in 8th grade i played the genie in aladin jr. BEST PART EVER!!! you get so much freedom with the singing and the acting! the only thing that sucked about it... was that my teacher made me paint my body and not wear a tight shirt..... i always caught a chill lol.

@nighthorse17 its theater, and the genie parts have some general lines he has to say, but he ad libs alot. i went to watch 2 shows on the same day, and the jokes were different-actually the genie was an entirely different person. the genie also keeps the jokes up to date with modern society, and its one part that makes the show really good

I'm from Mexico and we've just made this musical in my high school, yesterday it were the last plays and it was really cool, all the actors were from my school and they're great! I was behind everything, I'm part of staff, my legs are still killing me but I think it was worth it! I totally loved it and now I can't stop seeing this and listening to the songs from this musical! :D

I'm still on the fence about this. Maybe the incredible performances in the movie set my standards too high, maybe I'm upset because it's not exactly what I remember, but I can't say whether or not I like this. I do think that the anachronistic jokes are a bit too much, though. That's Hercules' bit. I liked TLM on broadway, because they used more general jokes (lawyers, don't you just love em?) and seemed like they were honoring the film more.

Actually, the characters in Aladdin the movie break the 1st wall too. The merchant at the beginning tries to sell us stuff, and Genie does it a few times as well. ...lol,

@filmfreak11 actually it can still be a different experience without asking the audience for a favor or whatever. like when i saw a funny thing happened on the way to the forum, one guy got up to go to the bathroom, and nathan lane stopped everything and said to him "Excuse me, I'm trying to do a show here. Can you please hold it until intermission?" and the aduience cracked up and the guy was so embarressed lol.
