Bob ross was a horrible average painter, you should really try learning or taking after someone who has a little more actual knowledge to share.. Try doing reproductions of great landscape painters like monsted or cole or church. It's pointless to model your art after an artist who is a little bit above average.
@rdevin31 you're welcome to your opinion but I think it's a little overboard based on one painting. my videos are just resources on how to paint the wet on wet method, not meant to show what I can do artistically. i have appreciated other artists, studied their works, learned from them to develop my own style and I continue to do that. anyway, I made the video out of boredom, and after recieving lots of positive response, I made a few more painting videos.
Hey thanks for getting back to me, I got the begining colors it was the foreground that I could not hear nor see on your pallet. I know it was a year ago but ipathskter is an ass. Unless you can copy a painting exactly as done by someone else [which is rare] anything you paint is an original, using a style to work in is a choice not a crime. Get a life dude. Oh and lets see some of your master pieces slick.
Most folks who disparage another person's work are jealous or lack the skills.
Great painting Bob would be pleased. I too Would like to know what colors you used, you mention on the first clip but as you progressed your voice got lower and you never showed your pallet again, I want to do one similar but need the values for clips 2-4. thanks
The mountain is a dark mixture probably just black, van dyke brown, alizarin crimson for this one sometimes use a blue or whatever for what colors u want in your shadows (should be based on lighting, sky color, etc.) ever greens probably sap green and cad yellow or just cad yellow and midnight black for the highlights, the bubbling brook is titanium white (maybe some liquid white added to that as well) with a touch of phtalo blue. Hope that helps!
If were Bob were alive he would be happy that you were painting. All he wanted to do is have ordinary people like me and you use their minds and paint whatever comes to their mind.
I think you've done a great job. I tried one of his paintings years ago and it looked like crap. I have a lot of respect for anyone that can do paintings using this technique. It looks easy, but it takes a lot of practice to get right.
Excellent work! You should paint often because you're very good at it and not very many people could even imitate Bob if they tried. He made it look so easy. You should be producing as many paintings as you can (I guess you have to love it). You're great! Keep up the good work.
I grew up watching Bob Ross and I was devastated when he died in 1995 I was 3 days shy of being 12 years old and he inspired me to start painting. I even tried his method of painting but I didnt do it very well because I was only 11 or 12 at the time I tried it now I want to try it again since Im alot older and I know how to clean up better. Great painting by the way keep up the good work and its good to see the greatest televised artist live in other people's talents.
thanks for the comment! i know what you mean i wanted to paint this method at that age but couldn't afford the paints, and my parents wouldn't buy them for me becuase i'd probably make a big mess too. I think Bob lives on in a lot of people out there I would love to see others work painting in his method.
-hits bong- there is so much good energy going around this place I don't know what to do with it :) The reason why people loved Bob so much was the fact that he was a good soul, capable of relaxing anyone's heavy minds, or just allowing you to finally get to sleep at the wee hours of the morning. It always makes my day to come across old shows of his on public access
You did a really good job with this painting. To me, this honors Bob Ross and all those who came before him with the wet-on-wet technique. I'm really glad I found this video. Keep painting! You're good.
In addition, everyone's style is adapted from what art they were exposed to. Even Bob Ross was influenced by other painters, I'm sure. That is how art works, it is a timeless evolution of different expressions and styles. I don't paint, but I'm not gonna bash this video because his talent is obviously not one bit maladroit.
To everyone saying that he is unoriginal needs to look at the video again. Obviously there are many significant differences between his and Bob Ross's styles. He uses the similar techniques, yes. But what is wrong with that? He would have just labeled this video "My painting pt. 3", no one would say he is copying Bob Ross.
any time u said..happy tree..U.U.. so nasty.. the art is to enjoy ..u didnt ..u are reprovated..but anyway... ilike u paint but whitout color is nothing..
I feel like an ass saying all of that. But I would really enjoy watching you paint things as if you never knew who Bob was. I don't know I just think there would be a certain interest among people if they saw you do something original. Okay I'll leave it alone now.
that's alright, it's just a hobby of mine i'm not even sure why i videotaped it, i just thought it'd be neat to experience what bob did in a half hour, it just gives me that much more respect for the man.
That's fair. I just figured you were trying to claim his style as your own. But for real, I would really like to see you tape another painting in your own style. Even if its not in 30 minutes.....just take a picture of your work every 10 minutes and synchronize the pictures in order.
I don't copy Bob or attempt to claim his style as my own, I have my own style of landscape painting that yes, does follow Bob's method of wet on wet technique, a technique which has been around for ages. Check out my Landscapes by Twinket video or my deviant art gallery (link in profile)
I have no idea why you bothered commenting. You came to a video with the name BOB ROSS in the title and the description says using the Bob Ross style and... you expected his painting style to be what!?
(extended from below)I give you credit for taking on a great painter. But leave him his style, and find your own or you won't be going anywhere fast. Which is a shame. cause your a good painter.
Try a series of your own things. THAT would be cool to watch....everyone knows Bob Ross. Do something new.
Although the painting turned out well done. I Have a problem with the mimicking of Bob Ross. I understand that his television shows were in fact a guided learning program. But I can not stand when people have no originality. You have absolutely NO variations from Bob. You used all the same color combinations and all the same techniques. What's going on with people these days...where's they're originality. Fresh thoughts?

Really good. But you lack the style of Bob's awesome hairpiece. Bob Ross was the best.
