Oh, shouldn't take that long. You should cancel the download, then close the Market app (I do this with my Task Manager app) and then go back and try again. That's what I do :\

@BrendanMurphy31 i think he's probably referring more to the spam type apps u get with andriod as well as more adult themed apps,as far as apples app store is concerned they dont really have those type of apps,while android seem to be a bit more relaxed with whats available for us..

Actually its the hardware that HTC used to make the Hero. Sense UI has nothing to do with the lag.

It's not. The specs of the HTC Hero are good, but the Sense UI needs to be optimized because it uses a lot of processes than the usual Android.

Its not really laggy - there is a .5 second delay at times if you just have a few apps running.

If your running your live email, live twitter, wi-wifi, gps, facebook, weather, stocks etc then its going to start slowing down from there onwards, but thats the idea of the phone, to be a live, walking talking realtime social hub.

I love mine. If you want a media device though I think the Iphone would be more appropiate.

Economics- It's all about exclusivity and the market forces that follow from that. Iphone was a case in point with its exclusive distribution agreement it had with O2 in the UK. Don't know about the Aussie market, but mobile phone carriers in Europe face stiff competition, so whatever edge you can get on your competition, you're going to take it.
