Hello, i thought you may be interested to know the Dakota C-47 is coming back this coming weekend Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd of August to Smeatharpe airfield for The South West Airfields Heritage Trust VE/VJ day weekend. She is being escorted by a Mk1 Spitfire.

You can find more details on the youtube page i created for S.W.A.H.T.

i couldn't believe it such a sad sight!

they should be kept flying a beautiful sight and sound!!

  • Nope my firend, the C47's maked their way to the Coast of France safe and well, but when they reached the drop zones and and came under the clouds, they got under fire by AA-Guns fron the ground, and the full 101st and 82nd plus many other Divisions got spread out over Normandy.

Where did you hear it was German Airplanes in the air that night, impossible... The germans didnt know anything about the Allied "D-Day (Operation Overlord).

  • great!!
