@milotist Rottweilers were originally bred to be used more as working dogs and would pull small carts. Docking the tails kept them out of the way of the cart, it was a safety issue. Eventually it just became routine. A lot of breeders are starting to get away from docking now that it isn't a safety issue anymore.

Roxy only 125?? That's the perfect size, look up the size of the standard Rottie. The male is between 95 to 130. I get a kick out of people when they come up to me and say they know somebody with a HUGE Rottie that weighs 170 or 180 ????? If your dog weighs that much? TAKE THE DAMN THING OUT and QUIT OVER FEEDING IT !! They aren't suppose to be that heavy. They're a medium to large breed.... Not a fat ass :)

@davidlee28540 yours probably falls into the american standard they're known to be taller and heavier. My breeder follows the German standard shorter, big head and stocky. Mine will reach in the area of 110-120 of rock muscle. He has a huge pumpkin for a head.

Anything passed 130 is fucking the breed up. Those breeders who are creating these so called monsters have ruined the breed they're taxing the body. Hey mate, I would for sure get the rottweiler as your guard dog. German Shepards overheat too much in the sun, and I am sure you don't want to worry about keeping your dog out in the sun, I have had both and both are excellent guard dogs, but hands down Rottweiler. I've been seriously bit three times by dogs - all shepherds, all dogs that were supposedly 'friendly'. I owned a big rott for 13 years and the only person he ever threatened was the neighbour - when he got mad, yelled at his kid and chased him! I may be biased, but my vote is for a rotty - just make sure you set aside plenty of time to train him properly! Any, big, fearless breed is dangerous if not trained properly. That said, I miss my Rott! RIP Caesar! :^(

american breeds of anything usual consist of smaller, more snouty dogs.. i wouldnt know for rotties tho but im guesssing its the same... european compared to north american breeds usually consist of the european ones being bigger.like my boxer is an american boxer and shes a bit more snouty rather than jowly and is gonna be 55 pounds compared to 75.

Do you know the history of rottweilers? Obviously not.The Romans docked the tail so they had an advantage over wolves when fighting. The rottweiler wa used for herding the livestock and to protect the livestock . The removal of the tail is part of this breeds history.

Love the video and you are absolutely right. They love to have the room. I think people might have the wrong idea of my video Cleo is a purebread Rotti and Hannah is a Queensland heeler and Pit mix. We have just purchased another purebred Rotti and she is from a litter that the mother I have worked with and she has shown alot of progress. I have worked with dogs for quite sometime now and have found that Rottis are very smart and I love them to death.

They truly are great dogs. I used to bring my Rottie to work with me at the mall pet store I worked at yrs ago. He would sit with my co-workers kids in the back near the fish aquariums & cat furniture displays. He would let them dress him up & they would play Dogshow with him against a bunch of stuffed animals. He was always unleashed & never once tried to leave the store even though the entrance was big enough for 2 trucks to pass through side by side. Didnt train him like that. He just knew.
