 years from now.

  • No one has contacted you to make a commercial out of this? .... fck... now I wanna get some SSD's

  • nice big movie show

  • 2:27 - an error dialog pops up.. typical windows.. LOL

  • limitation of the RAID card

  • lol you can have same speed with the newer SSD's just 4 SSD will do the job

  • Try to put all the SSD in your computer if you can...

  • will it blend ? >:)

  • Actually why did you defrag an ssd?

  • ur rich? ssd cost soo fucking expensive

  • try liquid cooling if you can it works better and looks cooler it you do it right

  • no sata 3, fuck this shit..

  • @TheNEMKE

video was made in 2009. What do you expect. And that thing still blows SATA 3 out of the water.

  • finally u can work w windows vista xD hahaha

  • 1ST Ground Yourself when building a computer

    2ND DON'T DEFRAG A S.S.D

  • @009SOUNDSYSTEM1 Why not defrag an ssd? i'm new here so plz tell me

  • @Bignacho25 The lifespan of your drive would be like, almost halved for low quality ones.

  • @Bignacho25 because its fast enough and a ssd is flash memory and it has limited write cycles and defrag puts like thousands upon thousands of write cycles hope this helped

  • I see that Left 4 Dead file path...

  • That Was Bloody SWEEEEEEEEEEt dude thanks for making the vid :)

  • YOU DON'T DEFRAG AN SSD, THAT KILLS IT.

  • geeks

  • how much did that cost???

  • Its Vista So it would be alot faster if it was 7...

  • George W. Bush speeches?

    DELETE DELETE DELETE!

  • What software did you use for bechmarking at 1:55?

  • my computer sucks so much ass its ridiculous.

    2005 sony vaio desktop....

  • most beautiful video on YouTube i have ever seen

  • Do not defrag this drive .

  • But will it blend?..

  • Hey. how do you connection two PSU into one motherboard?

  • @Maul9999 You don't and it says so in the vid.

"Power supplies connected by soldering pins 14 and a few ground wires together. This gives them a common ground and connects PS_ON to let the motherboard control them directly. Power was then shared between both supplies evenly; one EPS12v each, drives and graphics split over."

Hope that clears it up for you.

  • @Barcrest To be clear. The green wire and black wire?

  • don't defrag sdd its against the specs of all most ssd's. they actually say don't do do defragging may cause damage.

  • @aundreP Umm.. no that is not sure. Degragging SDD won't cause damages.

  • @Maul9999 can't send you links through youtube so just google defragging ssd. And you will see that all ssd specs do say "Solid State Drives DO NOT require defragmentation. It may decrease the lifespan of the drive."

  • @aundreP No, no. you're make mistaken. Defrag do not affect SDD. It only check data then defrag it. Order like clean your garbage. Again, NO! I'm not google for it! I'm tired of someone told me to google it. Unless you prove me with link on message.

  • @Maul9999 i'm not mistake its a well known fact, it is stated by spec by the companies not to defrag it. The engineers that work at the companies don't put warnings in spec for shits and giggles.

  • Brits are funny. Brit IT geeks are even funnier.

  • The whole thing probably costs more than a space station. Would love to have it though. 8)
