    THANKS MOM AND DAD!

  • Some time back (about 1 year ago) there was a B/W video on YouTube of Mouth & McNeal singing this song in English and appearing to have much fun between the two. Near the end of the video Mouth picked up Maggie and was swinging her back and forth while she was laughing quite a bit. I guess that particular video was removed from YouTube, as I can no longer find/access it. Does anyone know anything as to this video...and where it can be found?

Thanks very much for any help.

  • Thanks so much for posting this takes me back almost 40 years as i was only 8 years old when this song came out and like it ever since it's been out..

  • 1972

  • Thank You so very damn much for posting this, I was visiting my Mom and her and I were singing thisd song and I told her how I miss it and then it dawned on me to look on youtube, OMG!!!! I haven't seen my Mom/Dad in 1 year and just 2 yesterday saying to look and here YOU are, Aho=Thank You in my Language!!!!

  • very cool

Scooter covered it but the original is just the best

  • scooter covered this in one of their songs, pretty cool if you ask me

  • Does anyone know where I can download this song. There is a Duetch and Spanish version too!

  • iTunes has several versions - but not the "Mouth & MacNeil" original. You can also use the converter that is a free download at "vixy(dot)net - it works slick to convert youtube videos nto a mp3 audio file. Mac or PC

  • Check this out. My space music Mouth and Mac Neal. The song was on the profile.

So I transferred it back to tape (reel to reel 15ips), ran it through my audicity program, cleaned it up, re-imported it, and boom A stereo version of the songs.

    thanks for the quick reply!

    Big Lou 48

  • Theresa McDonald where are you?

  • thats a good point thank god thet created this song

  • very nice song i love it

  • So sad that he had to die. Every time I hear this song it brings tears to my eyes. To bad todays music sux and will NEVER be as good as the music from the 60's 70's and 80's.

  • You're so right!

Today's music is so bad and I like also the good old music from the 60s, 70s and 80s.

  • how do you do,la la la la la la la

  • Remember - without this version, there would be no Scooter version - nor "Party Animal" version that Scooter sampled from.

  • is this version on itunes??

  • The iTunes version currently up is the Australian band "Jigsaw" covering the original. There are also some recent remixes, but unfortunately, I see that the "Windows" version- (both the German and English) is no longer up. When I looked last year, they had the "Windows" German and English up, but no "Mouth & MacNeil" original.

Amazon has two versions of mp3 downloads, the "Johnny Chester And Jigsaw" version from 1972 and one by a newer group called "The Wana-Bees" covering the original.

  • hel mooi!!!

  • I'm German...and the Windows-Version of this Song is german and not dutch :-)

  • Please read the updated information under the "More Info" tab - top right....

To date, I have found three version of the original Hans van Hemert - Harry van Hoof song "How Do You Do"

Along with several recent remixes. It's strange, but the only version of the original that I have found on iTunes is the the "Jigsaw" & "Jigsaw & Johnny Chester" version from Australia. I have links to videos of all three versions up if you go to "More Info"

More versions? To quote George W "Bring'emon"

  • Yes its a dutch "band", but the Version at the end is 100% german language, iam german and i also speak dutch.

    From the german wikipedia:

The german version in this video seems to be from "Die Windows" with singer "Peter Petrel", they covered the song in german/english.

  • Thanks! Yes, I have been spending WAY too much time this morning updating this! More info that I found has been posted as well as links to video of all three groups versions - The "Jigsaw" version caught me off guard a bit!

I know that it was not unusual in the 60's for several versions of the same song.

For Americans, the Mouth & MacNeil version is still the best remembered. I recall that I got a "K-Tel" LP with hits from the day (mostly covers) and "The Windows" version was on that LP.

  • It was also the version with Mouth and MacNeil that was famous in Denmark.

Thank you for uploading it. Great music.

  • At the end is it German, did not listen to the end but M&M are Dutch

  • Sorry for not updating this with new information - the German version is not Mouth & MacNeil - but a German cover by "The Windows" - if you dig back into the posts you will see that I have been corrected by the children of both groups! Here are videos of both...

    Mouth and MacNeil:

    watch?v=2skBGdyoMkk

A bit strange that the only version on iTunes (other than the remixes) is by "Jigsaw"... Not the "Sky Hgh" Jigsaw that I remember. Another old gem by the way.

    The Windows:

  • doesn't it seem like they forgot the na-na-na-na words

  • It brings me back to my childhood! Very good!!!

  • This is a great song. It was very rare for a European song [not from England] to become a hit in the USA. This German song was one of the few exceptions, so was Mocedades's "Eres Tu," from Spain.

  • German? It is Dutch!

  • No, that is german.

  • No it is Dutch,

I know Maggy in person, her name is Sjoukje Smit.

  • As you can see in my last post, I was confused when I made this - the Mouth and MacNeil version I have is English - but the "Windows" version is German.

  • sad that he died.he was great

  • does anybody know the title or who sang the spanish version?

  • Brings back 1972.......

  • I'm quite disappointed of the german version. While the singers are still really great the lyrics have been slaughtered to a most cheesy love song.

  • oh and it came out may 1972, rite i think.

  • i was in the 9th grade at kenndy jr high school, in waltham mass, i love this one hit wonder, thank you for playin this.

  • thanks for posting such a great song. i get teary-eyed listening to this happy song and remembering it from my childhood.

  • it's really funny that scooter would use a song like this as the basis for their tune

  • There's nothing more uplifting....or sad...than the songs from your youth....I love the one hit wonders especially...Thank you

  • i like it i Hope i listend It lot << Maggie mcneal and willem mouth

  • thank you for an awesome song

  • thank you for a great song

  • this one brings back fun memories of teasing my bother by singing the chorus part over and over...drove him crazy...how I loved this tune when I was a little kid

  • another "blast from the past" WOW! thanks!

  • Fix the title? its "MacNeal"

  • Ein super song, wobei mir die englische version besser gefällt :)

  • my friend found an old cassette tape with this on it and played it for me and i fell in love with it, thank you so much for putting this on here
