  • your new Superflash Turbo?

  • @Porgot138 That's the standard SuperFlash 1/2-watt. I haven't seen the Turbo in person yet. From Planet Bike's videos, the Turbo appears to fire the big LED in brief bursts, like the standard SuperFlash does, which should keep the battery life reasonably long. That's been a problem with a couple of other 2-AAA taillights I've tried where the LEDs spend a lot of time "ON" and run the batteries dead quickly.

  • Thanks for posting this. These are the two tail lights I was considering. Looks like Superflash is the winner. I did, however go with the Princeton Tec Eos headlight over the Planet Bike Blaze 2W, since it has a better dispersion pattern.

  • Im more interested in side angle view. How do these blinkies perform at 90* angle?

  • the Superflash

  • Anyone know how this compares to a Blackburn Mars 3.0? The Blackburn looks alot nicer plus has amber sides whereas the Superflash is just a retina burning flashing light, lol. Though the Blackburn is more traditional multi led's instead of just one big one. CRC have both at roughly the same price

Ooops, it appears that I replied to DaZoneRanger instead of you (-: Please look for my previous post here for the beginning of my opinon on Mars 3.0 (-:

... the button that is somewhat awkward to find with gloved hands (surely, the huge industrial-sized safety-catch-styled toggle-switch on the Swerve looks and might feel sooooo much better) and the need to take the case apart with a small Philips screwdriver to change the 2 AAA batteries. It is now rumored to have ...

  • ... It is now rumored to have been equipped with coin slot for disassembly (I remember reading one thread on one forum where a guy "just couldn't find how it comes apart" (((-:) And as for the gloves, it might just be my gloves that turned out to be a bit baggy at the thumbs (the button is at the very top of the unit, so these are basically the fingers to press it while reaching under the saddle when forgetting to turn it on as you kick off).

  • Hmmm....The Superflash still seems to be king of the cheap blinkies. I was expecting the Swerve, with it's 1w LED to outperform the 1/2w LED of the Superflash, but judging by this video, it does not. Superflash is definitely the handsdown bang-for-your-buck winner.

  • according to the princeton tec website, the swerve has two 1/2watt leds. If you like the superflash, you chould check out the niterider cherrybomb

  • @DaZoneRanger

I'm using a Mars 3.0. I can't say it is just as bright, but it can boast 3 modes (steady, flash and chase, the latter being the most economical and my favorite; the flash mode might be not so retina-burning, but does slap the eyes when looked at) and 2 side amber panels (I'm not sure what color the respective side LEDs have, but it comes as amber outside (((-:). There are 5 total of red LEDs (or just LEDs under red cover). The only downsides I can point out are the button ...

  • Funny how i like the swerve pattern way better.. in my book swerve wins

  • No competition.... the Superflash wins hands down! Good thing the Swerve isn't available here yet and I bought a Superflash last week :)
