Of course its inacurrate. This whole movies concept and image is false. Ed Gein believed and got interested in death-cult magazines which eventually led him to believe that it was part of the ritual to dig graves and exhume the corpses. However, he did mutilate them. Investigators and reporters said they found many body parts scattered throughout his house. He just believed it was part of the ritual of which he thought the women were resembled to be his mother. However, it was still gruesome.

Many people believe that The Texas Chainsaw Massacre originated from this. Im not sure about that statement, but im pretty sure that nothing of that category had happened. People misinterpret and automatically prejudge, thus stating false meanings behind the whole story. The story of Eg Gein was an inspiration for the whole Massacre theme. It is similar in the sense that it had to do with the exhume of corpses and wearing them as masks, but I really dont think he was the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
