What a memory jolt! As a young teenager, in the early 70s, I was a huge fan of Roller Derby. The Chiefs were my favorite team, and I saw them a couple of times at the Long Island Arena, in Commack, NY. Judy McGuire was the jammer, and Sandy Dunn was the "muscle." Oh, to be young again!
blinko, are you saying that, like the beatles, roller derby was classic entertainment, that it was enjoyed by millions around the world, and that its fans, past and present, wish it had never gone away? Are you saying its sad that roller derby is gone, just as its sad that the beatles are gone? Or is this just your best attempt at being sarcastic? Tater

Any incarnation of Roller Derby is better than none! I do agree the 70's were great for our beloved sport, things change tho!

The ARSD is now on KOFY-TV, channel 20 in S.F. Let's hope they syndicate the games on a national basis.

There's a big difference between the ARSD games and the roller derby games like the one shown in this video..and the difference isn't for the better.
