The problem with the majority of American peoples thinking is the unconditional faith and unquestioning, uncritical loyalty that they offer to their government. Americans should remember that governments are a human construct not a divine post. Questioning and criticizing your leaders is not being unAmerican or unpatriotic. Country and government are not the same thing. I am Irish and I love my country but I hold no allegiance to my government.

Very nice report, but I'm afraid the time is over that USA can serve as an example to the rest of the world. The large amount of religious extremism is already associated with backwardness compared to other developed countries. Furthermore its democracy is endangered appeal due to political extremism and political ignorance among citizens, a poorly performing press, an overly influential corporate lobby, recent questionable elections in 2000 and 2004.
