  • why when i create window the wall not cut off?

  • Why is it so noisy in the indian streets? :o

  • it's amazing how u can concentrate on your work despite the noise outside & leaving the window open. great video anyway!

  • tHANKS GOOD TUTORIAL.... please close the window next time ;)

  • I have no ard and design in max 8 what can i do... pls some reply

  • i like how you are just so focused on what you are doing even with all the traffic noise in the back.

  • Very nice tutorial

  • Great tutorial. Thanks!

  • Great job its beautiful but i have one question is this 3d max thing the same as cad or autocad or is it a different program? And do u live in NY by any chance that sounds like NY traffic outside

  • @Radd1992 @Radd1992, AUTOCAD mostly use for drafting, planning, all dwg stuff. Where 3ds Max is a 3D modeling, animation and rendering program from the Media and Entertainment.

  • @prodesigner24x7 oh okay thanks i understand now

  • @Radd1992 you can also take Autocad,Revit, and Inventor and import models from those programs and render and edit them in 3ds max

  • @F22xSTEALTHx really? thats interesting im takin an autoCAD class right now u think i should take a 3D max course as well? im majoring in Architecture

  • @Radd1992 it wouldn't hurt, its a multipurpose tool that i like because it has a lot of powerful rendering and animation tools so i would recommend it highly.

  • I have no arc and design mantal ray in max 8 .... what can i do

  • Hi

My doors or windows did not always create (cut) a space and it happens only sometimes. What will be the problem ? Your Video is so far the best youtube tutorial. Expect more

    tutorial from you in future.

  • @johnbuhril, You have to LINK the doors and windows to wall then it will (cut) always.

You will find the Link option on Top left corner of 3dsmax (In Main Toolbar).

    Thanks

  • LEGEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MOST WELL EXPLAINED TUTORIAL OF RENDERING WITH MENTAL RAY!

  • @WoofyProductions Thanks! I am glad you liked it.

  • thx man helped

  • Wow, looks like it is a useful tutorial. I will check it tomorrow. Thanks.

  • o nice cleared voice... clear vides and helps a lot to anyone,, thnks dude

  • Its there any good lighting system that doesn't involve mental ray because I find that it limits certain effects, more specifically in my case, lense effects. I'm just looking for a good general lighting effect or technique that would simulate day light similar to the day light system.

  • @EtienneLF, Lens effect can be create in post-production (After Rendering) in Photoshop. There are some plugins to create nice LENS EFFECTS.

  • dude you helpd me so much

    THANK YOUUUUU haha

  • hi, this is prasad very nice tutorial thank Q for that

  • great tutorial.....u sound like your in New York

  • BEEP BEEP BEEEEEEEP BEEEP BEEP!!!

  • this is india :)

  • man, those cars, grrr !

  • Hi..Very nice and simple tutorial. Thank you for the wonderful video.

I have one Question: When we use a ready door/window it make (create) space for itself on the wall, if we modify the window/door and place it on the wall will it still have(make) a space?

And another thing I want to request you is...Please make another tutorial on exterior lighting (mr ray)...and which is better mr ray or vray for for rendering(architecture mainly).

  • wow... i'm totally going to use that Wall tool now.

  • Well explained tutorial - good job!

  • any way we can get a hold of the CAD file you used for the floor plan?

  • A lot of thanks from France :)

  • If your window isn't making a gap in the wall...Try the 'select and link' button at the top left, directly under the application button. Then select the window and drag the cursor onto the wall.

  • @james342121 hey thanks James, It worked.

  • @prodesigner24x7 np :)

  • in first 5 seconds you are speaking like spock

  • thank you very much.. that was quite usefull

  • lol, what about extrude the map and create booleans for windows and doors? just an idea

  • @magicortega, that is an another option but this was new option to make windows n doors, and once you have created them you can move them anywhere on wall not complicated as boolean.

  • @prodesigner24x7 I used boolean on a building project and it only supported a limited number of objects so I couldn't make all the windows it used. I forgot what "trick" I used but I'm guessing manual modeling :(

  • @magicortega : i think boolean isn´t the right way for professionell modelling.i only use it if there isn´t another way. i made bad experiences with that. and also the wall tool in max isn´t my first choice. for stills maybe it´s ok, but if you have an animated scenes it can cause flickering in the building.

i prefer to use splines for the walls and then extrude it. then i cut the windows and doors and bridge it to make a hole.

  • seriously, where r u from?

  • @Kd4Master, I am from india.

  • @prodesigner24x7 great!

  • @Kd4Master cant you hear

  • hello JAI, thanks a lot for this great tutorial, I've tried it (3ds max 2011) I am quite a beginner, my windows snap as yours but they won't cut the hole as you said. what am I possibly doing wrong? Thank you in advance for your answer.

  • @otomicz, hi, I have not used 3ds max 2011 yet but I am sure that 2011 follows the same rule as 2009 so try to rotate the window/door to 180 deg..

Or you can simply make a box (put the size which you want) then Boolean it with the walls then you can put your windows/doors.

Sometimes my method can be hard to achieve.

Thanks for giving me thanks in advance :)

  • thanks a lot jai, m using 3D Max 2009 only but still m having a same problem.i want a fast rendering possess.

  • Thanks a lot for your replay Jai,

i have one moor qn, my pc configuration is Core Quod with 2.7GHz with 3Gb ram and 1 GB Display card, but i having 12 ro 13 hrs to rendering my project with V-ray pulgging only, other wise no any problem with normal 3D Max projext....

it is possible to done V-ray project rendering in 1-2 hrs???

pls help me for resolve my issues.

  • @jignesh318, Which version of max you are using now? As I said before if you are using 3ds max 2010 please switch back to 3ds max 2009 due to some vray speed issues. You can send me your scene (complete archive) so i can tell your, where is the problem in your scene. my email id is jaigoel@live.com

  • hi ... my self jignesh....i am using 3D max2009 with Vray plugging but my system is taking 12 to 13 hrs for rendering so any one have any idea bout system requerment for V-Ray plugging????

  • @jignesh318, Hi jignesh, I would say that you should have min-2 gb of ram with dual core or core 2 duo cpu that's it. nothing else. But remember one thing, there are some speed issues with v-ray in 3ds max 2010, it would be better if you switch back to 3ds max 2009 as soon as possible.

    Thanks

    JAI

  • This is a great tutorial man and it has helped me a lot. I am a complete beginner and I wanted to learn to model an interior scene. I searched for something like this for a long time on YouTube.

    ??!!!

  • Man, thanks a lot for your video, I really appreciate it. I think it's the best video for beginners on indoor rendering on youtube. Really dude, finally I understand the meaning of "global illumination" "final gather" and all that stuff that never did sense to me ;-)

Thaniks a lot fom Italy, you really helped me with my job, hope you will publish a video on outdoor lighiting as well ;-)

A question, I have the opposite problems of the other guy, the room it's too white...any help? ;-)

    cheers

  • my friend this is a great 1

    thanx

  • this tutorial is so great!

  • did you record this on the trian?

  • @Revoluti0nStudi0s haha nice one.

  • Comment removed

  • @Revoluti0nStudi0s Of course he did, there's always loadsa cars and lorries beeping their horns on train tracks! Get out the way Train!!! MOOOOVE!

  • @Revoluti0nStudi0s This is what its like on the streets of India lol

  • hear the car horns in the background? that's what India sounds like 24/7 in any weather....I wonder how pple live in such environments, I was greatly bothered by the traffic noise when I was there. Other than that its a great country, very cheap, and great food, still worth a visit....oh and thanx for the video btw :)

  • When you create the doors and windows, do they automatically create the holes in the walls themselves ? I tried creating a window but the wall was still there so I couldn't see through it !

  • @steveN111333 you have to create the holes yourself, in order to make it see through just add a glass translucent material to the glass window :)

  • @pinkomonkey88

hey thanks, how would you recommend creating the holes ? maybe create a cube, insert it into the wall and then do a boolean removal ?

  • @steveN111333

i guess you could do that, depending on which ever way that you're familiar with...

like this room above, maybe u could convert it to editable poly and select the polygons u want to turn into a window and just add a glass map to the selected window and as for the frame just put the rectangle frame around it..and voila..

  • @steveN111333

btw just watched this video till the end..LOL...

when u created the window at the wall there shouldnt be a problem cause it should automatically created the whole for you, just make sure the depth of your window is just nice to fit the depth of your wall..then you'll realize that it has created a wall for u .. :D

  • Comment removed

  • hi, great tutorial. to those who are having the windows problem, make sure you click and drag to define the width of the window then move the mouse upwards to define height. if the windows are still inside the wall, move them up from the floor.

    BUT

when i render its completely black! does anyone know what ive done wrong????

  • @afromatic

i dont quite understand your situation actually, but did u do the window separately? and what map did u added to the window? maybe thats the problem, sorry didnt help much.

  • Hey dude, I like this tutorial, but I have a problem, when I draw the windows, the wall is still inside . I mean, I can't see through the wall when I open the window, what can I do?

  • yup i have same problem

  • Good tutorial thank you!

  • KIali bai !

  • embromation tion! embromation tion! embromation tion!

  • Can you Upload the CAD File? Thx

  • hi there....this is really nice tutorial...i want to ask you about the drawing you made for the interior design,,,how can we make it..can anyone tell me

  • some features like utility gamma shader is not available in 3ds max 9 but you can achieve this type of rendering in 3ds max 9.

  • thank but this tutorial can do with 3ds max9 right?

  • how do you move the comare when you rander?

  • @omegadavid99 Well, when you're rendering, you're basically making a picture of the scene. If you want to make the scene come to life, you'll have to first create a camera and animate it using the AutoKey slider at the bottom. There's tons of tutorials out there on animating. Just practice it yourself and see how many different angles you can render your scenes in.

  • @UnitedDiscord and then what i do a normal render or is there another option?

  • If you wanna get the realistic lighting effects seen here, you wanna use lighting engines such as MentalRay or Vray, to name a few. However, if you just want to render your scene, it really doesn't matter which rendering option you use. If you wish to do, say, a scene with a moving camera, you have to place a camera in your scene, animate it using the autokey slider, and when you go into render, click "Range" instead of "Single" in the "Time Output" category.

  • sorry i cant find it and im using 3ds max 10 buty i dont think it makes a diffrens

  • great tutorial make more please!!

  • Lot of traffic outside.

  • I have been trying to place windows and doors but the program doesn't make it like you show in your tutorial? Show me doors and walls mixed.. do I need to link doors and walls or what I doing wrong? S.O.S. :)

  • pidar

  • Yes and What of 3DS versions it is???

  • How did you creat the Scelet for Wall???

I know that is so Complicated but please can you show us? plzzz...
