  • i love this film the bits i have seen of it i feel more at home with this era than my own , must have lived before , thank you great movie !!!!!

  • Worth it just to see Celia Johnson. She's always great.

  • Some of it was better, some worse. Parts of London had the worst slums in the world. Noel Coward was one of the 20th century's best writers, but please don't have any illusions about living back then.

  • I always enjoyed this film when it was shown on TV. I got the 2 disc dvd today.

There's an interesting bit in the special features that compares the original footage with the re-mastered version. I've got to say that I think the original looks better - what do you think..?

To be fair, once you start watching the feature, without the comparison, you don't really notice the difference.

  • a totaly outstanding film . that captures so well the era from the start & finish of world war two . great story of an ordinary family coping as they did . anyone over the age 60 will know someone in there family that relates to the characters in the film . they dont make them like this anymore . a fantastic film .

  • I've loved this film ever since I was a child and a two DVD version is released this coming Monday (UK only) 26th January 2009.

  • Seen this movie on TV and loved it.

Missed it when it was released on DVD before, but I'll definately buy it when the two disc set comes out in the UK on 26-1-2009.
