for those of you who liked Twilight i'll type slowly . . . .
I saw this when it was released in 1990 since then i've bought the video, then dvd and finally on blu ray during the last 20 years... in my humble opinion its the most perfectly created piece of film i've ever seen haunting, visceral, entire cast superb and actually makes you think... reckon i could count on one hand the number of movies that are anywhere near as good as this (few notable exceptions Leon, The last Supper etc)
Pont-Saint-Esprit poisoning: Did the CIA spread LSD?
Nearly 60 years ago, a French town was hit by a sudden outbreak of hallucinations, which left five people dead and many seriously ill. For years it was blamed on bread contaminated with a psychedelic fungus - but that theory is now being challenged.
@alfie9876 LSD is actually non toxic and is almost impossible to overdose on. From what you are describing it sounds like it could have been BZ, a highly toxic very long lasting hallucinogenic dissociative which the US army has been known to experiment with. This would explain the deaths, illness, and the hallucinations.
@gregallman420 i would tend to dissagree on not being able to overdose on lsd.i know a casualty from my 20's who dropped 24 quads one night at a party, was a bright guy,but now,hes 40,and still lives with his mother and never comes out of his room because he thinks hes an orange and if he comes out, someone might peel him.he spent 4 years in a mental institution before he was stable enought to return home.his life was over that night, true story.
Such an underrated movie. I remember working in a video store in high school and this just had come out on video. It absolutely blew my mind. I haven't seen it in years and watching these clips on youtube once again confirms that this is one of the greatest (I can't say horror) psychological thrillers you'll find. Strongly recommend checking this movie out.
I don't think this film gets enough praise. Rarely does a movie blow my mind. I think this movie is far superior to most award winning films I've seen. My favorite all time.
The transmission from 3:13 to 3:14 resembles the whole plot of this brilliant movie.

Avatar - pretty, eye candy but ultimately a plot written by retarded tv movie writing chimps makes $billions...
Jacobs ladder - complex, dark, frightening (even now) underrated, thought provoking and made almost bugger all.....
all hollywood executives should be locked in a room and FORCED to watch this until they stop pumping out turd after turd (Indiana Jones 5 anyone???)

the realisation from all the soldiers one after another that something is going on with them is what is most terrifying in this scene.
