I recall Numan was blackballed simply because of his detached & clinical lyrics, technology fetish and gun collection. I also recall an interview with some members of BLOTTO who stated that Numan beat them down HARD in seconds offstage at the 1980 Grammy Awards.

Numan probably did not finance this video, and for a quickie vid shot in LA at his rental house in Beverly Hills its not that horrendous. You have to remember that this vid was made in the early 1980's days when it was cool to be portrayed as camp, like Boy George, Marilyn and Wham. I doubt Gary would bother with this image today. Its just a sign of those old gender bender times.
