i dont understand, is my memory totally failing me? saw them at pukkelpop festival like 4 years ago or something like that and i remember some heavy grunge music but not this... maybe earlier work?
saw them filming this song - on wimbledon common - was just walking my dog with my sister and we heard this really cool music being played from inside a forest and so we went to see and a crowd started to form- it was so cool! it was the first time i had ever heard of them but now am hooked! sooo gooodd! XX
how are these guys not insanely popular? really. even with the second album change in sound, they are the best band i've ever heard that's got a mainstream sound.
I miss the old Black Alps. The dark, heavy Nine Black Alps. Look at them now. Their just so upbeat and poppy. I hope they go back to being a grunge band and stop their alternative rock sound. Its not them.
shame a band that could of been the next big thing turned in to an other ash. i was a big fan of the first album and being from wythenshawe just round the corner (manchester england)i was well stokked when this band popped up.and the same with ash first two but this is dreadfull for a band which i hopped would be huge by this time, its a shame the whole comercal market has got its say in this day and age. bring back grunge
They were going to be the next Nirvana :( So sad such a good grunge band had to go. Love/Hate is a horrible album. :( I wish I saw them live just before Love/Hate came out.
..'their second record is an insult to those they attempt to pay tribute, a bafflingly lightweight concoction of copped riffs and banal lyrics.'...i guess they just experimengrungly, added more popish but less grungy?
I disagree they still bring it although it is produced a little heavier but I think it works. The grunge is still there (California Beach Boy grunge). The songs stand out a little more than first album though. Mainstream? kinda yeah a little more but did not ditch core audience.
good song but wtf has happened to then? They have ditched what they were and just another nme shagging band. I dont like to say this because i love nine black alps. But its clear this is just painting by numbers join the dots nonsence. Its no cosmopolitan and they sort have become one of those inter mainstream bands. You cant blame them, they just went where the money is tis all!
i prefer the hardcore agressive stuff, saw them live in August and they were great but as soon as they played their slow, newer stuff the crowd went still, no-one was sure what to do until they got to their more edgier tracks
Hello!. I'm a for real ! and not some robot sending out messages. Secondly, I want to share what is exploding all over the US, a business generating $1000 for every sale I make.

I too am quite dissapointed. I love Everything Is because there's really something to it, this is just a bit dull. Listen to this song and then "Not Everyone": it sounds like two different bands.

My point is that I love this song.

they really don't. THey actually really suck.
trueloveisnotreal 3 years ago
In my mind, you really have to have no one else to hate (or no life) to think the Beatles "suck."

thatchick230 3 years ago 5
if they became "insanely popular", they would probably lose their credibility as they gain that "mainstream sound"
i agree, they are one of the best non mainstream bands.

this is good, but sounds nothing like nirvana. nirvana is grungey, distorted, and not poppy like this.

A lot of you are pretty nostalgic. They sound like a completely different genre, I know... but I still dig it.
