i have always wondered why toyota won't give the option for better seats in this thing, lilke leather, heated, and powered seats. if they would give that, i would buy this truck
@Intechdude300 i like the tundra, but the interior is cheap and the fuel economy is terrible, i like this truck but those few options bring me away from it, you can't even get a moon roof or body colored door handles without a 4000 dollar package
i didnt forget, i just cant do it sometimes. Truck had an early run number & there were other cars nearby of high interest for dealers so there was too much foot traffic
@Intechdude300 Although it isn't fair to compare the Tacoma to an F-150. Small pickup vs. Full size pickup. Comparing Tacoma to Ranger is more ideal, I would take a Ranger over the Tacoma though, despite being gas pigs I think the Ranger's are pretty decent
Rangers are solid trucks but the ride just never gets to me & they are so cramped inside. And the rear of the Ranger is feather light. I know all trucks have that disadvantage but the Ranger is worse & I've experienced issues with that on many rangers thru snow & rain......
We'll just have to wait 2-3 yrs to see what Ford has in store for us as it's been recently rumored that Ford will comeback with a Ranger for the U.S. & not that big one the rest of the world just got
@Intechdude300 Thing that confuses me is that in the UK the Ranger looks alot better, they offer diesel engines, crew cabs...why not in the US/Canada?
@talldude123 But if you look at the cost a 3.7 F-150 and a 4.0 taco they are preety close in price. I also like the Ranger but i could not own a car where olny 2 people can fit comfortably.
@yellowcow13 The only thing that is worse than the Tacoma is a Colorado or Canyon. I would say Ranger/B series but they at least have 5-speed auto and side airbags. The Corolado and Canyon are 90's trucks just carried over to today, with their 4-speed auto and dual front airbags only.
@wokeupthismorning100 Problem with the Taco's is the price. They cost the same as full-size pickup trucks, probably because of Toyota's awful mark-up.
I think the trim around the shifter comes right off, my ex roommate's 08 taco did that. I've driven so many toyota trucks and I must admit I love the old ones SOOOOOO much better, best ones were from 1984 to 1995, and the first gen taco from 1996 to 2004 was just ok, and this generation 05 up it's so boring I could not stop yawning when I was driving
@Lexuslover123 I drove three different tacos of this gen and two had 4 cylinders and one had a v6, the 4 cylinder was quite slow (slower than the frontier), the v6 was pretty quick but all of them had so much frame flex, steering felt disconnected and the ride felt like mush whereas the old toyota pickups were quite responsive and fun to drive but it could be something to do with them being so much heavier than the old small pickups
@2004NissanSentra Probably the weight, and the 4 banger is slow with the 4 speed auto, but quiet good with the manual. As for frame flex, I have never noticed that, but I was behind a ranger the other day and it looked just as bad as the current tundra, LMAO
@wokeupthismorning100 I don't think any new toyotas are good, if you want a tacoma you might as well buy full size and avalons are way past their glory days. The only one from lexus I like is the is250 and that's not even saying much.
Unfortunately I think it's supposed to be redesigned next year and chances are it will probably get Toyota's new interior quality, and overall quality too... :/
@Lexuslover123 Rangers are a 30 year old design not to mention a perfect throw-away truck, Colorado is a piece of Korean-built shit, Dakota is a typical lousy Chrysler product, and the Frontier is based on the full-size Titan which is also piece of garbage. Tacoma is still a class leader but this new generation is also junk compared to the rock solid Toyotas of the 80s/90s, just look at how many of those are still on the road compared to ones of 10 years newer
@Lexuslover123 I'd honestly still rather buy a 1989-1995 with the 4 cylinder and 5 speed cause they are built to last and that's my favorite body style as far as looks, might be slower but you can't beat the good ole 22-RE. If I had a lot of money I'd probably just put a pretty sick lift on it and throw a bunch of extras on it
114.000 miles????? Wow... mine are the same and I have only 34.000 miles... the previous owner was an interstate salesman....lol

@taac3 I'm 5'7", I don't see 3-4 inches affecting the view. I sat a little low when I was in there but I'm sure there is seat height adjustment

Compare this Toyota 4.0 V6 to Nissan's 4.0 V6. Which one is more refined?
zarniax5x5 2 months ago
im a short person.. only about 5'3 or 5'4... do you think i would be able to see out good in this ?
taac3 6 months ago
@taac3 I dont see why a person your height would have trouble driving a Tacoma. They're not huge

@Intechdude300 I'm 6+ I need to pull the seat back a bit to see the very top

Ill take a more basic F-150 over this thing with the 3.7.
When the Sport Trac was out Id take that over the Taco too.
yellowcow13 9 months ago
@yellowcow13
Yeah I would take the current 3.7L F-150 too. More so an Ecoboost F-150 which should put out the same MPG or better than the Tacoma

@2004NissanSentra The Avalon was pretty good when I sat inside one the other day and I'm happy with my Taco since I don't need a full size truck.

You need hard plastic in a work truck or it will rip/damage the soft plastic more than the hard plastic :/
