Some may follow, but nobody will get ahead, it's that simple. Rakim is impeccable, so fluid he's off-the-hook Dope, liquid Gold! Man, this brother is like opium to the ears; you can free-base The "R" off the speakers, no other MC comes even close: he was at his zenith in 86, and today he's twilight years ahead, both lyrically and philosophically. God said: Let there be Hip-Hop. And there was The "R".
He was before his time and he aint talkn bout no BS hes talk bout his skills!! " I CAN TAKE A PHRASE THAT RARELY HEARD FLIP IT AND IT'S DEADLY WORD!!!!" motherfuckers aint got no skills to talk about these days!!!

well...if u listen you can hear him take breths but they are quick ones so you barley here em.. he knows when and how to breeth that's how you know if a raper is good =) not on how quick he is..
Rakim kills this!.His rhyme schemes are peerless and steeped in complex word-play that sounds effortless, just as a right hook from Ali looks deceptively simple - yet both pack a powerful punch, and really, when you hear Rakim and Nas back-to-back, Rakim just has it down to a precise art - that's how good he is. Ageless, diamond-sharp, Rakim still wears the crown in Hip-Hop, no disrespect to Nas, of course.
WHAT HAPPENED TO HIP HOP.. this shit saddens me nowadays.. fuck lil wayne . fuck gucci . fuck all these whack ass rappers that are destroying what i love yo .. lol but really tho this is real hip hop .. rakim for life yo
Rakim = real hip hop!! If ya enjoy creativity go to my channel listen to "Connecticut" its a song I did only using words that starts with the letter C or the letter T
It amuses me that people are peddling "How To Rap books,"and here is Hip-Hop's most erudite brother spitting lava - and where did he learn this from? Well, it wasn't a fucking book, that's for sure! It's called swag, talent, skillz

why are there ads on this video for "Young Jeezy", "Nicki Minaj" and some little homo named "MGK"? and who the fuck is "Waka Flocka Flame"?? today's so-called hip hop is the worst excuse for music i've ever heard.
it's sad to see my generation as a mindless group of pathetic teenage zombies trying to fit in with the "cool crowd".
I miss Eric B & Rakim. back when hip hop meant something.
One of the best joints from one of the best mc's to ever pick up the mic. I mean if you don't believe me, download the lyrics from this song and try to rap along to it. Exactly, and this cat not only wrote it but could spit it blindfolded with both hands tied behind his back. Much respect due Rakim...artists like this need to celebrated because before long, there won't be many more left and then we're stuck with nothing but duck mcees like lil wayne
Man I wish he would go back to this flow. He and Erick B. need to have a reunion. This is still the dopest song ever in Hip Hop. Canibus is the only dude that can possibly touch Rakim in intelligence. However, Rakim is untouchable with this flow.
@bebopdad If you think Canibus is the only one who can touch Ra in term of intelligence, you should check out K-Rino's The Debate, Ultimate Flow, Duality and Four dimensions of a Universe.
@Super1872Rangers I know about K-Rino and in fact like him. However, what I am talking about is the total package tone, flow, and intelligence. I do not like K-Rino's voice compared to Rakim, and Canibus. In addition, I know that there are others that have a better tone (RZA), but it is the total package that sets one apart. By the way check out a group by the name of COURAGE (The Art of Spiritual Warfare). the mc of the group has some dope lyrics, but I do not like his tone.
@bebopdad See I feel the opposite. Everyone knows Bis is lyrics, probably the most lyrical ever, but he has horrible flow, it's as bad as Immortal Technique's flow. I still like him despite this.
I like RZA's voice, his sloppy delivery, but the dude can't stay on beat to save his life. I think K-Rino has everything to make a great MC. I just wish there was more songs with both Bis and K in them. There's only 2 and that's from the Bis' last album.
@TheHoffmanHouse I bought Rakims last Album and was disappointed I felt he should be hanging with the underground cats and not trying to appeal to 106 and Park. If he did that I think he could still drop his dopes album ever. He is the model for true hip hop and should not bow down to the industry for record sales.
@holguineddie Get up on your history man! This is the ultimate MC in his prime. I wish he was doing some stuff now with the likes of MF Doom, Canibus, El-p. It would be amazing if RA even did an album with the likes of Kanye West.

@4858312 pac? really?? pac had great emotional content (a bruce lee reference i know but it works in the case of pac), a crisp flow, made classic hip hop records and will forever be one of the greatest in hip hop......but pac was no battle rapper nor was he ever even close to being one of most techincally skilled rappers to ever put intricate rhymes together, so im not sure how u dont see pac losing in a 1 one 1 battle tho with any mc tho. @rinmaone2 If thats yo real opinion of pac then cool, u are entitled to it. I guarantee pac could not hang with mcs like supernatural in a battle line for line. Thats all im saying.
Rakim is Hip-Hop's finest - he's still spitting fire, and personally - he's even sharper and FRESHER now. No other cat can step to this brother - not Nas, not GZA, not Mos, nobody! Rakim's The 18th Letter is example enough of how he flows without breaking a sweat, and comes up with mataphores and catch-phrases that leave your mind melted. Damn sick brother. @WOLFEtwc this video was a take on a popular movie of the time the untouchables Deniro Costner Connerry no offense but u must have been born in the 80s
U SHOULD read this if u are a music lover & enjoy good music i'm a rapper from detroit and i know there's tons of people that think they can flow But I'm different, if u give me a chance ill show u I would love nothing more than to have a decent following on youtube & from anyone who reads this could press the "THUMBS UP" other people will see it just a simple button press could make my dream come true & click on my name or search DREDAY368 to hear my music plz & THANK U
Please b very clear n understand. Rakim was the first 2 start breakin' joints down into patterns and pauses... He' is the architect,, no hook needed. This was lyricism @ its best late 80's... 1 mo gin late 80's.... Rakim top 5 dead or alive .... bring me some body better... I dare u....
From century to century you'll remember me - In history - not a mystery or a memory, God by nature, mind raised in Asia - Since you was tricked, I have to raise ya - From the cradle to the grave, but remember - You're not a slave, Cause we was put here to be much more than that - But we couldn't see it because our mind was trapped, But I'm here to break away the chains, take away the pains Remake the brains, reveal my name I guess nobody told you a little knowledge is Dangerous

Hello Everyone!
It’s Music that’s keeping me alive.
My life is so difficult and the only thing to forget my problems is the Music.
All of you will think I’m crazy but you’re wrong
Because singing and writing I can be who really I am.
I’m so grateful because now I can smile, dreaming, screaming. (And I owe it all to music and to god)
Well, I made some covers and I just upload it to my channel and I’ll be grateful if you stop by my channel and check it out.
Thank you so much!!

Hello Everyone!
Singing is a way to express oneself emotions through a song
I'm a 17 years old who is trying to make my dream come true.
Music enhances our lives. Thanks God for it.
In the future, I'll make music because I want to show people my emotions through music that I love.
I have such huge dreams that i know and hope YouTube could make them come true if you are one of those people who took the time out to read this.
please help me make my dream come true by going to my channel.
THANKS
