Anyone reading this who is still a bit unsatisfied with Crysis 2's graphics, try out Blackfire's Mod 2. I am not trying to advertise for him, I'm just recommending a very good graphics modification that brings out the true full power of the CryEngine 3. It really does improve many of the textures. Oh, and it's free. ;)
If you people had half a brain to realise a game can never be perfect on release day. Crysis 2 has gotten an even higher-res texture pack as well as DirectX 11 support. I will admit it took them a little too long but at least they kept their word. Also flaming at Crytek because they went console is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. By no means am I a fanboy, I own a PS3, Xbox 360 and a PC capable of handling games like Crysis on max settings. However flaming at Crytek is stupid, the reason b

Also, people who've been judging this video and saying how Crysis 2 is awesome via a 640x360 windows is retarded. At 1980x1080 this game looks Fugly. Lots of static objects. Hell, even wind effects on projectiles are gone.

I personally own a Gaming PC capable of running Crysis 2 on Ultra with Dx11 Tesselation and Hires Textures enabled, at 80FPS. I also own All the crysis games [Crysis Maximum edition + Crysis 2 LE], and i can say that although Crysis 1 looks really darn pretty on max, Crysis 2 Maxed out with Dx11+Hires Texpack takes the graphic award for sure. I agree with you that Crysis 2 is a better gameplay.

The fact is most games have really good graphics in this day and age, especially for the PC. The problem however with Crytek with the Cryengine 3 was that it was actually taking a voluntary step back to cater to older tech while other companies were all moving forward. So now they are all at the same level and some even succeeded the Cryengine already.
What made the Cryengine 3 so overhyped is because console kiddies got a small taste of it and then now they feel like they know everything.

PC gamers complain because they can't max out crysis. Then crytek goes through years of development on their new engine to bring them the same graphics on hardware less than half the power, and then they complain because the graphics haven't been improved much. The whole engine is a work of art.
@ 2:10 one of many reasons this game sucks; the mounted weapon fires at you while the NPC manning it is looking at his 12 o'clock. And the other NPC spins his back to you! How do they even know you are there - radar? Gunships and Pingers that only track your character while the rest of the free world is dumping heavy weapon fire at it. WTF over! How many years since the last Crysis and with all the hype they still screwed up so much. Sadly NPC related glitches made the game seem amateurish.

Been gaming for over 20 years now, I know all about and appreciate the latest and greatest graphics... HOWEVER: How can you say this game looks bad? I can tell it's watered down. Don't care. I rented it for 360 and I'm having a blast. It runs *butter* smooth on my PC on HIGH settings (multiplayer demo). WILL buy for PC.

I for one appreciate the improvement to the actual gameplay, its a hell of a lot more dynamic than the original, rather than making another glorified benchmark tool and physics toy. Now you can get the same graphics on lesser hardware and almost the same graphics on consoles that have never seen a game that looked this good and likely won't again

Hell, Metro 2033 looks a lot better than this game and a lot more immersive. Metro 2033 justifies our $1,000+ rigs - tears just roll down my eyes seeing the work or real progress.

PC gaming is a premium, to those who can't afford it 'til now, sorry to hear that (its been what 4 years?). Crysis WAS the Lamborghini of gaming. We pay for a PREMIUM to get the BEST. This is the first time i've seen a Lambo get watered down into a Sedan! Great upgrade.

@TehGodlyDevil no prob bro, im really disappointed that Crysis 2 didnt bring anything new to the table. As per advertisement and pre-release videos, it was shown that the physx were revamped, destructibility was revamped, and AI was supposedly amazing.
Now as the final product was released, everything advertised was crippled. Greatly.
In terms of the modding however, i didn't install any in Crysis 1 except for advanced_Ai. Just hard console codes that has also worked in Crysis 2.

@TehGodlyDevil actually, the autoexec.cfg i used in Crysis 1 still works in Crysis 2. So, pushing the engine at max is as easy as doing it in Crysis 1. The problem here is the fact that Cryengine 3 was not meant to be a successor for the Cryengine 2, so pushing it does not reap marginable benefits since many of us have seen better.
So Cryengine 3 should not be named as such, since it isnt a successor but an optimization for consoles. They should've called it Cryengine 2.1. :) peace out bro.

Well, we are talking about Battlefield 3 not Red Faction 2, stop diverting the topic. Red Faction 2 has updated graphics, the company who made it said so. Same cannot be said for Battlefield 3 since it does incorporate a new motion capture AI animation that come from Sports games. @raiynevaergil you forget to factor: AI changes, how many bots can be at once, how versatile they are (etc. alien AI), added shaders, daylight engine, added physx, and since when was mediocre destructible surroundings (around as good as the ones from red faction guerrilla 2 :) ) a new standard??? you can destroy every window and hiding spots in crysis 2, and its a lot more realistic that the chunky walls in BF. you dont know any of this, stop trying. you dont bring anything fanboy bitch.
All that you mentioned above, NONE are there like the destructible environment. Hell i shot a missile at a building 30 meters away nothing happened. Building was intact. Also, in the video above the tent wasnt even scathed by a significant amount. Some "Tent" you have there. Show me proof. I want specifics, WHAT in Crysis 2 is a definitive progress in this era of gaming.

Crysis 2 has no dynamic wind physics, no massive open environments like Crysis 1, no realtime dynamic physics, fire and what not.. all that good stuff in Crysis 1, is just not there in Crysis 2. But that's resonable because the game was desinged for the Xbox 360. But still...

cryengine 3 is a lot more realistic, theres more to it.
cryengine 2 had to run forests and beaches etc. but this game is running cities, which is a lot harder to render. there are about three to four times more polygons in this city than were in the crysis beach and water, plus they bought the water graphics from nvidia.
@Phisk3n CryEngine 2, the engine used in the previous games, was quite glitchy. Can it do amazing things with the right equipment? Yes, this means it's not totally inefficient. CryEngine 3, however, can do the same amazing things (if not more) with less-powerful hardware. Crytek's done their homework this time around, and this is a much better engine, both in terms of what you get for what you pay, and in terms of stability.
@Phisk3n cause its old and shitty, plus it doesnt, i dont know where you got that, the lowest settings are lower and the highest are higher, just cause it takes less to run it does not mean it IS less, if you compare any car from this time to an old car, then the old car runs worse and takes more gas.

@NumidiumsRG they could have, but they went a different route with this game, its not cause the couldnt do it, its because they build an engine that was better suited for multiplayer, and the side-effect was that the game was more linear, they cover it up by making "different routes". but its because they removed a lot of the parkouring abilities, and just because you grab onto ledges doesnt mean that it isnt true. so thats why, also because of consoles, just not as much.

Throw a grenade in Crysis 2 and see what breaks. You wont see shit. Then try the same thing in Crysis 1. Hell, even the wind effects are calculated in Crysis 1.
It's no longer the number of polygons that matter nowadays lame ass. IT'S ON-THE-FLY CALCULATED REALISM. Hell, Bulletstorm's scenery and structures look a lot more amazing.

I am not trying to advertise for him, I'm just recommending a very good graphics modification that brings out the true full power of the CryEngine 3. It really does improve many of the textures. If you people had half a brain to realise a game can never be perfect on release day. Crysis 2 has gotten an even higher-res texture pack as well as DirectX 11 support. I will admit it took them a little too long but at least they kept their word. Also flaming at Crytek because they went console is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. I personally own a Gaming PC capable of running Crysis 2 on Ultra with Dx11 Tesselation and Hires Textures enabled, at 80FPS. I also own All the crysis games [Crysis Maximum edition + Crysis 2 LE], and i can say that although Crysis 1 looks really darn pretty on max, Crysis 2 Maxed out with Dx11+Hires Texpack takes the graphic award for sure. I agree with you that Crysis 2 is a better gameplay.

The fact is most games have really good graphics in this day and age, especially for the PC. The problem however with Crytek with the Cryengine 3 was that it was actually taking a voluntary step back to cater to older tech while other companies were all moving forward. So now they are all at the same level and some even succeeded the Cryengine already.
What made the Cryengine 3 so overhyped is because console kiddies got a small taste of it and then now they feel like they know everything.

@ 2:10 one of many reasons this game sucks; the mounted weapon fires at you while the NPC manning it is looking at his 12 o'clock. And the other NPC spins his back to you! How do they even know you are there - radar? Gunships and Pingers that only track your character while the rest of the free world is dumping heavy weapon fire at it. WTF over! How many years since the last Crysis and with all the hype they still screwed up so much. Sadly NPC related glitches made the game seem amateurish.

Been gaming for over 20 years now, I know all about and appreciate the latest and greatest graphics... HOWEVER: How can you say this game looks bad? I can tell it's watered down. Don't care. I rented it for 360 and I'm having a blast. It runs *butter* smooth on my PC on HIGH settings (multiplayer demo). WILL buy for PC.

I want to pay for a TRUE Crysis experience, NOT a Call of Duty + Halo hybrid.
Hell, Metro 2033 looks a lot better than this game and a lot more immersive. Metro 2033 justifies our $1,000+ rigs - tears just roll down my eyes seeing the work or real progress.

@TehGodlyDevil no prob bro, im really disappointed that Crysis 2 didnt bring anything new to the table. As per advertisement and pre-release videos, it was shown that the physx were revamped, destructibility was revamped, and AI was supposedly amazing.
Now as the final product was released, everything advertised was crippled. Greatly.
In terms of the modding however, i didn't install any in Crysis 1 except for advanced_Ai. Just hard console codes that has also worked in Crysis 2.

@TehGodlyDevil actually, the autoexec.cfg i used in Crysis 1 still works in Crysis 2. So, pushing the engine at max is as easy as doing it in Crysis 1. The problem here is the fact that Cryengine 3 was not meant to be a successor for the Cryengine 2, so pushing it does not reap marginable benefits since many of us have seen better.
So Cryengine 3 should not be named as such, since it isnt a successor but an optimization for consoles. They should've called it Cryengine 2.1. :) peace out bro.

For a so called "upgrade" from a 3 year old engine. I don't see why losing those basic effects that Cryengine 2 was awesome at, can be considered to be an upgrade. :) Simple truths just can't be accepted by the likes of you, aww don't cry - daddy might buy you a good PC someday :)

@raiynevaergil you forget to factor: AI changes, how many bots can be at once, how versatile they are (etc. alien AI), added shaders, daylight engine, added physx, and since when was mediocre destructible surroundings (around as good as the ones from red faction guerrilla 2 :) ) a new standard??? you can destroy every window and hiding spots in crysis 2, and its a lot more realistic that the chunky walls in BF. you dont know any of this, stop trying. you dont bring anything fanboy bitch.

All that you mentioned above, NONE are there like the destructible environment. Hell i shot a missile at a building 30 meters away nothing happened. Building was intact. Also, in the video above the tent wasnt even scathed by a significant amount. Some "Tent" you have there. Show me proof. I want specifics, WHAT in Crysis 2 is a definitive progress in this era of gaming.
No one will vouch for you, console kid who can't afford a good PC. ;) monetary prowess - down then drain.

Let's put it into simple terms, do tell me if you cant keep up.
1. AI - Stupid. Try Advanced_Ai of Crysis 1. Now THAT is an AI.
2. Shading - Since when did q_shader=2 become an upgrade? thats a notch lower than before.
3. Daylight Engine - Been there for 3 years now. Oh, you didn't know? didnt play Crysis 1 now did you.
4. Added Physx - if you call having no environmental wind effects after grenade blast physx hell, your dumb.
So, none that you said was true. :) run along child ;)

@raiynevaergil crysis 2 = damn near the same graphical experience as crysis 1 on pc, they just did a better job with the engine. they made it less sloppy. there still is no other game on earth that looks better than crysis 2 on pc or console

another funny argument, again with this one? we don't need i-candy that we can't touch. Hell Gears of War had a lot of eye candy. Even Mass Effect has them, the only thing that made Crysis superior back then was because WE COULD INTERACT WITH THEM. get it? so slow.

@MrDeamos That's just art style. Technically Crysis 1 is MUCH! better. Crysis 2 has no dynamic wind physics, no massive open environments like Crysis 1, no realtime dynamic physics, fire and what not.. all that good stuff in Crysis 1, is just not there in Crysis 2. But that's resonable because the game was desinged for the Xbox 360. But still...

@vide0gameCaster I agree, CoD4 is the only good one out of them all. WaW was an mp40 sprayfest, MW2 was a campfest, and BO is nothing special or new to CoD players. CoD4 is still a great game, but since the community has gone from run n' gun to camp, that game is also turning into a campfest.

@vide0gameCaster So true. I just put all of my CoD games in a shoebox today along with the other trash titles I can't stand playing anymore. We need more games like this to save us from the CoD monopoly. Just about everyone I know that was a hardcore CoD player has quit and moved on to other titles because they can't stand the increasing number of campers and imbalanced weapons/perks, not to mention CoD has shit graphics compared to this game. R.I.P. CoD.

cryengine 3 is a lot more realistic, theres more to it.
cryengine 2 had to run forests and beaches etc. but this game is running cities, which is a lot harder to render. there are about three to four times more polygons in this city than were in the crysis beach and water, plus they bought the water graphics from nvidia.
cryengine 3 rules, no questions asked.

@Phisk3n CryEngine 2, the engine used in the previous games, was quite glitchy. Can it do amazing things with the right equipment? Yes, this means it's not totally inefficient. CryEngine 3, however, can do the same amazing things (if not more) with less-powerful hardware. Crytek's done their homework this time around, and this is a much better engine, both in terms of what you get for what you pay, and in terms of stability.

@Phisk3n cause its old and shitty, plus it doesnt, i dont know where you got that, the lowest settings are lower and the highest are higher, just cause it takes less to run it does not mean it IS less, if you compare any car from this time to an old car, then the old car runs worse and takes more gas.

@NumidiumsRG they could have, but they went a different route with this game, its not cause the couldnt do it, its because they build an engine that was better suited for multiplayer, and the side-effect was that the game was more linear, they cover it up by making "different routes". but its because they removed a lot of the parkouring abilities, and just because you grab onto ledges doesnt mean that it isnt true. so thats why, also because of consoles, just not as much.

Moron, do your homework. About 85% of Crysis 2 is pre-rendered eliminating the use of on the fly intense GPU and physx calculations just like Crysis 1 did. Try it. Throw a grenade in Crysis 2 and see what breaks. You wont see shit. Then try the same thing in Crysis 1. Hell, even the wind effects are calculated in Crysis 1.
It's no longer the number of polygons that matter nowadays lame ass. IT'S ON-THE-FLY CALCULATED REALISM. Hell, Bulletstorm's scenery and structures look a lot more amazing.
