I'm really disappointed in Geraldine Ferraro. I think her comments are hateful and divisive. I think her ego is enormous and just because not everybody loves her candidate she figures anything goes. I am a feminist and I have and will vote for Barack Obama every chance I get.
She suggested that Americans were trying to buy racial reconciliation on the cheap.
The comments were odd, and sounded incredibly stupid for a congresswoman. That the country is caught in the concept. It's even offensive.
The implication here is that majority of Obama supporters are fascinated with him cos he is black and that if he looked different, he wouldn't have achieve the heights that he has achieved. I don't think she is a racist. An idiot sounds more accurate.
The definition of racist is not any statement that disagrees with a black person. It is thinking that your race is better. Criticism exist in any race and making accusations of racism is NOT a sheild to bounce away truth and fact when it is directed at one because they happen to be black but rather what they are doing. Critisism knows no color and what is done wrong...is wrong ...no matter what the color. Playing the race card is a way of not admitting to your wrong just because you are black.

Ferraro is speaking the real truth. Read The Case for Hillary Clinton. You will read that the insiders knew that Hillary Clinton was viable for President. The Republicans began their pre-campaign attacks before 2005. Kerry knew, Kennedy knew: Obama thought it was easy to run against a Woman!
I love this and to think that Ferraro was a feminist and that didnt benifit her?!?! Such a dirty distasteful remark... pure bitterness. Like when her feminist party was pushing men around and out of there position crying wolf and playing the victims of social inequities... wow i thought people were supposed to be proud of who they are and what they represent but obviously every black mans a success and attends law schools paid for by the white ppl...
So, I'm and Obama fan. I would vote for Clinton if she ends up the nominee. I applaud both candidates for avoiding the the race/gender issue, and staying with ability to govern. That being said, comments like Ferraro's insult those of us who are not African American who still think Obama is the right CANDIDATE for the job. If only African Americans voted for Obama, he would not win. If only women voted for Clinton, she would not win. Gotta have it all.
Okay so anybody could easily just as well state that Hillary would not be in her position if she was not a woman and we have never had a woman candidate so at this period of time with feminism at it's peak is why she is popular. We all know none of these factors have anything to do with who will make a great president. These are excuses for people to make because they are foolish or jealous of a person's progress and represents their insecurities.
I think the media has not given Ferraro a fair chance to explain why she make such a conclusion. It's clear that Hillary had the black vote sowed up until Barack got in the race and began to gain support. If he were white and has all the same skills/background, do you think he could take away the black vote from Clinton? I don't think so. The Clinton's are/were loved by the black community.
I am disappointed that Hillary trashed her long time friend over this.
The first comment true (and I'm black). But Obama's race alone did not get where he is. Thats is what Obama et al rebut. Her responses thereafter hold much less weight and are racist and divisive. She is damaging the the D-party. As far as loosing black support if Clinton were nominated (not likely) but if she fucks up after that, it may shake the Dem's hold on black voters. My humble opinion
Jeremiah Wright inspired Obama to write "The Audacity of Hope". He officiated his marriage. He baptized his children. He listened to his racist sermons for 20 years. Obama let his kids listen to his racist sermons for 20 years!
I seriously cannot comprehend how you can call Obama racist - his father is black and he was raised by his white mother and white grandparents. Keanu Reeves is half Japanese and half white but people don't call him Japanese - Can somebody please explain to me why it is different in the case of somebody with sub-Saharan african ancestry?
People know that Obama is not a racist, that was a great analogy with Keanu Reeves...
This is a venomous political strategy to get anyone who's ever been accused of racism to vote for Hillary and I hope it doesn't work.
This is so divisive and disgusting.
This is why people should never vote for anyone based on gender or race... we all want a woman president but not the wrong woman, that Geraldine was the wrong woman in 84 and so is Hillary in 08.
Please talk about the issues, his children and baptisms do not affect my life.
Talk to me about the war in Iraq, healthcare, the crisis in our economy and immigration, those are issues I care about and Barack's stance on those issues make me want to vote for him.
Bush was elected twice remember? People who follow Obama want us to believe the America that voted for Bush twice will then elect Obama? Put down the New York Times, and the bong, and step away from the latte .. get in your little electric car and drive to Nebraska where there are white people who hate black people. And you can find them in your own town too. The Dems for Obama are a bunch of dreamy idealists and they are pushing McCain into office.
I totally disagree... I think the country as a whole is ready to move on from this race non-issue that has plagued us.
The fact is McCain will beat Hillary but he won't be able to beat Barack.
Americans don't care about race so much as who's going to end the war in Iraq, (not Maccain), who's going to deal with immigration, our educational crisis, health-care in a sensible manner.
see how tim changed her words. she didnt say he wasnt qualified because he was black..she said he was there because he was black..she was saying he wasnt qualified wether he was black white yellow or orange..the media has a strangle hold on the small minded and nbc is on of the worse..fox is right there with them...obama would be a great presidant in a few terms..give him time to grow and experience national and world settings..damn people we are killing this nation over this stupid race issue
holy shit can we please stop the "african american" crap..you are an american..dont tag yourself then want to throw the racial issue out...damn the dems are really screwed up
everyone know hilary isn't a racist but she is using race as a distraction from the real issues..the color of ones skin isn't realy the issue that cause people trouble
I find her comments...i don't know if it's offensive but certainly not true. She said Obama is where he is today because he's black. Okay let's analyze:
1.White people like him because he's black? NOT! They like him because they compare him to Kennedy (IMO)
2.Black likes him because he's black? True. But voting for your color is a pride thing...and i would do that same for my race. Nothing wrong with that.
If anything Obama wins because he has overcome racial barrier from skin color to his name
2 b honest, I never heard of Geraldine Feraro until this fiasco. Yes her comment was unfotunetly racist in saying he wouldn't b in this position if he weren't black even if put in context she did complement him as well. Her latter statement in saying racism works both ways in syaing that other races r being accussed of being racist unfairly just because they don't support him is true, but don't defend her because her statement was racist. I'm not whit or black, I'm brown so am being objective.
so she's saying what she feels is the trueth. it just so happens that what see sees the trueth to be is racist. probably was a spoiled brat brainwashed by racist parents so she can't see racist when it comes out of her fuckin mouth
you can say alot about obama. but just not about him being black. whats that have to do with anything policy wise? talk about the issues, not this crap.
if you think obama is where he is because he is black you are a total bafoon and racist. if obama was white you think he would have faded away like dodd and those other fools that dropped out early
focus is on the issues....do you want kids running our country or adults? Obama haven't even disrespected Hillary, and he fired his advisor when she called hillary a monster....yet hillary silently cosigns with the race card pull...
What Geraldine Ferraro said about Obama's position is obviously true. She is courageous to say these things - and admit them even in front of herself because it could have been "nicer" for her to think that there was no reverse sexism behind her own 1984 nomination. As a mature woman and politician, she can face the truth.
The reaction of some people to her true remarks is hysterical and outrageous and it shows that the P.C. people are pretty much as dangerous as the Nazis were in the 1930s.
Geraldine Ferraro; Is this lady a racist idiot or what? I thought she had more class than that! Fact, Obama won Main, Kansas, Maryland, Iowa, Connect, and Delaware, all of which have overwhelming Caucasian demographics. In fact, Main is 85% His campaign is about bringing people together not tearing them apart. Hillary is so caught up in winning that she can't understand that if you divide the races you divide the party. That's why the democrats will loose the general election. KKK Lady!
This just goes to prove how hypocritical Hillary really is. When Obama's people 'cross the line,' she goes crazy... but it is ok for her campaign to do so, and she glosses over it
