i need to know if the original shaft from the 86 fit the new transmission ,and how are the gears of the new trany compare to the old one and what ratio of rear end is on the truck now.I am putting the same motor trany on my 67 chevy truck shortbed.is it faster with the new motor combo.like your work work ,please post me back.
I got a lot of questions for you about this conversion. How can i contact you other than posting back and forth on here? I just really want input from someone whos done it because some of these forums are all over the place.
Did you have to shorten the factory drive shaft to make this converison work or did it work without modification? Also, did you use the factory transmission crossmember and drill additional holes or did that also work. Looking to do the same swap on a 1987 short wheel based silverado. Any knowledge I can gain prior to starting would be helpful.
I did not have to shorten the drive shaft or move tranny xmember. I got lucky, going from 305/th350 to 6.0/4l80e. All I had to do was weld a small extension tab and gusset to the rear of tranny xmember to get the correct mount placement.
I think it's the bad audio on the camera, but it sounds like the valves need a small adjustment. Oh I see you dont have your exhaust done, those noises can sound similar. Looks
I did not have to modify them at all, Fit perfect, just make sure you let them know what tranny you are using. th 4l80e is a little bigger and collectors need to be kicked out a little more than on the 4l60e.
looks good man, did you make the engine harness yourself. also what motor mounts did you get are they 1" offset or standard. i ask these questions because im swaping a 5.3L in my 82 c-10.
Was the motor swap? And did it cause problems after you put a motor with a computer in it.

Yes, the og shaft fit, just needed a new ujoint. $ speed tranny is WAY better than old 3spd, night and day.
3.73 posi, and yes, VERY fast.
Sorry to say I sold the truck 2 weeks ago. I'll miss it.
thx...John
