I guess this was a blessing in disguise...As a State fan, I'll give it to Ole Miss....this was a beat down, but it did seal Croom's(who i believe is a phenomenal man and did a great job a cleaning up the attitudes/character on the team) fate. After hiring Dan Mullen, State went from getting shut out by 45 to throwing up 41 points and winning....then winning 9 games in 2010...He's got a long way to go before definitively proving he's the real deal..but i have confidence in him...GO BULLDAWGS!

This game wasn't as close as the score. After a monster first quarter, Ole Miss pulled back the throttle quite a bit. Had they kept their foot on the gas, it could have been something like 73-0.

@Linester25 Miss State was the better team this past year, no question about that. The 52-14 beatdown of Michigan was about the most impressive bowl game I'd seen since USC spanked the Sooners 55-19.
You never know what can happen in a rivalry game, so it's impossible to make predictions. I will say this, though, both teams will bring their A-game.

It might be three steps forward, one step back for awhile (2010 was Ole Miss's step back), but in the end it'll be worth it for both schools.

its nice to see somebody that is an ole miss fan outside of oxford, it seems that in every city in mississippi besides oxford like state. I live in oxford, about 5 minutes away from the ole miss campus and i don't just plan on going to ole miss, i plan on playing football there
Boone pulls anything that borders on controversy. Dixie has always been on that border. There is nothing wrong with the song but when we add something that might be more controversial, they are likely to pull it. I used to love that, but I also used to love the flags. I have since realized that if we want to keep Ole Miss from losing anything else (i.e. col. reb, the flags, even the band dressing in confederate outfits while a giant flag ran over them in the 60's) we have to watch pushing it.
Why? Because it makes us look bad. People on the outside looking in don't understand it and, as much as it sucks, you've got to somewhat pander to them.
I think our future depends on who we are able to pick up at the O-line and secondary spots.
D-line has pretty good depth, RB, QB, WR, TE and special teams will be as good if not better this next season. If we can cover the pass and keep Jevan safe then 2009 could end up with us in Atlanta (not for the chick-fil-a bowl either.)
How bout them Rebtiles? That was the most fun I've had watching an Egg Bowl in a long time. Nutt got those boys playing and they peaked at the right time. The last three games have been complete dominations and two were shutouts. Dallas here we come!
That was a pretty great way to close out the first semester of a freshman year. A big win, a great celebration, and a trip to Dallas over winter break.
