It is unfair to compare national health care in the US to Denmark/Netherlands. It's more accurate to compare it to the EU having one health system -or even Western Europe- and not even European countries would go for that. It would be sinister.
You can't compare the US (pop=310 million) that has 50 states, 50 Constitutions, 50 local economies, to a tiny country with 6 million people.

I agree with most of what you say man, but on this health care bill, I disagree. If you read the bill , you would know that it is not about health at all, but about insurance. Insurance is just another tax. If one takes responsibility for their health, why should that person be penalized?

I think healthcare is a very complex issue and I think most sides have good points but I think the best way to find out what people really care about is to see what they will spend their money on. Rather than taking their money ask them on their tax forms if they would like to donate money to insure the uninsured like they ask if you would like to donate $1 to the Olympic team. That way you would see how much our society cares about universal health care.

At the end of the day, First and foremost, charity begins at home. I am fortunate to live in a social democracy. The NHS cost to working individuals via national insurance contributions, pays for healthcare for all. Healthcare provision in hospitals is "free at the point of service" and in my opinion the NHS does a sterling job.

As far as Spening on Israel, the US maintains Military alliances around the world. Japan,N Korea, Europe,Eastern Europe. As to the nature of this video. We dont have a social democracy in the US. We live in a representative republic. As for Israel. We the people of the United States Choose to support the nation of israel,Just as we support Egypt. Personally I'm never in favor of big government. I think the government is a large reason why health care is too expensive now. But since we are not heading toward smaller government, instead it has been expanding constantly since Reagan, I think the two priorities should be health care and education.

You are right. Americans spend billions every year for Israel, and even they have national health coverage. According to the CIA Factbook, on the Life Expectancy scale, Israel is 13th in the world, Canada is 8th place, Germany 32nd place and the US is in 50th place. Americans aren't living long without health coverage. It's not enough love between Americans.
It doesn't matter what americans want. We have been dumbed down and conquered by the few at the top. We want whatever they want us to want, we think whatever they want us to think, we live however they want us to live, and the end is near for us. i pay 90 Euro's A Month on healthCare here in Holland and i have a Extended package and you can singhed up for something (wich i dont know the English word for) and the Govermand sends me 56 Euro's everymonth back so its not to Expensive. now i have a 90 Euro ensurance (sorry for the bad english there) but if i would get a cheaper one for around 60 euro's i still can Recive 56 euro's from the Govermand.

I'm not sure if they still do it but the German government used to issue fines to GPs if they exceeded their drug budget. They would also reduce their drug budget if the total spend fell short. Not very friendly but an enterprising pharma company, Basf, came up with ingenious solution: -Buy oiur brand and we'll pay your fines for you.

I have been to Vancouver , Canada and ended up waiting 10 hours for the time I broke my wrist just to get seen by a doctor. It took 3 hours first to see the nurse. You talk about being in pain. The only reason I was there was I had work there but after the doctor told me that I needed to come back in a week for a tenant shot I said forget it and flew back to the states. I was seen at the hospital and taken care of within 2 hours I was walking out of it. Oh and don't get sick on Sunday.

The money the US 'shells out' to Israel does not go to health care. It goes ot military, political and probably a lot of other waste. Israel has always has close to free health care for all its citizens. Prior to US support as well. I am however still shocked that no such thing exists in the US.

As far as healthcare is concerned, what I worry about is too much government subsidizing will cause healthcare inflation, too much government regulation can lead to shortages and rationing. You can't compare the US (pop=310 million) that has 50 states, 50 Constitutions, 50 local economies, to a tiny country with 6 million people.

I agree with most of what you say man, but on this health care bill, I disagree. If you read the bill , you would know that it is not about health at all, but about insurance. Insurance is just another tax. If one takes responsibility for their health, why should that person be penalized?
The AMA is not providing health care, they are just dispensing drugs, If this were really about health I would be all for it. I watched my dad get systematically worse for the doctor visits, til he died.

I think healthcare is a very complex issue and I think most sides have good points but I think the best way to find out what people really care about is to see what they will spend their money on. Rather than taking their money ask them on their tax forms if they would like to donate money to insure the uninsured like they ask if you would like to donate $1 to the Olympic team. That way you would see how much our society cares about universal health care.

in that point of view i dont prefer the NL because recently the age of retirement went up to 70.

At the end of the day, First and foremost, charity begins at home. I am fortunate to live in a social democracy. The NHS cost to working individuals via national insurance contributions, pays for healthcare for all. Healthcare provision in hospitals is "free at the point of service" and in my opinion the NHS does a sterling job.

Protean, we want govt to stay boxed into what the Constitution gives them authoriity to do. Collecting taxes in order to provide for a military is one of those. Collecting taxes to pay for universal healthcare is not one. As for the Netherlands, the US is not the Netherlands. I can't speak to their gvt but Medicare, SSI, Postal Mail and every other govt run service runs at a huge loss of money. There is no efficency there.

The fact that you can buy stock in health insurance companies is the problem! When you look at how expensive a trip to the hospital is, you can't tell me they are providing this service at a loss! Yet INVESTORS are making a profit as well. Your benefits are always going down and your premiums are going up! The only way to keep investor money coming is to ensure you are making a profit! That's why I subscribed to him. The biggest disease I see in this country is mental illness. War is OK but health is not. America is sick on more levels than one. Can you consider that the fear of not being able to defend yourself against health problems is a means of keeping the majority in a less than competitive state. The morjorities hands are tied while the expropriating class punches the majority in the face conceptually, economically and literally by proxy.....ie police or those negelected and degraded who blindly feed on there own class against there own self interests. The majority is exeedingly mindfuct.

You are right. Americans spend billions every year for Israel, and even they have national health coverage. According to the CIA Factbook, on the Life Expectancy scale, Israel is 13th in the world, Canada is 8th place, Germany 32nd place and the US is in 50th place. Americans aren't living long without health coverage. It's not enough love between Americans.

What we need now is to rebuild our infrastructure. First by increasing import taxes to the point that it discourages U.S. companies from outsourcing.
Investing in technologies (other then war machines) and our education system (not only in an election year)
This can be funded by severely reducing wasteful overseas ventures.
This government is employed to focus on the demands and needs of U.S. citizens. Let Sally Struthers and the like, engage in the affairs of those fly infested children.

Nobody who has lived here or another country with a sane healthcare system, or has studied a comparison would prefer the U.S. system. I have not read one scholar who would prefer the U.S. HC system after doing a comparison. It really is a lack of a HC system more than anything else.

i pay 90 Euro's A Month on healthCare here in Holland and i have a Extended package and you can singhed up for something (wich i dont know the English word for) and the Govermand sends me 56 Euro's everymonth back so its not to Expensive. now i have a 90 Euro ensurance (sorry for the bad english there) but if i would get a cheaper one for around 60 euro's i still can Recive 56 euro's from the Govermand.

I'm not sure if they still do it but the German government used to issue fines to GPs if they exceeded their drug budget. They would also reduce their drug budget if the total spend fell short. Not very friendly but an enterprising pharma company, Basf, came up with ingenious solution: -Buy oiur brand and we'll pay your fines for you.
That just illustrates the kind of inflationary forces you -might- experience and the draconian measures bureaucrats take to combat them.

Big Pharma is a ton of the cost overall pushing drugs day and night. The govt FDA plies them with money to research drugs that do more harm than good falsely certifying safety and costing way too much. Instead the government should research natural herbs and supplements to see if any of the claims are substantiated. Of course there is no PROFIT in THAT so they don't.

I have been to Vancouver , Canada and ended up waiting 10 hours for the time I broke my wrist just to get seen by a doctor. It took 3 hours first to see the nurse. You talk about being in pain. The only reason I was there was I had work there but after the doctor told me that I needed to come back in a week for a tenant shot I said forget it and flew back to the states. I was seen at the hospital and taken care of within 2 hours I was walking out of it. Oh and don't get sick on Sunday.

When you take a "studant loan", you have to repay it even if A) you didn't graduate, B) you're disatisified with your education, C) you can't find a job in that field.
They expect YOU to pay for shitty education, that doesn't lead to a job?! WTF, why even go to college? (Number one reason is getting a better job.)

Plumflowerblossom, high school isn't free. It's funded by taxes. Taxes are taken from you on the local, state, and federal level. If it is money that you've paid, it negates that whole "free" thing.
Why does everyone want to call something free when it comes from taxes? If anything, they cost more due to you not having choice in the matter.
I can buy a TV and choose what model, and how big. I can't choose where my tax dollar is spent.

The money the US 'shells out' to Israel does not go to health care. It goes ot military, political and probably a lot of other waste. Israel has always has close to free health care for all its citizens. Prior to US support as well. I am however still shocked that no such thing exists in the US.

Well I am a libertarian. I too disagree with how much we spend on military and foreign countries. As far as healthcare is concerned, what I worry about is too much government subsidizing will cause healthcare inflation, too much government regulation can lead to shortages and rationing. I would like to see those Hundreds of Billions of dollars go back to the people and make health savings accounts. To see more on that watch John Stossel's 'Sick in America'.
