I love all the comments about preferring c-sections to delivering vaginally. The vagina does go back to normal. I was on my feet and walking normally in a day. Whereas my SIL took weeks to recover from her C-section. They are major surgery, cutting through layers of fat and muscle, and require a longer hospital stay and are much more painful. They're definitely a "last resort" method. And once you've had one, it's pretty much a given that you'll have to do it for subsequent pregnancies.
