@nmycon Actually, this was originally shot in 2008. So....I'm not even sure which DVDs you're referring to... The Star Trek ones, maybe? I haven't seen those old 2-disc editions anywhere for a couple of years, other than some of the local pawn shops.
You mention in this video that the "Limited Editions" of Episodes IV-VI can be found in bargain bins. I realize that this video was posted over a year ago, but I cannot find Star Wars DVDs anywhere! I know the blu-rays are coming soon, but I just wanted to pick them up for the bonus discs. I figured when the blus were announced, the prices would drop, I didn't think the DVDs would disappear...
I've checked Best Buy, Future Shop, HMV & Toys R Us
@nmycon Oh! Duh, silly me for not seeing both comments. Yeah, the last time I saw those Star Wars editions was about a year or so ago at Wal-Mart, about 10 bucks each. I sometimes see them on sale at HMV. They're definitely getting harder to find, though. That usually happens with the Star Wars movies - as soon as the new re-release is imminent, the previous editions disappear. 20 bucks each isn't bad, considering they'll likely start fetching collector's prices shortly after the Blus come out!
Join the club about being a perfectionist when it comes to Star Wars, I try to put my Star Wars collection in Timeline Order (the order they occur in the Star Wars Timeline)
The only Star Trek movies i've seen are the new one, which was GREAT, and First Contact, which was really good. I was surprised, beacause i'm not a Star Trek fan
@Videogamestwin Because if they did that, it would have been the end of the series in 1965. Doctor Who is unique in that it is actually explained IN THE STORY why he changes every few years. The Doctor is a Time Lord. When a Time Lord is about to die, his body can regenerate, taking on a new form. Aspects of his previous personality (and all of his memories) remain, but he looks and often acts differently. By doing this, the series has been able to continue for nearly 50 years.
At 5:29, whjen you say that Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan is your all time favorite, do you mean it's your all time favorite Star Trek movie, or your all time favourite movie ?
Sean, Ok i wanted to get your opinion on Krull, ok Kegan(Liam Neeson) alot of fans wish they wouldn't of killed him off, now i will have to admit to that in a way. He was great! Love that ax he had! I heard somewhere there were some deleted scenes of his death. Now that i would love to see. Just wanted to know what your thoughts were on Kegan
Back to the future editions on dvd!! What is the best versions to get for back to the future! To get everything on dvd what editions should you get!!!
@Bisbeatle Nope, still on my wish list... Though I DID get the Ultimate Edition of T2 with the metal slipcover, to get all the extras not included in the Extreme Edition and my Laserdisc set.
@Zaranyzerak Yeah, unfortunately I waited too long for T2. I got the same embossed cover, except mine is cardboard... very high-class cardboard though. =)
@Ggould1975 Love it. I actually have the Special Edition DVD of it, will likely do a vid about it at some point and give some of my thoughts on the movie then.
@Zaranyzerak Are you hoping just like me for George Lucas to re-release the original unaltered versions of Star Wars properly? Note: I love and appreciate all six Star Wars Films and anything Star Wars related, even the special editions.
Your collections are great. Out of curiosity, where did you get your shelving? I'm currently searching for something large that looks nice to display my stuff. Sadly, all my movies are packed away in cardboard boxes at the moment because of this. :-(
I honestly kinda hate how the North American versions of the star wars movies don't have a see through case with artwork on the inside. The European version of Episode 2 that I have has it and it looks so much better than a plain black case.
You probably already know but earlier today the Star Wars movies were confirmed for a Blu-Ray release.
The Original Versions of the trilogy will not be restored in HD, they are not going to be on the Blu-Ray set, it is going to be just the special edition version.
@Riddler95 I'm disappointed, but can't say I'm surprised. It will likely be the same as when it came out on DVD. EVENTUALLY they'll re-release the old versions to appease the fans, but not until well after the special Edition versions sell a bazillion copies. Unfortunate it sounds like they're pulling this stunt again, I was really hoping this set would be properly definitive...
I might just hold off buying the Blu-Ray set until there is a confirmed re-release with the original versions restored in HD.
Even though I prefer the original version, it would be nice if George Lucas included the 1997 Special Edition version, I hate the changes they did for the 2004 DVD release, like adding Ian McDiarmid into The Empire Strikes Back, and adding Naboo and Hayden Christensen at the end of Return Of The Jedi.
By having those three versions, the set would be properly definitive.
Ok so I had to start taking notes to keep track of all the stuff I need to get. I know what you mean about getting everything. I'm in the process of getting the special editiong star trek movies. I already have all of the original releases. We get some of those DVDs here with the French titles on them. I have two or three in my collection. They really bug me. I didn't notice until I got them home.
@ShoutoutSophie Oh yes indeed! Both of those are on my must-get lists. But obviously with Stargate I want to start with SG-1, though who knows maybe I'll just get all things Stargate in one fell swoop someday (I originally did that with the Planet of the Apes stuff, bought EVERYTHING in one go). :)
Me?? Ye gods, no! First Contact was awesome. I just prefer the original crew overall. You know, for the character dynamics and such, just feel that cast of characters worked better than any of the other incarnations of ST.
the "Trial Of A Time Lord" collection is LOADED with extras, and it's a great 6th Doctor collection if you haven't gotten any 6th Doctor DVDs since this was made
I'm actually hoping to start getting caught up with the classic Doctor Who DVDs, they're really great sets. They're actually releasing The Twin Dilemma a little later this year in Region 1, so Colin Baker's run will be the first complete run of one of the classic Doctors to be fully available on DVD. So I might just grab his whole run in one fell swoop. :) Shame he had such a short run, he was an excellent (and imo very underrated) Doctor.
Outland, oldie but goodie. Thought I was the only one who liked that!

Hey Zaranyzerak. I was looking at this vid which i hadn't watched in quite a while and you mention that Clash Of The Titans is in need of a special edition.
Did you see that they just announced about a month ago that there is gonna be a "digibook" BluRay version coming out in early March? FINALLY!! I'm a big digibook fan. I have the ones for Keaton's Batman, and Snyder's 300. The Titans one looks really nice!!
It's on a DVD-R tucked in with the Limited Edition version of Episode IV. I have one of the best quality versions of the Holiday Special that's out there (I dug around a LOT before finding a decent copy of it)
@Zaranyzerak woah i cant beleve you have that star wars tv ceinematic abortion it never got a re run ever gorege think that this is the worst thing ever acociated with star wars
the lexx series is great although way too expensive for reigon 1, some other nice ones u may already have are farscape and brisco county jr, jack of all trades which were pretty cheap
If you have an HD TV and Bluray player you should get the original Star Trek box sets on Bluray. They give you the remastered version or the original tv brodcast version in it's original sound and everything! You can even watch both versions seamlessly. It's quite cool, only if you got Bluray though. If not, then no point lol.
I did an in-depth 3-part review of the Star Trek TOS Season 1 Blu-ray. Awesome sets, I still need to pick up Season 2. By far the most definitive versions of the classic show EVER.
Avoid the Blu-ray movie sets like the plague, though. They used so much DNR on those transfers that everyone looks like wax figures. Wait for a proper version with new transfers. I'll be sticking with my 2-disc Collector's Edition DVDs until they do a proper job of those in HD.
Maybe you can do a Terminator Trilogy Review, which includes Terminator, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, and maybe you can add the Star Wars DVDs you have and the Star Trek DVDs you have into the mix. Please? Maybe you can add that to the Planet of the Apes/Alien/Predator DVD review, and just name it: "The Epic Sci-Fi DVD Review". It will include Planet of the Apes, Alien, Predator, Terminator, Star Wars, and Star Trek.
Yeah. Series 1 was re-released in October, 2008. This video was originally shot in April, 2008, at which time that season was still out of print and fetching collector's prices.
I love you're collection! I wish I had as much as you! (But i'm a 14 year old girl and I have more star trek than you.. lol i suck) But you're still awesome :)
Hehehe...hey, ya gotta start somewhere! I think I was about 14 when I started collecting too, though that was Transformers VHS releases at the time. :) I did pick up the new Blu-ray release of the Original Series of Star Trek, though! So the Trek collection is growing, slowly but surely...
If you really want your star wars spines to match, then just flip the other 5 to the french/english sides. Yeah you'll have some half french dvds, but at least they will line up which apparently is so important to you. DER! lol just kidding but king of a no-brainer. :)
I agree. Though the Extreme Edition has a better transfer of the movie itself. The main reason I passed on the Ultimate Edition originally was because the majority of extras in that edition were ones I already have in my Laserdisc boxed set (which even includes the Guns n' Roses music video, which none of the DVD editions have...) But being a T2 freak, I want 'em all! So I will be grabbing the Ultimate Edition some time in the near future...
I'm focussing on the classic series for the DVDs at the moment. I've been watching the new series since it began, love it, but the season sets are waaayy too pricey for only 13-14 episodes...
Those two films you got in the first shelf are really sci-fi underrated jewels: Outland and 2010. I remember i found outland for 30 pesos, that's less than 3 dlls!!!!
I see that some of your dvds have the french name of the movie on it. I thought that it was only in Québec that you could have a dvd with the french track on it !
Umm..what do you mean? I've got 4 of the 6 Legacy Collections of the classic Universal Monster movies. Or do you mean stuff like Godzilla? I've only got a couple of Godzilla movies at the moment, I think at the time of this video they were on the Comic Book Adaptations shelf (for no apparent reason).
Stuff like Godzilla. King Kong. I saw you had Clash of the Titans, that's cool, but that's only one Giant Monster Movie (should have said Giant in the begging)
On a side note, those Legacy Collections are awesome, you've got two more.
My brother owns T2 The Ultimate Edition DVD, and it's the original release that has the out of print metal slipcase. He says that it's one of the greatest DVDs he ever own.
I'm actually holding off on those for a couple of reasons. First, they only include the theatrical versions. So the alternate versions of 1, 2 and 6 that we got on DVD aren't there. Second, some of the movies (IV especially) have had EXCESSIVE DNR applied to them, scrubbing out the film grain and consequently a lot of the detail. Wrath of Khan was an all new transfer, and apparently looks great though. I'm just going to wait for now, I'm happy with my DVD editions for the time being.
Have you got season 2 of war of the worlds on dvd ?

I've been meaning to try Wal-Mart. I haven't really "looked" for them at WM, but I always keep an eye out and I haven't noticed them lately.
Thanks for any info :D

the ultimate edition is better
mooseboy101 2 years ago

I love the sigh when you pull out the Aeon Flux movie. Amazing series, but you're right, they really fucked that one up.

I'm focussing on the classic series for the DVDs at the moment. I've been watching the new series since it began, love it, but the season sets are waaayy too pricey for only 13-14 episodes...

Those two films you got in the first shelf are really sci-fi underrated jewels: Outland and 2010. I remember i found outland for 30 pesos, that's less than 3 dlls!!!!
csnc82 2 years ago
Completely agreed! I just wish Outland would get a better transfer. The DVD release we got is horrible quality... :(

I see that some of your dvds have the french name of the movie on it. I thought that it was only in Québec that you could have a dvd with the french track on it !

I've seen Sci-Fi, Horror and Uber Boxed Sets videos, where are the Monster Movies???
bheemabachus 2 years ago
Umm..what do you mean? I've got 4 of the 6 Legacy Collections of the classic Universal Monster movies. Or do you mean stuff like Godzilla? I've only got a couple of Godzilla movies at the moment, I think at the time of this video they were on the Comic Book Adaptations shelf (for no apparent reason).
Zaranyzerak 2 years ago
Stuff like Godzilla. King Kong. I saw you had Clash of the Titans, that's cool, but that's only one Giant Monster Movie (should have said Giant in the begging)
On a side note, those Legacy Collections are awesome, you've got two more.

The last thing you said to us on this video was "ow" that was awesome!

Which version of the Star Wars Trilogy do you prefer? I prefer the original unaltered trilogy by far, but the new versions are not that bad
creatingausernamesux 2 years ago
I heard that Star Trek V wasn't very good.
I certainly hope we see Anamorphic Widescreen Versions of The Original Versions of The Star Wars Trilogy with 5.1 sound.

Did you ever own Terminator 2 The Ultimate Edition DVD ?
Riddler95 2 years ago
My brother owns T2 The Ultimate Edition DVD, and it's the original release that has the out of print metal slipcase. He says that it's one of the greatest DVDs he ever own.

I've got the Extreme Edition.
My dad had the Ultimate Edition but he sold it.

HEY ZARANYZERAK, I dont have any of the Star Trek films, should I get the Star Trek: Original Motion Picture Blu-Ray Collection?
dvd6441 2 years ago
Yeah should I too? I do have Final Frontier, Generations and Insurrection but they're on good ol' VHS.
bluto1992 2 years ago
I'm actually holding off on those for a couple of reasons. First, they only include the theatrical versions. So the alternate versions of 1, 2 and 6 that we got on DVD aren't there. Second, some of the movies (IV especially) have had EXCESSIVE DNR applied to them, scrubbing out the film grain and consequently a lot of the detail. Wrath of Khan was an all new transfer, and apparently looks great though. I'm just going to wait for now, I'm happy with my DVD editions for the time being.
