  • don't touch the rubber on your tire when your doing this .. unless you like the taste of pavement .. Spin the wheel with the spokes

  • Nice bike! I like the color.. mines black but I'm thinking of painting it red. I have the Growler exhaust on mine.. you should check it out.

  • Kerosene...hmmmm.....i got some guess ama use that...got told to use gas.......

  • Hey u missed a spot

  • You wanna waste some more lube?

  • thumbs up if u wanna do this with ur sisters tooth brush

  • dont spray on disk or tire.spray ONLY from the inside at bottom between sprokets to minimize mess.

use cardboard, under towels, to avoid staining floor.

NEVER use a brush on o-ring or x-ring chain, you are pushing dirt inside and drying the pin assembly and it will wear in 2000 3000km.

never let drythe chain cleaner that long: dry it with rag towel and compressed air but not too close gain to avoid unsealing orings.use chain lube, not wd40 which is way too thin and flies off.

  • You don't have to lubricate your chain from the outside, you must spray only the inside...

  • WD40 getting on your rubber is not good.

  • Hey rebel I enjoy your videos man you help out A lot of newbies.. Trust me I don't want to talk smack but you said your dad is a mechanic right? The he should know that wd-40 will eat away the o-rings in your chain. Rubber doesn't take well with wd-40. I strongly recommend using kerosine or a chain cleaner safe for o-rings. Keep up the awesome vids bro.

  • @verge513 I don't know why u or anyone can't just use chain cleaner. Probably cost same or 1 or 2 dollars more than wd40 and it's made to clean your chain. Not big deal in price and don't worry about wd 40 helping with rust because chain lube helps prevent rust(or at least mine does) so just use chain cleaner and chain lube.

  • @verge513 one don't use wd 40 because it's not made for chains two how much more does motorcycle chain cleaner really cost compared to wd 40? And your chain lube helps make ur chain less likely to rust. So why use wd 40 when chain cleaner is prob close to or same price.

  • I felt like kind of an idiot searching chain lubing videos but this def. helped today when i did mine.. Used the wd-40 to clean the chain for the first time in wayyy too long (first time in about 11,000 miles) and let me say it was dirty. All lubed and ready to go now for spring :)

  • MATE DON'T PUT WD40 ON YOUR CHAIN YOU WILL BE GOING DOWN THE ROAD ONE DAY AND IT WILL FALL OFF AND RAP AROUND YOUR WHEEL AND KILL YOU.

  • You really don't know what you do man!!!!!!

  • wd40 will root your o rings in your chair coaseing it to ware and fall to bits but this guy likes living dangerously as seen on his last video rev your bike while its really low on oil

  • @kawasakizzr11002000 grammer and ur judging

  • @Verge513 YOU WOULD BE A FUCKING KNOB WOULDN'T YOU CUNT HE GOES DOWN THE ROAD WITH WD40 ON THE CHAIN AND IT COMES APART AND HE DIES ISN'T IT BETTER FOR KAWASAKI TO TELL HIM IN ANYWAY HE CAN GRAMMAR OR NO GRAMMAR FUCK WIT YOU WOULD HAVE TO BE AN AMERICAN WOULDN'T YOU.

  • @obieezx11 and btw i never said us wd40 as a lube but as a cleaner.. if thats what u had in mind.. if u would just read the purpose of the topic of wd40

  • i recommend chain lube instead of wd-40

  • All i wanna say is that you're doing a few mistakes.

First of all WD40 harms o-rings and second its useless to spray chain at the out side, they only thing you can get from that is a greasy wheel and a greasy pair of jeans :P

Try to spray it at the inner side and before that take the bike a small ride just to warm up a bit the chain :)

  • You are doing it wrong. Firstly WD-40 kills o or x rings in chain. Secondly, you should spray the chain lube on te other side of chain because centrifugal force push the grease in the chain.

  • dude. lubing the outside of the chain does nothing except attract dity and frime. lube the inside only... and only from the inside of the chaing not the outward facing part of the chain (if that makes sense).

  • You should never lube a cold chain.

  • Comment removed

  • @USAFFountain Why is that?...I'm gonna get a motorcycle hopefully in March & I don't really wanna mess it up.

  • why do you need to scrub it???

  • Thanks.

  • are your back weels stock they look diffarent

  • mate i only got a cbr 125 and i no nothing about bikes so i hope u could help me out from time 2 time as i seen yur video ur good

  • if you first would wah ur chain with anti grease so its super clean and then use som chain grease on it, i would be perfect, but wd-40 works to, but it prevents rust, which is not good on any chain...

  • DO NOT USE W40 ON CHAIN. W40 is harmful for oring's.

Always use chain cleaner products or fuel - benzine.

If you are using fuel: before the lubing wash with soap and dry..

  • @dominantx agreed, WD40 also attracts dirt and other debris...

  • DO NOT USE W40 ON CHAIN. W40 is harmful for oring's.

Always use chain cleaner products or fuel - benzine.

If you are using fuel: before the lubing wash with soap and dry..

  • just got done lubin my chain and yes washing is a pain in the ass well drying it off at least do you prefer wax or oil and i went and got some de greaser from cycle gear and let me tell you grease just fell off wasnt to bad either like 7.99 ish just wanted to now your prefrence about wax or oil seems like wax just got everwere thanks for your advice

  • shure this has been said....WD40 is bad if it manages to get in your o rings....

ever see what it does to oil and greese????

it disolves it..........probobly good if you dont have an o ring chain...

use actual chain cleaner product.....or Kerosene

  • @manjunk427 WD-40 is mainly kerosene. People who say don't use WD-40 are dumb.

  • @rsx123 Actually rsx123..you are misinformed..and I will be kind and not say DUMB.

The main ingredient you mistake for kerosene is actually called Hexane which is a degreasing agent used to separate moisture from grease. Thus the reason why WD40 is so good at displacing water from oil.Wd40's ability to lubricate is due to it having a specially formulated undisclosed lubricant that is not destroyed by Hexane.Motorcycle O ring grease is NOT one of these special lubricants and will be destroyed.

  • Where's the part of riding the bike first?

  • how do i get that type of stand?

  • Hello....

Why not use a automatic chain oiler, like ScottOiler ?

  • a cheap brush with some kerosene cleans betterr...and a spray grease at the and it's everything

  • WD40? Do you know that WD40 it's water based?

  • what kind of stand is that? and what all do you need to be able to use it?

  • @309acm T-Rex racing stand. You need swingarm spools (which they come with)

  • @rebelyell91 thanks

  • rebelyell always remind me of m13^_^,.

  • @Testingpointer1 <3 m13!!! I started watching M13's vids about a month after Rebelyell. I wish I could vlog like M13 does lol he has some vlogging talent!

  • @thiskory99 hahahah,. that guy is really funny^_^,. specially the eating mcdonalds food the rider way^_^ lol!!!

  • ur funny dude:))

    useful vid though, thx up

  • hey ive been riding for ever 3 years but always paid to have something done to the bike. now i try myself. thanks to people like you man. good video. wanted to know if you really need a bike chain guard on or not.?

  • OK, I have a simple question for sport bikes owners. Maybe for some of you it's going to sound stupid but i don't care :D I love sport bikes but until now only bike I was driving is my friend bike and it was some older one. Finally i have money to buy my FIRST bike ( it's probably going to be cbr600rr or yamaha r6 ) So question is, after buying sport bike, how much money I need for maintenance in one season ??? filters, brakes maintenance, and other things ?

  • I don't know much about it. Is it to expensive or it's just like for some car maintenance ? thanks ppl :)))

  • I don't reccomen getting a 600 supersport as your first bike but hey thats your money. And motorcycles love attention. Oil change is a good 40-50 bucks for part sythetic every 2000 miles. Gotta keep your change clean and lubed every 500-1000 miles. Tires need to be replaced every 3000-7000 miles on a sportbike, depending on the tire. Other then that it isn't too bad.

good luck and be safe please.

  • good information

  • @nicole16569 it depends on how you ride to i got a lil over 10k on my bike tire and and im at 12k on my front tire and 21k on the bike a 06 fz6 i bought for 2500 bucks

  • @straghtclownin depends on the tire compound. Michilen pilot roads usually get about 9-12000 miles under normal conditions. my riding style and track days, i get about 2000-3000 miles out of my tires and thats down past the wear bars. i lube my chain every week and change my oil every other month. lol i ride a lot, 200-400 mile weekends.

  • @nicole16569 it depends on how you ride to i got a lil over 10k on my bike tire and and im at 12k on my front tire and 21k on the bike a 06 fz6 i bought for 2500 bucks

  • The best, and cheapest, chain cleaner is gasoline. Think about it. It DOES NOT harm the o-rings. You have o-rings in the carbs, which are saturated with gasoline throughout their lives. Anyone that tells you different is either stupid or they sell chain cleaning products. Oh, BTW, I use dish washing liquid to wash my car. Peace.

  • I would simply recommend motooiler to everyone. great product and saves tons of time. no need to clean the chain. Cuts down the need to adjust the slack 2 to 3 times easy.

  • I do mention in these videos (or in most of them) that I am not a professional.

  • this guy is a jerk your doing a great job and as you can see pretty much all of us think your doing good. nobody knows everything. but at least you know "your" bike as well as you do. it helps everybody that cant take it to a mechanic all the time.

  • @rebelyell91 i think he is really just jealous of you

  • i bet this "kid" has more riding experiance than you. there is nothing wrong with his videos on how to clean and maintain his ninja 250. there pretty good if you ask me. why would you put down sombody trying to help? is it because you dont know how to do anything on your bike? or the fact you cant afford to buy the proper stuff to do the things hes doing? either wa rebel dose the best he can so gfy.

  • Its not good to use wd40 on chains because it deterioriates the rubber orings and buna nitrile in general. Get yourself a good chain cleaner or use kerosene as suggested. ditch the wd 40 bro.

  • i use castrol chain cleaner and dry lube! Dry lube is the best stuff around as it doesnt pike up any grime... Saw it at the Essener motorshow: they cleaned the chain, dry lubed it and took a handfull of sand and put it on the chain and none of it stuck on..

  • ei.. what chain lube are you using? is mag 1 any good?

  • not sure if mag 1 is any good.

I use Blu Ray or something

  • tips, cleaning chain use kerosene and tooth brush concentrate on o-rings top and bottom of chain getting all that crap out of there. once dry use an o-ring lube or a heavy oil, no wax based lube. spray on top of the chain on the lower rung(o-rings area) centrifugal force will pull the lube thought the chain when riding getting a good lubed chain to prevent tight spots.

drying the bike just hit 100 for a minute :)

  • Hey man Very helpful vids you said that you dont like drying your bike i found a good way it sounds crazy but it works if you have a leaf blower go over your bike with that it will get all the water out from the gaps then use your towel or what ever you use I hope this helps

  • yeah I heard about that, interesting man, thanks

  • Hey no prob man.

  • sir im thinking what is the brand of lube can you use..

and after you spray that in the chain.. should i just wait 15 mins then im good to go? or after 15 mins i need to clean it again with towel?

  • WD40 is awesome, but be careful with it when you use it near your tires since a serious amount of WD40 on you tires can cause the rubber to dry out quickly. Anyways, good video again Rebel, as always.

  • Good info :D thanks!

  • so can i use WD40 on my yz125 chain yes or no?? i need to lube it quick!

  • to clean it you may be abel to use WD40

but to lube it you need to use some chain lube (it will let you know in your owner's manual)

  • WD40 will eat the orings.... not good....

    Paraffin is good to use.

  • U should do a vid on replacing chain and sprocket when the time comes

    Great vids:)

  • Oh yea, it also goes without saying, that even the most experienced of riders have met their deaths riding/crashing.

Are they immature retarded squids for meeting their ends in this fashion?

  • I just finished cleaning/ lubing I did it without a stand though I just moved the bike to clean it one part at a time, it works. I used w40 for cleaning and Dupont Teflon lube. thanks for the video.

  • glad it worked out

  • Hey, where did you get that swing arm stand? It looks like you have spools mounted to your swing arm. Can you lift the rear end up without the spools?

  • You have to have spools to lift the rear

  • Damn lol so that means I have to buy spools. You can't just lift the rear up underneath the swing arms?

  • Actually I'm sorry, yes you can buy a rear stand that works with the swing arms.

    good call

  • you don't have to buy spools, if you want you can purchase a quality pitt bull stand with the rubber coated tabs to lift under the swingarm.

  • You need a grunge brush

  • Great video!! thx and V'sss

  • how often do you have to clean/lube the chain?

  • Kawasaki recommends (on the 250) every 400 miles.

  • Harley Davidson makes a chain lube that is also a chain cleaner that works well..You can buy it at any Harley dealership...$5.99...

  • Comment removed

  • How often do you have your bike serviced? How much does it cost?

I have the option of getting either a Kawasaki 250 (like yours) or a ZX6R that is restricted - which would you choose for a noob biker?

  • Your owner's manual will let you know at what miles it should be serviced. Costs vary. and concerning which bike it's up to you.

  • 250r

any 600 is too much bike and you wont have nearly as much fun because you'll be worried about all of the power.

  • when you eat a steak, so you take super small bites just in case you experience too much flavor? it made much more sense to me to buy a 600 instead of trading in a 250 after 2 months...

  • do you buy size 10 shoes when you're a size 8 ? It takes skill to ride, not just "im mature and wont crash". most people who buys a SS for their first bike are retarded squids anyway.(no offense to ashf00t, lol).

  • thats not to nice....mommy and daddy must not of loved you enough....be constructive bro ..come on

  • While your comment does warrant some merit you indeed offend people like ashf00t and myself. Although, I'm not as a responsible rider as she is, I think I do pretty well. There's always room for improvement no matter how good anyone is but don't sell everyone who gets a supersport short.

I've a friend who started out on a cbr1000rr and he only started riding 8 months ago. The roads in this country are horrible and the guy is still alive and in good health.

    Untrained throttle whores die fast

  • i would get the 250r because it will be lighter and easier to handle to a new biker. also the engine will be running properly rather than restricted so you get better mpg etc. this is the bike im going to get when im 17 and have passed my bike test (providing i can afford it). cant see anything wrong with it myself

  • i would say Ninja 250 is better plus its easier to get use to

  • can you lube it over and over without having to clean yor chain eerytime perhaps everyother time

  • I guess you could....

but I'd clean it every time, that's just me.

  • Hey its nice to see somebody taking care of their chain & sprocket. Expensive to replace. You might like my video. Have a look. Search "packjack portable motorcycle jack"

  • i don't clean myself never but it shortens chain lifetime , so you have to buy new chains time to time

  • You know, for a 250 that's really not a bad looking bike. I really like what Kawasaki did with the 2008 styling. Still though, gets old fast when you start riding it and crave power.

  • its not recommended to use w40 because it contains petroleum which will damage the o rings or x rings the best thing to use is kerosene

  • were you able to clean the area around the front sprocket too?

  • yeah

  • is best to use chain wax but what you got is works good to I guess newer used that but i know chain wax is a good way to go.. just thought I should point that out :D

  • What is the name of the chain lube and where did you get it?

  • Belray Superclean, it's awesome.

    at Cyclegear, Dealership, etc.

  • Comment removed

  • Hey..

Do you spray anything on your brake disk

    (other ""metal pieces") to keep

    them from rusting.

  • nothing goes on my brake disks, but I do keep them clean. :D

  • wd40 is great!... for cleaning the chain not lubing it. u can notice that the wd40 dries up the chain so u need chain lube or any motor oil if u dont have chain lube. good vid! but why do u clean ur bike be4 maintenance, isn't it supposed to be the other wawy around?

  • It's because I belive when you do the chain clean/lube and Then wash the bike, the water from washing washes and the water gets all up in there in the chain :PP

  • Comment removed

  • Gengibau is right. WD40 will mess up your chain. Just use a KEROSENE for cleaning. And O-ring lubricant, BEL-RAY.

  • read my recent comments

  • Useing WD40 is fine to use on your chain. I've talked to a guy that works at a motorycle shop and he told me pretty much a lot of people use WD40, also, I didn't say use WD40, you can use whatever you want

  • read my comment. notice he uses wd40 to clean not lube it. wd40 is a cleaner/preparent for oils/ meaning it takes it off with the crap then sterilizes it be4 u lube it.

  • you should do a vid on measuring/adjusting chain slack and measuring chain wear :P

  • I'm going to do this vid in the future.

  • good to know lol

  • just a random question why do you love rice so much? lol

  • cause I'm asian...

lol just because it's good with everything

  • hey i have a question rebelyell91 I bought a new bike and recently went out for a ride on the road there was some gravel on the road when i got home (my bike chain has alot of thick black grese on it i dont know if thats cause its new or not ) and there was a bunch of tiny pebbles all stuck to the chain from the road how can i get them off and clean the chain because the grese is really sticky??? thanxs alot

  • I would remove the grease COMPLETELY with a degreaser (that wont' hurt your O rings) like WD-40 would work, clean it COMPLETELY, then clean the WD-40 COMPLETELY off.

then lube it up with chain lube recommended by your dealer or shop. :D

yeah that's not good though, good luck!

  • ok thanks alot for your help i will try that out!!!

  • thanks

  • Just a little tip for you. Obviously you want to avoid getting any WD40 or chain lube on your tyres so I find it helps a lot if you wrap your tyre in cling film (I think you guys call it plastic wrap. You know the stuff you wrap your sandwiches in). After the lubing process you can just pull it off and your tyre remains spotless.

  • I actually did that, with paper towel, worked great. :D thanks!

  • heej, nice video ;)

is it possible to start the engine up, and let the engine turn the wheel? what kind of tires do you use by the way?

maybe 1 or 2 months, and i have my very own ninja :D

    rice 4-ever

  • it's Very Very unsafe to use the engine to turn the wheels (something could get caught in the sprockets, etc.

    Very unsafe to do that.

and the tired I use are Dunlop (dunno the model number sorry :( )

dude I'm happy many people are lovin and getting on the ninja (: ride safe and eat more rice (:

  • you have a point there ;) never thought about that

  • Yeah this dude I knew mashed his finger pretty good lubing under engine power... Not a great idea.

  • lol, life of the teeth?!?! what, you have like 4-5,000 mi on it now. lol. Good vid though man, keep em coming. =]

  • the main purpose of the life of the teeth part was the show others that you should check that :PP

  • lol, i know. just messin

  • im cleaning and im going to lube my chain as i type! great video! bro! have you adjusted your chain? if so may i suggest a quick little vid on how to do so! keep em comming! great help!

  • ya know what? I'll write that idea down and I'll do a video within the next 3 weeks :D

  • good vid bro-I'll be doing one for my maintenance series-I use diesel to clean the chain

  • Awesome, I'll be looking forward to it, and thanks for checkin me out :D

    diesel? that sounds pretty exciting.

  • oh okay thanks man

  • The manual says every 500, but you should do it every 400?

  • I was saying 400 because if you live in a dirty climate (desert dust/dirt) or if you live near the ocean you should clean your chain more often than every 500 miles.

  • Best is 311 miles, 529 miles is the last but mostly it depends what oil/lube you use to lubricate chain. But if you have been riding rainy/wet conditions you have to relube the chain after every ride or the chain gets rusty (mostly next day or after 15h).

If you think that you are too lazy to lubricate chain properly, there are many automatic chainoilers in motorcycle dealers, those do lubricate the chain while you ride your bike.

  • thanks for the info bro. very informative :D

  • Awesome vid bro! Just 2 questions; how often should you do this, and I was wondering if you ate rice on your break lol.

  • 1. the 2008 Ninja 250R Manual says to clean/lube your chain every 500 miles. (I think) (I do it every 2,000 miles) (which I shouldn't, I should do it every 400miles)

and I MOST likely did eat rice.

    thanks for the concern :P

  • wd40 doesn't attack o-ring seal from the chain?

  • as far as I checked/know - it doesn't.

I will look into it sometime though and make a video maybe.

  • cool!

  • hey its me again how long ago did you get your ninja i got mine in august of 08

  • prolly around NOv? maybe, maybe before that.

    I dunno really :P

  • cool bro

  • if it rains alot the wd40 can get washed out of the chain. if u live in a fairly wet contry its best to stick to chain lubes which wont wash straight out. but if u live in quite a dry contry or only use ur bike in the dry. its perfect.

i use castrol race stuff :p

  • I may look into it lol

  • Cool, I don't think I've ever used WD40 to wash the chain before. I'll have to try that. Can't wait to see your waxing vid. I use Turtle Wax :)

  • yeah, I heard WD40 isn't really a problem with it. there is some people out there that Always use WD40 and their chain has pretty good life.

(plus I use WD40 because I dont' feel like going out and buying chain specific cleaners lol)

and stay tuned for the waxing video (I actually already have it made and what not, I like to wait a day or 2 before I post my next vid (more views that way)

  • What state and city you live in?

  • (you're a stalker)

It's Litchfield Park, Arizona (if you look at my profile :P)

  • awesome how often do you do this

  • I try to do it every other week. but that never happens anymore, so now it's every 2-3 weeks.

I try for every 2 weeks.

  • looks easy! can't wait to do it on mine! by the way! where did you get your tank guard and what brand is it! im trying to find one but i cannot find any like these! all the ones i see are really small and skinny! thanks for the vid! be safe!

  • I got mine at Ebay, (very rare) just keep looking around.

I hope you find a great one you like! and not a problem. Ride Safe! :D

  • aww you didn't, I was just joking. don't you watch the office?

  • Your dad ever let you take his cruiser out for a spin? Haha. My dad gave me the chance to take his huge touring Harley out for a spin but I denied because that bike weighs twice the weight of mine!

  • yeah my dad let me ride his 1300. It was kinda boring :P

  • Hey Reb :) nice vids man ... im addicted XD .. anyways ... i was thinking about buying a Kawasaki 250R New as a first bike ... but i got advice from some one that there really slow ... could you tell me speeds and that ? and from your other videos it looks kinda fast tbh :) peace out bro

  • watch my "agressive riding" video. or the "red-lineing" video (you prolly already saw them).

    Anyways, 0-60 is equavilant to a 350z (I hear).

I'd recommend the 250 for someone that hasn't road a street bike before. It's a great bike! :D

  • good vid, informative too :)

  • thanks bro!

  • I always wondered about that. Great video.

"I got lube all over my hands." Thats what she said.

  • I was gonna say the same thing but you beat me to it.
