The invasion of iraq probably was set in motion cause they where started to deal oil in Euro's instead of dollars,If oil is traded in Euro's most countries will send their excess Dollars back to America causing a so called "hyperinflation" and this for a country on the brink of bankrupcy aint a good thing.

The US powerhouse is build on oil and Iraq holds 60% of the world known reserves, most of the oil contracts went to US&UK oil companies (BP, RoyalDutchShell, Halliburton etc.) The dollar is as good as dead,when it loses its role as world currency it will be worthless, but they used WMD's as a coverup to invade Iraq.

Saddam Hussein, an irrational despot (I hope this is consensual and that I don't have to list the reasons supporting this claim) was sitting on one of the most oil-rich lands, a *chokepoint* of the world economy.
