iik im gunna sound like a nerd lol but star wars isnt in space in the begining it says a galicsy far away im not a nerd i've just read the begining thing
Wow! I never thought of that until now and it makes sense. There is no air for the sound to vibrate so, even if an explosion happened behind you, you would not hear it.
The Big Bang theory was not so much as an explosion but rather an expansion. Like if you expanded a balloon to the size of our current universe. Some believe that space did not exist prior to the Big Bang and there for if you want to think of it as an explosion then that would be fine.
I dunno- you could detonate something with an oxidiser and have one -a violent, hot,, rapid, powered expansion. You would only hear it as the outflung particles interacted with a pressurised hull or suit though. This could make for a tense movie scene - gaping horrified crew watching an expanding detonation in complete silence, then the pattering growing to a roar on the hull as it washes over, with alarms sounding due to damage.
Strar Wars and Star Trek are verging on BS with the sound in space, but Firefly had silent space scenes throughout and was all the better for it.
The dialogue was better too.

An explosion would be impossible in space.

So what about the big BANG theory? Maybe it was the silent big BANG theory?
