  • Dayprodutions yes I beleave you it is a known fact the majority of Henry j employee's cant stand him. Also I would like say theres a hell of a lot of us guitarist and epiphone owners would to see the great epiphpone guitar company tell Henry j to screw off and once again become there own company lile they befor joining gibson in 1957 and it just might happen!

  • Dayprodutions gibson guitars are being wipe off the face of the earth as far quality by there own sister company epiphone. Epiphone has been putting out top professional quality guitars since 2008. From certain model les pauls to Sg's. More and more professional.guitarist have chosen epiphone over gibson over the the past 4 years for this reason and other reasons. I would never chose a gibson over epiphone. Epiphone only guilt is there way underpriced and gibson has somthing to do with that to

  • ex act lie. well said harvey. tot all lie

  • i have direct and extremely reliable knowledge on this case. gibson is guilty as sin and henry juszkiewicz is an absolute liar from the word go, not to mention a coke head and lunatic. this man is corrupt as it gets. the only thing that gibson has going for it is the les paul and even those now are a far cry from what they used to be. i hope gibson is wiped from the face of the earth and juszkiewicz pays dearly for his rampant hypocrisy. there's a special place in hell for this loser.

  • @anewdayproductions Where is your proof?

  • @muzikscud23 as if i'm going to actually invest my time giving a total stranger on youtube proof for what i said. i said what i said for a good reason and there is more than enough proof. i've had direct dealings with the son of a bitch as well as people i know that have also had direct dealings with him. if you don't want to believe it then don't believe it. i really couldn't care less.

  • @anewdayproductions I wasn't being offensive I just wondered how you'd based your opinion.

  • @muzikscud23 please accept my apology for being so brash. it's just that most people on here are total arbitrary assholes and liars.

  • @anewdayproductions It's fine mate, the internet is full of idiots who enjoy attacking people, I was just curious why you felt so.

  • The Federal raid on Gibson guitar is an OUTRAGE! They are a true American company who manufactures in the U.S., employs Americans, and has been around for 121 years!!! A few of us are protesting with artistic expression and using the proceeds to help out the Ron Paul campaign to put an end to this tyrannical government. On eBay do a search for: "Gibson guitar raided by feds" to see some of the unique artwork protesting the Gibson raid. Help bring back the Republic...VOTE RON PAUL 2012!

  • The CEO of Gibson donates money to the Republican party. The CEOs of Gibson's competitors (who use the exact same materials, BTW) are Democrat donors. Also, Gibson is a non-union shop while their competitors are mostly unionized. But I'm sure it's a TOTAL coincidence. Yeah. Nothing to see here, move along, Citizen.

  • @JayGrabow: nobody's taking anyone at his words. Look at the FACTS. Fact #1: NO charges have been brought in the 2009 raid. What the hell was the legal basis of the raid? Because they felt like it? Fact #2: the DOJ's position is that Gibson violated INDIAN law. What the hell are they doing enforcing OTHER COUNTRIES' law? Fact #3: those rosewood boards were certified by the FSC. If the DOJ has a problem, talk to the CERTIFICATION AUTHORITY that let the damn things OUT of India.

  • Boy our government, it's getting better, it's getting better all the time.

  • So let's just take Juszkiewicz's word for it and try this in the "Court of Public Opinion"? How dumb is that!?

If the DOJ is building a case against Gibson for breaking the law, they're not going to discuss it publicly. So, we've only heard one side of this.

I like Gibsons, and love Warren Haynes' music (he plays Gibsons). But my sympathy ends if Gibson is breaking the law. Should we tolerate illegal activities just because it's an American icon that's breaking the law? I think not.

  • This story is so outrageous, it should enrage all Americans? Who is the "DOJ" now? It certainly is not an American Justice department as the people intend it to be.

    This is out of control!

  • Lets all go buy Gibson Guitars!!!!

  • Ever since Gibson put out the "Bin Laden" Les Paul signature model,

the FBI has been watching them.

    ...

  • India gave the export it's blessing! Our own customs officers gave its blessing!

India's government said Gibson followed its laws on exporting the wood!

It's only OUR Government saying that Gibson didn't follow India's laws!

    Witch hunt..

  • @quantum873 - with respect: Who said India gave the shipment it's blessing, Gibson? I do a lot of imports, exports and other shipments. The easiest way to NOT get into trouble is to be as honest on your paperwork as possible. If you are caught violating the law, your name is put on a "Watch List". That's what happened with Gibson when they broke the law in 2009. That's why they had this recent shipment sent to a third party under a different name. Gibson's got caught red-handed.

  • Screw our boarders and boarder safety, we need to regulate imported wood, which has all the correct customs paper work. Big government at its best.

  • The Luciferfians would not even whisper in secret meetings an idea of this type of tyranny if the King was still alive.

  • Oh Dana, wont you be mine? :)

  • Our government is run by cunts..

  • I would love to taste Dana, she looks good

  • "If nothing else, this incident illustrates the misguided priorities of the Obama administration. Harassing American businesses on frivolous grounds is not exactly what our economy needs at the moment. "

  • One more thing, why can't Gibson make their guitars out of Brazilian Rosewood instead? Oh, that's right! Brazilian rosewood was so over-exploited - by companies like Gibson - that is not readily available on the open market anymore.

  • India and Madagascar have imposed a ban on unfinished rosewood 6mm or thicker - the type used in guitars. Gibson knew this and worked to get around it by A) deliberately mislabeling the wood product as "veneer" and B) having the product shipped to a third party, before final shipment to Gibson. Gibson broke the law, and the US is obligated to enforce banned good by foreign treaty and the Lacey Act. For them to blame it on the Obama admin is truly criminal.

    Shame on Gibson!

  • @Andyerpointiz Bullshit. If they broke the law, then why haven't charges been filed? Huh? They government STOLE the product, but never CHARGED them with any crime!

  • @zivjax - They broke the Lacey Act, which was passed originally in 1900 and updated during the Bush administration, with the new code going into effect in May 2008. The penalty is seizure of product and possible fines. Gibson had already violated the act back in 2009, and should have know better. They were trying to pull the same crap again.

  • @Andyerpointiz WHERE are the Charges?! NOT the warrent, the CHARGES! Don't try to spin this. And why hasn't C.F. Martin been charged?

  • @zivjax - First off, the issue is still in dispute by Gibson, who will either abandon the shipment with no charges, or be charged and lose the shipment anyway. Also, don't overlook the FEDERAL warrant! These are not handed out lightly on the Federal level. As for C.F. Martin, perhaps they conformed to Indian law, go figure? Indian hasn't banned completely Rosewood exports, they have just set conditions on it's export. It appears C.F. Martin complied with the law. If so, good for them.

  • @Andyerpointiz And neither will we overlook the political angle and implications of this.

  • @zivjax - with respect: What political angle? The political economics do not add up. Gibson is profiting more from the cry of political abuse, than the WH would ever gain from singling them out. More likely, Gibson is playing the martyr as a back-channel way of getting some leverage in congress to assist them. If it works, then Indian Rosewood will soon become just as scarce at Brazilian Rosewood. You're being played, dude; by a cynical Wall Street veteran. Do the research and you'll see.

  • @Andyerpointiz What? People can't plant trees? How about that Gibson is non-union, and Obama and crew are in the pockets of unions and use thug tactics to get their way.

  • @zivjax - It takes DECADES (over 5 of them) for the plant to reach a maturity level to which it can be used as "Tonewood". If planting trees were so simple, then Brazilian rosewood would be back on the market already. As to whether or not Gibson is union or non-union, there a thousands of non-union shops in the country, why single out Gibson? If Gibson did NOT knowingly break the law, there would be no issue. Gibson broke the law. Don't sugar-coat it. Don't defend crooks! Gibson broke the law.

  • @Andyerpointiz So what?! Start NOW and start solving the problem rather than sitting on your hands and crying about it. This is political, and don't you deny it.

  • @zivjax - Gibson is playing politics. They broke the law and are using politics to get off the hook. It's that simple: No broken law, no problem. There are companies around the country who are nabbed for the exact same thing, and they are not crying politics. As for solving the problem, Gibson KNEW this was a problem back in 2009 what they got nabbed for it. The Feds have these things called "records", and since Gibson broke the law once, they were being watched. And they got caught again.

  • @Andyerpointiz The Obama Administration is playing politics. Broken law, where are the charges? As for records, Gibson claims to to have records as well. Why are you even still arguing this?

  • @zivjax - I argue this because you seem to have a very simplistic conception of international import/export laws. If a foreign country bans the export of any product, then the US is obligated - by treaty - to seize it. End of story. Millions of items are seized coming into the country each year with no charges being filed - but they still lose their product. The same thing happens with US exports.

You should buy a world atlas - there is more "there" beyond our borders. Get out of the sticks!

  • @Andyerpointiz You an idiot disguised as someone trying to sound smart. If a federal law is broken in the United States, supposedly you get a trial by a jury of your peers after having been formally charged with a crime. If it were an issue with importing these woods, US Customs should have taken recourse and confiscated the materials. They did not because they were LEGALLY obtained. None of these criteria for having broken any laws have been afforded to Gibson. This is an injustice.

  • @shaindaman13 - So, you use childish names - is adult debate too much for you? You should try to be smarter than that. The shipment WAS confiscated. If Gibson were doing this legally, why were the materials shipped to a storage locker in another party's name, instead of directly to the factory? Why mislabel the shipment as being "finished veneer" when it was plain, unfinished planks? If Gibson were honest, why are they not suing their custom's broker who who arranged the shipment?

  • @Andyerpointiz No debate necessary. I'm right and you're not. Customs would have been the one and ONLY agency lawfully within their rights to confiscate any items coming into the country based on the documentation that has been produced by Gibson which specified the materials were purchased legally. The Feds DO NOT have the right to do what they did. And you are still an idiot. Now please, go and be wrong somewhere people do not overwhelmingly disagree with you.

  • @shaindaman13 - A short list of federal agencies that can seize imports crossing US borders are: The FDA, CDC, APHIS, FSIS, GIPSA, FGIS, AMS, ARS, EPA, ATF, FTC, Department of Commerce, the DEA, and a few more (look up the acronyms - it will do you good). All of these agencies can seize inbound property without trial. You can dispute the seizure, but they hold on to the goods until after the legalities are over. Know your government! It's been this way for over a hundred years.

  • @Andyerpointiz Dammit! I know this. That's not what I was saying. My point is it wasn't seized at the border. It was checked and found completely acceptable by US CUSTOMS at the border. It was taken from the factory with no reason why given whatsoever. For god's sake these workers were treated like they were cooking meth. That's not legal.

  • @Andyerpointiz You do know that you environmentalists are causing people to loose money and jobs. Where is your conscious? Why is wood more important than people? You people are ridiculous.

  • @theultimaterockr - Do you know why they are using Indian Rosewood instead of the much more preferred Brazilian Rosewood? Brazilian Rosewood was so over-exploited by companies - like Gibson - that it is nearly impossible to find on the market these days. India want to prevent the same thing happening to them. Gibson knew this, but try to violate the import laws any way.

  • @theultimaterockr - with respect: I like the Gibson brand, but detest short-term outlook corporations. If Gibson does not have a long-term business model, nor R&D resources tosurvive WHEN their products' resources expire, they should not be in business - PERIOD. I am sick of poorly run companies like GM, Chrysler and Gibson playing the martyr in front of the TV cameras because real world conditions mess up with their business model. Don't blame India, don't blame the Feds, blame Gibson.

  • @Andyerpointiz Right fucking on, 1000%!!!

  • This government is out of control. Hope and Change, eh? Like they had in Cuba in 1959.

  • Go to hell, Henry. And take your Firebird Xs with you.

  • I love President Obama; I own two Gibson guitars. Some facts: This C.E.O is a Republican. Gibson can afford to have a closed shop; They do not have the intel to manage them both. Most Gibson players endorse liberals. Gibsons are not really made in America. Opinion: They should give in and open some factories south of the boarder. I do not think this administration gives to Dana dicks about the Gibson Guitar ploparation. Obama sure did a great deed by killing bin laden.

  • The Lacey Act combats trafficking in “illegal” wildlife, fish, and plants. The 2008 Farm Bill (the Food, Conservation, and Energy Act of 2008), effective May 22, 2008, amended the Lacey Act by expanding its protection to a broader range of plants and plant products. Guess who signed that bill, Foxtards? Just guess. BOOOOOOSH!

  • According to Loesch, "some" are wondering if Juszkiewicz is being bullied by the Obama Administration for his "political contributions." Yeah, sure "they" are, Dana. Yes, Mr. Juszkiewicz made a contribution to Mike Huckabee in 2007, and I'm SURE Obama has nothing better to worry about then THAT. Juszkiewicz also gives money to a Consumer Electronics PAC that donates to Republicans AND Democrats -- including Nancy Pelosi. Weak, Loesch. WEAK.

  • @nordstrom Escuse me: "...nothing better to worry about THAN that."

  • @nordstrom - Excellent Point! The problem with a lot of americans is the they don't know when they're being played. Gibson is doing this. The company is led by a Wall Street veteran who received his education via General Motors (it's true, look it up!) Now, like GM, he is complaining that real world circumstances don't fit his corporate model. A real business leader would already have explored a solution. Gibson's solution is to violate the law, then cry foul.

  • Let's quickly knock down one of Breitbart's Big Bullshit propaganda points: The insanely paranoid notion that Gibson has been targeted by the Obama administration for being in a so-called "Right-to Work" state. So are Bendetto Guitars (Georgia) and Peavey guitars (Mississippi). Both use Rosewood/ebony. Neither have been raided. Try again, lying rightwing assholes.

  • I'm waiting to see how many Liberal Gibson guitar playing musicians step up and denounce the Obama administration over this. Where are they?

  • Dont use this to further some political agenda. Political agendas are whats CAUSING THE PROBLEMS. Get that.

Best thing to do is write your congressman, and let them know how F'd up this is.

BUY A GIBSON PRODUCT. WHATEVER YOU CAN AFFORD. A GUITAR. PICKUPS. STRINGS. IF IT SAYS GIBSON>>> BUY IT.

That's how we can help Gibson and show our support.

  • Political Commentary: (W.W.R.D = What Would Reagan Do) / Would President Ronald Regan have allowed this form of despotism to occur? NO....Will Congressman Dr Ron Paul as President in 2012 allow this to ever happen again? NO.....Vote YES for Ron Paul 2012 to save America from Despotism.

  • this is the true face of liberalism. tyranny and intimidation. is this America or Nazi Germany? unreal.

  • This is what the Government does with it's time, with all what's going on now with

    our country.

    Hundreds of job at jepody.

This is insane, t's a sad day to be an American

  • "an unconstitutional act is not a law. It confers no rights. It imposes no duties. It affords no protection. It creates no office. It is in legal contemplation as inoperative as though it had never been passed. Therefore an unconstitutional act purporting to create an office gives no validity to the acts of a person acting under color of its authority."

    ~Norton v. Shelby County, 6 S.Ct. 1121

  • If you sit home waiting your turn you deserve to have your gun taken from your cold dead hands.

The Founders didn’t wait for the Brits to knock down their doors. They gathered at the green and stood up like men and they killed government employees all the way back to Boston.

What will you do when it’s time to hunt NWO hacks, republicrats and commies(“Liberals” and ‘progressives’)?

Don't understand? Follow my links. Read the quotes page first. Then read my column ‘Prepping for Slavery’

  • @waypasthadenough So you're telling YouTube viewers to go out and kill "government employees?" Hmmm. Perhaps someone should notify the FBI.

  • Obama Jobs Plan = Jack-Boot, intimidate, create fake laws to punish your political enemies. And if they fight back? ....... Give em a full dose of Obamacare!!!

  • Good job, Mr. President. Maybe Gibson should outsource their production to India. I bet you'd like that, wouldn't you?

In the meantime, I'm going to go out and buy a Gibson guitar. I have no idea how to play, but it's my way of showing support for an ICONIC AMERICAN COMPANY.

  • @vince277 Ah, just buy one of their Made-in-China Epiphones.

  • Comment removed

  • This has got to be Bush's fault somehow. I'm not sure yet how, but it's got to be. Let's see,, how can we blame this on Bush? Ideas anyone?

  • As if it was ever a mystery that the goal of the American government is the DESTRUCTION of America, here is yet another proof that is EXACTLY what they R all about =)) Oh, & if America can B rammed down the toilet 2 B even more like Africa, so much the better. Hey let's pretend it's a good idea 2 have a turd 4 president HAHAHAHA

  • ARMED agents shut down Gibson guitar using automatic weapons WITHOUT naming charges? Have you seen Gibson's workforce? Half of them are apple-pie making polyester-wearing elderly ladies. Holy shit.

We're sending our sons and daughters overseas to die for oil and at home we're raiding a factory full of ladies with bifocals and hairnets? Every single agent who participated and boss who planned these raids without charges should be FIRED and BLACK-LISTED from ever serving any law agency again.

  • Obama will Pry my Gibson out of My Cold Dead Hands!

Obama hates a Company The Government or Communist Unions do not run.

  • The one thing that stood out for me was when he said "We have to prove that what we're doing is legal".

That's very disturbing. The burden of proof in this country has always been on the accuser. So is this a sign of worse things to come?????

  • Oh they are soooo bad. I guess companies like monsanto are just little angels to the DOJ. What a crock

  • When it comes out that your $3500 "Made in USA" guitar is not quite 100% "Made in the USA", tell me how much support you have for them then. That's the rumor in the guitar industry. There's more to this than "the feds harrassing a good ol' US company". The Gibson company is a bunch of corporate fucking slimeballs.

  • @jacknuts22

    Amen.

  • Let's run off the few remaining American companies still in business so everybody is entirely dependant on the government. Jackasses need to tackle some real criminals instead of imaginary foes.

  • Gibson is the only guitar company targeted by the Obama DOJ under the Lacey Act. Tennessee is a right-to-work state. Fender, Taylor, Rickenbacker, Danelectro, Carvin, MusicMan, ESP, Spector, Martin, Guild, Ovation, Hamer, Alvarez, B.C. Rich, Heritage, and Washburn are all in forced-union states. Peavey is in the right-to-work state of Mississippi; since 2009 it has been the target of multiple lawsuits alleging that its products fail to meet federal safety and emissions standards.

  • Sue the Government and win public opinion! - I hope Gibson becomes stronger, hires more people and sells tons of guitars through this!

  • @thejollylamas

So do I. But I'll probably just buy a bunch of Chinese knockoffs made by 10-year-old laborers. Their finishes are better and their neck joints are stronger. Plus they counterfeit good designs and haven't copied the Firebird X...yet.

  • Very interesting.
