The video clips at 0:47 are videos of the Communist persecution of the Russian Orthodox Church, they are not videos of the persecution of the Old Believers (in fact, they didnt even have video during Tsar Peter's reign!)
Katalia or whatever her name is... Is not Old Believer and she will never be one, she's not Russian. she needs to stick to her own culture , Old Rus is Slavic ONLY!
These are people willing to stand up and be counted. They are non-conformists to a depraved and reprobate society (like the United States of America and Canada). Russia (under Peter The Great) became just as depraved and reprobate.
The Old Believers are merely just the people who refused to compromise.
@bezmolvie I know Im not that stupid :), but it seems like they did it on purpose showing Russian Tzar and than probably jewish bolshevik braking the cross on a orthodox church. You probably know who destroyed Cathedral of Christ the Saviour in Moscow.Peace
@steinXL@steinXL it really makes no difference, because the official church and the post-rurikov monarchist government (almost with a sole exception of Nicholas II) has been destroying and stealing our churches (solovetsky monastery and many many others), killing christians (there are whole writings on how it is pious to persecute the "schismatics", i.e. old believers), and fabricating historical documents (acts on martin the heretic).
(cont.) so even though the video might be misleading, it is better to show this then to actually tell about the persecutions... it would make russians look way worse ;) though i really don't see any russia vs. america sentiment here...
It means, that: the Old Believers are a decent, honorable people compared to the television journalist doing the news coverage. He (along with the rest of the general population) merely confirms the statement I have been making in the last few days (when I look around and a see people in society coming and going).
"Here I am in a wasteland of stupidity surrounded by sheer idiocy!"
Pagans, heretics, and apostates are the society in general. That's what I mean.
Thank you for the video! I did not know that there are old believers somewhere except for Russia and Latin America.
There are many old believers in Russia! A part of my family are Russian old believers. One of my granmoms gave me a lestovka which is the same as the ones the people on video have in their hands! Fantastic!
I wish there was more said about the Old Believers in the Woodburn area. I am very curious about our Old Beliver neighbors, and would like to know how their religious life is done.
Very nice and true story! I am an oldbeliever from Romania and I am glad that there are old believers all over the world!! I wish you luck and happiness all who watch this video and have Russian blood in your vines! Also, I recommend you to watch OSTROV the movie. It`s about old believers from Russia.
He seems to be a very good priest. I hear about Oregon and Alaska sometimes from the Braila priests. I hope to move there after college...maybe even join the monastery...

I went to Nikolaevsk in August. It's not as strange of a town as you'd expect.

I used to make and wear that serafan dress, and the apron, too. It is simple and beautiful. I wonder if dresses will ever come back?

"Frozen in time"? I'd take my chances with "frozen in time" over the love of many that has waxed cold.
