  • If speed is the game everyone on this planet is faster than any military aircraft could hope to be :-p (see what i did there)

  • This was and so far is the only home built to exceed the sound barrier... unfortunately it was not built strong enough and most of them came apart in the air.

  • wait a minute.... this guy is claiming that be broke the sound barrier in a home made aircraft?

  • @BWCmike this guy is dead... by the same plane...

  • It can't be that bad, James Bond flew one through a barn and survived.

  • It's the love child of an F-5 Tiger and an F/A-18 Hornet.

  • @Amar7605 ...and a midget :)

  • PS....that geriatric wanker claimed Mach 1.4 in an early Kitplane add from the 90's here in front of me - a F-4F Phantom II is realistically pushing hard to reach that..but in my time, havent seen a F-4 fall apart like a Walwart toy under 350mph...let alone Mach 1.4..:-)

  • First one to throw a shock wave in a BD-10, I buy a beer...its another 1m$ + widow maker from BEDE..nothing else, look at the history of those designs! Very few, very talented brains got a BD-5 flying properly, even less with the turbo jet version. The Granville Brothers had a bad reputation, but they were just ahead of time....but that plastic wannabe fighter is just a rich man's quick way in to a pine box...as history has shown..

  • They were first: Marganski Myslowski EM-10 Bielik Jet

    Second: Javelin ATG

  • If the construction had worked out it would have been a dream to own and fly....

  • Just another death trap...

  • The BD-10 is notorious. There was a vertical stabilizer failure issue that ultimately killed three pilots in three separate but similar crashes. Jim Bede claimed to have fixed it after the first crash, but the data for his fix was erroneous and caused two more deaths. The airplane did not and never would have the ability to fly at supersonic speeds, as it was both underpowered and overweight as built.

  • Apparently 5 were built. 3 of them crashed and the remaining 2 are grounded and now used as displays.

  • That's really fucking cook

  • I think it must run on battery power...

  • ..whoa, so this IS an actual kit-buildable supersonic aircraft? sorry for throwing bullshit then :P

  • those resemble closely what I occasionally build when I get bored. I have a stockpile of around 50 of them, anybody need one? though they can only fly at mach 1.5 :/

  • I built one of these last week out of some bits I had left lying around in my shed. Cost me about £40. Flys really well.

Although I am in hospital now cos I forgot I needed wheels to land. :-)

  • @djrockerbones why do you lie ?

  • @stephenmdweiss does he? I can't see where. it's a shame that he's hospitalized, don't mock him :(

  • make a home-built coffin..just incase..

  • I was reading the specs on this. Simply awesome. A total shame only 5 were built.

  • THE FAA IS pissed off cause someone did this for under 2 billion, and they want it for themselves, anything goverment sucks , but of course this plane is a peaceful plane and the faa cant have competion, but love it hope it works well for you

  • Why doesnt the army resond?

    do you have premission

  • yeah, after seeing this I build one out of some spare parts I had laying around in my garage. It was a weekend well spent ! Sure makes the commute to work a little quicker. hahaha. anyway I'm building one with 4 seats to go down to Florida next year.

  • it only misses a few missiles...

  • looks like a baby F-14

  • And it costs how many milions?

  • nice kit...

  • Ffโด โด duoduo

  • Cool plane, but I still prefer to fly one of these:

    /watch?v=ZWnW-OuggoE

  • wow thats just a toy jet... otherwise how would they get video up in the air?

  • @MrFunnybunny94 maybe with another jet smartass...

  • @MrFunnybunny94 hmm, i wonder, might they have another jet flying alongside? use your brain mr genius.

  • Dear Santa,.......

  • sounds like a good weekend project

  • now how can u make that in your home?

  • In Germany you are killed if you build you own plane and fly with it :D sorry for my englisch I am from Germany :D

  • @MrSenzey wenn du den nötigen Pilotenschein hst,und der Vogel durch den"TÜV" kommt, nicht.

  • What happened to the remaining two BD-10s? I heard they were unflyable.

  • I can get you a Sukhoi SU-30 in Venezuela! Much Cheaper!

  • Hope it handles better than the BD-5 did.

  • can i load it up with hellfire?

  • @ThleTruth Jet fuel is easier to obtain and actually exists. If you're talking about the missile, don't be stupid.

  • @moomoo1337 :D

  • I think i have seen this aircraft in Springfield, Missouri. If i remember right, it was in route to a paint job in the 90's years.

  • To bad FAA ground BD10 for killing pilots.

  • And it's so quiet

  • @fdzwes stealth

  • I HAVE to know the cost on this. Under 200k?

  • THIS WAS EASY TO FAP TO

  • Sure....! and i got a mate who drives a M-1A2 to work...

    Stop lying jeez.

  • Since when could the BD-10 achieve supersonic speeds?

  • thats not supersonic

  • This looks awesome, although i don't like the idea of "home built" and "jet" put so close together. lol . I saw L39 for sale for 150K however it cost like 2000 an hour in fuel. lol

  • @hondacrxrus Jet fuel is keroscene no?

  • @EricMorseRacing no Jet A is around 5 ~ 6 dollars a gallon and keroscene is a much cheaper grade like anywhere from 1.25 per gallon to 3.50 if you want to clogg your 30k dollar fuel system and have a engine flame out go and most likely die. Go right a head and put keroscene in you jet.

  • only 7 built- 5 crashed- 2never flown-5deaths.

  • @cod4madass is that true?

  • @cod4madass Yes.

  • how the hell are you gonna gave a supersonic jet video with no sound?

  • This is the jet that killed it's owners.

  • nice!

  • NOT SUPERSONIC DO NOT BELIEVE IT, PERIOD. CLOSE ONLY

  • i have a five seater MIG 21 for my family.

  • @MrBhargab123 liar. mig 21 was a fighter. it did NOT have five seats, and to fit seats for five people the passengers would have to be about the size of a 3 year old.

  • damn, im no longer so proud of that first Testor model i built when i was 9.

  • would this be a kit built plane?

  • cool where can i get one?

  • @coolzmanz53

you cab buy some fighter jets if you want too and if you have the money i heard from a friend of mine that some crazy billionere in russia even owns a mig 29 without the arms though

  • In supersonic video mode you cannot hear any sound in the video :p its outta human auditory range!

  • Where does one purchase a jet engine?

  • Comment removed

  • supersonic home made jet.......of more than 9000 thousands millions of dollars

  • The BD-10 was developed to be supersonic, using surplus J-85 engines. Unfortunately, there were issues that arose to prevent it from safely operating in that relm, and the FAA tends to frown on going supersonic over land.

  • @MadMichigander1313

There is an airport waling distance from lake ontario that probably could handle this thing

And it's more so over populated areas...

  • its sub sonic under the speed of sound,my guess is no more than 500 mph for this jet, even that may be pushing it.

  • everyone that is disapointed about not seeing it go supersonic need to shut up. the frst time the BD-10 went supersonic it exploded and killed the test pilot.

  • @konichiwa2467

Well what's the point. If it's not capable of flying at supersonic speeds then it's not a supersonic aircraft. That's just as dumbass as me posting my BMW 320i as a 'supersonic beemer' driving at 100mph and saying that the last time I tried to go supersonic the wheels fell off.

  • @konichiwa2467 Doesn't that kinda prove the BD-10 isn't a supersonic jet? Just a theory.....

  • and not a single video of it actually going super sonic

  • @DrOhReally it doesn't have to have the white "dome" in the front or the back of the jet for it to be supersonic. The "dome" is just the heat of the engines, or jet itself, meeting with a high amount of water vapor in the air. Causing it to have that familiar look. The jet could be going supersonic during the whole entire video.

  • @HopliteAlex oh I know that, I was referring to the "point of entry" if you will

  • @HopliteAlex The "dome" you are referring to is actually a visible means of the shockwave that is formed due to air molecules being compressed as the plane reaches Mach 1. On the other side of the compression wave, the pressure drops rapidly causing the temperature to do the same and makes the condensation (or "dome" as you referred to it) clearly visible. It really has nothing to do with the heat of the engines, honestly.

  • @HopliteAlex Seriously.... let's just make sure what you're posting to attempt to prove someone wrong is in fact correct, because you happen to be quite wrong.

  • @alexkmmll actually what I said is correct in some cases that pilots and engineers have found. So i was in some cases correct. So you might want to go back to school and not sleep through class.

  • @HopliteAlex Water vapor forms when the temperature around the aircraft is enough to cool the traces of water within the exaust to cool and form water vapor. This often happens at high altitudes further behind the jet.

The only other time you would see something similar to a dome is when an aircraft leaves white streaks in a tight turn or along the wingtips, which is compressed air molecules; the same effect caused by going supersonic, but on a much smaller scale.

  • @alexkmmll well lets say this jet was at about 5,000 feet, most likely its not. This is lower then what most planes or jets are at. Clouds can form both higher and lower then this height. So moisture is present. The engines would heat up the metal of the jet, which would hit the moisture that is on the jet, or around it. This would hit the temp which is at 41 F. This rapid change would make the heated up moisture cool, making the what I say a dome be shown

  • @HopliteAlex In order for what you described to happen, water vapor would have to be present in the atmosphere before hitting the aircraft. If water vapor is not present, then the temerature is too high for water vapor to form. This would mean the aircraft would have to fly through thick clouds or extremely dense fog in order for this effect to occur, even though it would not be visable. Plus, condensation happens far behind the aircraft, meaning you would not see a visable dome.

  • wife replies: WTF is this in our driveway!!

  • WTF ????? HOMEBUILD ?!?!?! coool

  • I'd buy an F16 instead...

  • @pixelsilva.. The founder of Peregrine was one of those killed in the aircraft. The Viper Jet is much more refined an aircraft.....refinement costs though.

  • Never made it supersonic. My father owned one of the only 2 still flying. Single engine, no hot seats. And yes, it killed a few pilots.

  • @cataylor100 ..its a Bede 10 design, today its being (or was) developed by Peregrine Aviation

  • OMGOMG i dont where i saw one of these but i was like 3 years old and have been looking for them ever sense!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i thought that when imma grow up that im gonna live in one of these jet planes lol.... guess my dream newer will come true..:(

  • Better not let North Korea or Russia see this, Russia will steal the "technology" right off it's back LOL and the North would just get it and fly it in one of it's retarded Military displays LOL

  • Comparing this to a mig or f18 is like comparing a peterbilt 379 to a ford escort.

  • You can buy a Mig. All it take is money. I was at a small air show last year and there was Mig flying. I went over and talked to the pilot. He was a guy in his early 40's and was a retired Air Force pilot. He told me his wife bought the jet for him as a birthday present. I met her too. She and her family were in the "oil business" in Texas. He flew the Mig from Texas to SC. It was from the early 1950's. It looked old but he had the balls to fly it. I guess it pays to marry well!

  • @ColMajor haha yea and a Very understanding wife...

  • @ColMajor and discounted fuel too! (or so he would hope)haha

  • @ColMajor are you for real

  • @ColMajor I will verify that MIG. Saw it at the Montgomery County Airport. Never met the pilot, but I have a friend whos dad runs an FBO there. Cool plane but everything is in Russian lol. I cant remember how many volts, but my buddy said just starting the thing was crazy. It was grounded on Sept 11. Never heard much about it again. That airport has a resto shop with some WWII planes at the time. Even had a Zero.

  • did you get that approved by the FAA?

  • Priсe?

  • miniature f-18?

  • Actually it killed 3 test pilots but one's not talking

  • Where is the sound in this video?

  • dude why copy the blue angels????? just buy one and know its safe and DEFINATELY brakes the sound barrier

  • I think my RC Jet is Faster. lol

  • yeah yeah. I got one of those.

  • I really wouldn't consider this homebuilt if it's made that good

  • i think that considering the guy had the money, technology, and skills to build what is essentially a home built fighter plane, he probably also has the technology and brains to build one that can achieve supersonic speeds. the guy is probably an aerospace engineer or something like that. :)

  • I am building my own home built 747 in the garage!

  • Mate, I'm a pilot, and even though it'd be awesome to have sth. afforrdable and supersonic, I guess you're right.

  • Bolivian aircraft army

  • wheres the sonic boom! give me a kit car over this thing any day

  • They all get built somewhere.

  • Homebuilt doesn't mean bad. If the constellation and building effort is perfect, it should fly save supersonic. But the mayor part while going super sonic in an not electical trimmed airplane with an airplane that is labil int the air like this airplaneis the effort the pilot has to work out. You got to be skilled and get some flying lessons supersonic to face it.

  • @jawnlooi Take a good look. The leading edge at the wing tip is aft of the leading edge at the wing root

  • It can't go supersonic without swept wings.

  • @farmer6987 Sure you can go supersonic without swept wings. It just kills you in the process.

  • i bet he always uses a parachute for landing :D

  • WHAT supersonic ? the video is no-sonic...

  • @SKABILIS LOL...your right

  • @SKABILIS (and everyone who voted up his comment) this jet is capable supersonic speeds they just aren't going that fast in the video.... its just a showcase of the design dummies lol

  • Why have one of these when you can buy a MiG?

  • @damaged01 Probably chaper too LOL....

  • @damaged01 you can't buy this...

  • @damaged01 Why would you want a MiG when this thing is vastly better for fuel economy? That's a big deal, considering Jet-A is about $5.95 a gallon, and MiGs are notorious for bad fuel economy.

  • @damaged01 at the time you could build it with your own hands in your shed

  • @damaged01

    Spare parts are a bitch.

  • @damaged01 Nothing like building your own, it's all about pride!

  • @damaged01 Really? And where are you going to fly this Mig, that is if you can get your letter, then there is the fuel, maintenance, etc. I have a friend who owns a Mig-15, a Mig-17, and an L-29. The L-29 is the simplest of the three in all respects, it also gets flown the most. If Jim Bede had gotten his shit together and if they had not killed one of their test pilots this idea might have made it!

  • @sakoshooter48 I would think that if you even had the money to blow on buying a mig in the first place... that money is no factor -__-

  • @Uunster Migs are cheap, we bought four of them for fifteen grand apiece delivered. Not only that, we had to deal with the ATF because they arrived in their coffins full up.

  • @Uunster Actually - no joke at all - I saw a mig for cheap as shit on the internet once. Just because you think they are expensive means NOTHING. Clearly you are talking out of you ass. If you can fix it and can fill it with kerosene... it's not horribly expensive to get your hands on. Why do you think the damn things are still in service? The damn things shot down more American Aircraft in Vietnam than you can possibly imagine, too.

  • @Sviolinist what exact numbers do you have to back that statement up?

  • @Uunster Oh, yeah, and the mig isn't horribly different from the BD-10. It's the same general idea. Cheap as hell supersonic aircraft. The bombs and machine gun that you strap to them are almost more expensive than the plane itself. Especially if we're talking big bombs or air-to-air missiles. Maybe you should research this a *little* better and also stop believing everything that you read on Wikipedia and some other disinfo sources.

  • @Sviolinist What the fuck are you talking about you troll?

  • @Sviolinist are you mentally retarded? Please remove yourself from the aircraft world.

  • @damaged01 Jesus, I made 1 smart-assed comment 3 months ago and now you guys are all taking it so seriously. lol

  • @damaged01 nice 1, lol

  • @damaged01 You can buy MiG's?

  • @CadenBurleson

yeah - I even saw a Sukhoi SU-27 for sale (15 mil american)

    Mig 17s 19s, 21s are CHEAP

  • @evilsnuffalupagus Yeah let me just whip out my 15 mill lol.

  • @damaged01 Haha I like how people are getting up ya when you were just being a smart ass ;) I would buy a MiG though.

  • @damaged01 because not many people have 20 mil just lying around.

  • @damaged01

My guess is that not only is the BD cheaper to buy, it's *much* cheaper to operate.

  • @ecoputsch No migs are cheaper to buy and probably cheaper to run. I can't see how a limited production plane would have less available spares or have fewer knowledgeable technicians that could service it than a mass produced Mig.

I suspect people who would buy this probably already have a few migs. I think this planes selling point would have to come from it's uniqueness and its easier, safer non-military flight characteristics. The only material advantage is that this has a unused airframe.

  • @damaged01 you can but unlike this aircraft you cant legally fly it..

  • @kumathebulldog Actually you can! I work at an airport on the general aviation side and there is a MiG-17 parked over by one of the FBO's.

  • @damaged01 lol.. k

  • @damaged01 Do you work at KGEG?? -__-

  • @Uunster Yes I do. I work line at Flight Center.

  • @damaged01 Iam a student over at UND. haha

  • @damaged01 Asshole, at least you have the money I could get one of those, and also in this case is a matter of personal Engineering dream and work.

Tell me do you have such ammount of money to buy a MiG?

  • @redhotaxel2505 Of course not. I was making a joke. Dumbass.

  • @GPNflyman1 Trolling or lacking knowledge.

Pro-tip: Look at the wing and control surface designs. Look at a pic. of a MiG 29 and an Su 27. Then look back at this little guy.

  • Cool jet. I like how he took cues from the MiG and Sukhoi designs with a little F/A 18 thrown in for good measure. I'd do the same but take all MiG cues.

  • this thing is just asking to get shot down by the military!!

  • those go just undersubsonic

  • 0:47 F-14

  • It never worked. But the viper flies great and so does cri-cri.

  • Yeah, I highly doubt that person wasn't a fighter pilot who won the lottery.

  • didn't this guy kill himself trying to prove this thing was supersonic?

  • @iostream999 How do you know?
