Its true!! they never touch the topic about THEIR sin, they only speak about how much they DO! They must understand that their works are AS Filthy AS RAGS UNTO GOD!
Isa 64:6 But we are all as an unclean [thing], and all our righteousnesses [are] as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
There's a lot to say about this video but the most important is that its a demonstration of Gods love for us and grace. I appreciate Shawns honesty and I feel the same way about myself. I fail enough in my walk with the Lord and there is no good thing in me except Christ in me. I think sometimes as Christians we get an improper view of ourselves and we tend to forget that those that teach us are fallible human beings just like we are. God bless Shawn.
I am different from Shawn in that I believe God when we are told he will not allow us to be tempted by more then what we can bear.
I am nothing like the man I was prior to my rebirth. According to him there is no real change of heart and no circumcision of the old nature.
This does not, however, mean that I won't sin. John explains there are allowances for people "IF" they should sin after their rebirth. But people like shawn preach that we "MUST" sin.
Shawn describes himself as being no different from the person he was before coming to Christ. According to him, and others who adhere to radical grace there will be no difference to an observer of either pre new birth and post new birth.
But this is not what scripture teaches.
Scripture teaches us that there will be a huge and noticable difference.
Your righteous worthy lives are an illusion. Do you really think you are any less of a sinner than Shawn, or me? You delude yourselves. It would do a Mormon good to say "I am a wretched Sinner" in need of the Grace and Forgiveness of God EVERY DAY! It's humbling, truthful, and will set you free and actually bring you closer to Jesus. Time for some truth and humility LDS people. You are no better than Shawn or me when it comes to sinning. Cmon, fess up or youre lying to God and lying to yourself.
TrustinJC, true, however if you say you are saved and no longer sin, you are a liar. I sincerely try not to sin. Im not saying Im a drunkard and live my life any way I want because Im forgiven, Im just a sinner by nature as you are. Tell me you didnt sin yesterday, and the day before, even if it was a "small one" such as getting mad at someone, or lusting...just a little, or coveting. Again, we are New Creatures when Born Again, and I now sin way less than I used to, but still sin, as you do.
If we recieve a new regenerated heart and a new nature when we come to Christ, and if Christ is living in us and if we have the counsel of the holy spirit, how then can people say we remain a sinner by nature?
We remain a sinner by nature only when we no longer have Christ living in us or when we sear the holy spirit because of continued sin.
Shawn says that under the right circumstances he will return to his old ways.
but the only way such a circumstance is possible is if Christ no longer lives in him or if he has seared the Holy Spirit. For as long as Christ is in him, he could not do those things.
I think the problem many people have is with their definition of sin. They confuse the temptation of sin with the actual act of sin. And they confuse admiring beauty with lusting.
Admiring a beautiful woman is not the same thing as lusting.
Lust or murder within the mind is when we allow our mind to be taken over by a particular thought. So if I run with a thought and let it control my thoughts desires and emotions, then I have commited that sin. It's all dependent on how we react to a thought that enters our mind. The initial thought is the temptation. How we respond to the initial thought is what determines if we sin or not.
I agree with what you say, however are you telling me that since you got saved you havent sinned...at all? Even a small one? If the sinful "thought" enters your mind, you have sinned. You dont necessarily have to act on it, the mere thought is a sin. Thats all I am saying. I was short tempered the other day with my kids and got mad at something they did. I didnt scream and yell, the Spirit convicted me of that, and I said a prayer for forgiveness of that thought. Anyway thanks for your input.
No. I can not say that I have stopped sinning since being reborn. This does not mean, however, that it's impossible to do. Scripture makes it very clear that it is possible as long as Christ abides in us and we are guided by the holy spirit. Part of the reason that Christians remain so far removed from Christ and the church so corrupt is due to the false teaching that we can't stop sinning.
As I explained, the initial thought is not a sin. It is only a sin if our mind runs with it.
I believe the thought is the sin. If I look at a woman and have even a split second of lust for her, I have sinned in my heart according to Jesus. I dont have to act on it and go have an affair with her. If I curse at my brother, I am a murderer. I dont have to "act on it" and actually kill him.
A full thought considers reflection on the initial impulse.
I think that girl is super hot and would love to fondle her...thats wrong because I have a loving girl and i should not objectify woman. God has made all things equal as well as thinking that way is sinful because it is lustful. I denounce that thought in the name of jesus christ.
thats an example of one of my thoughts (2seconds for that one)
That's not true. Paul tells us that we must renew our minds. In Rom 12:2 he tells us how to do this. Paul tells us "WE" are to "LET" God transform us by changing the way we think.
So with Gods help we can change the way we think, but it requires a concious effort on our part.
It's a matter of living a prayerful life and having a pssion to serve the Lord. Our mind does not have to run amok.

THAT my friend, is beautiful.
RIght there we see a great example of what Jesus did and continues to do for ALL who will
Understand just how wicked and sinful we all are as sinners and how much we NEED a Saviour
Repent from their wicked ways
Realize and Confess with their tongue that Jesus Christ is Lord and God, Died on the cross, was buried, and Rose from the dead
And Believe that the Word is God's Holy Word and to live by it
Amen Brother! Keep up the ministry!

If you are no better then people of the world after being reborn then you are no better then the dog returning to it's vomit.
Gods children will be recognized by the way they live their lives and Satans children will be recognized by the way they live their lives.
Did Jesus say that all things are possible except to stop sinning?
No. He said all things are possible... period!
Was Jesus lying when he said we would do greater things then he?

You might be different, but all men under 50 years old don't admire women.
They lust...

Why then did Paul instruct a man to be expelled from the church due to the way he was sinning?
The NT also tells us elders and church leaders must be beyond reproach.
Jesus gives us the grace to overcome all temptation. His yoke is light and we are never given more temptation then we can bear.
We show that we are children of God by the way we live. To live contrary to the commands of Christ/God shows that we belong to the devil.
