  • Ryan: And now, whenever my dog wants to go outside, he would ring the bell...

Dog: ring ring ring ring ring ring ring

  • I can't take my puppy outside... :(

  • its very windy in your house.

  • easy solution dogs outside period

  • @MrRedcelica Bad and Stupid solution. If you just got them to keep them outside you don't deserve to have the dog.

  • Omg i saw my sister do this with her husky puppy the other day. Lol its really cool. But sometimes the dog just wants to get out and play XD

  • wow now thats an idea ive never seen! new & original =)

  • ok...... dude u didnt show anything abot potty training the bell seriously thanx alot.

  • ok...... dude u didnt show anything abot potty training the bell seriously thanx alot.

  • yall negative people are haters i think its clever okay so how long does it take for them to learn

  • Butters come here! don't embarrass me in front of the camera

  • SOMEBODY NEEDS TO TRAIN YOU TO TAKE OUT THE TRASH BEFORE MAKING A VIDEO

  • VERY informative, I'm so trying this!

  • andwhen you aren`t home what`s gonna happen? the dog will keep ringing the doorbell and then what?............please explain. thanks

  • Charles does this with marley and zoey! but for park walks lol

  • lol this guys hose is a mess

  • lmao love the have to get a treat to get im to come back in .... niiiice training expert guy

  • I mean Video

  • I Like the vidio but my dog is already trained

  • Respond to this video... im gonna try this on my baby cousin.

  • We do that and weve never seen this video.

  • Great idea, if Maria Montessori was a dog trainer shed do this lol

  • You Suck

  • this video failed.

My dog now knows to go outside and run around, but poops inside lol

  • This dog has been trained to link the ring of a bell with the door opening and being allowed outside. Not to potty, but to go outside, which is likely the most positive reward imaginable for this shutdown dog .

NOTE- that when he recalls his dog to come inside, the dog does not respond. Ryan has to go and fetch a treat to recall his dog- the yard being infinitely more desirable and rewarding than coming to him.

  • actual helpful video! this is smart

  • after two weeks of this training my dog rings the bell all the time now, each time she wants outside which is like 10 times a day....

How do i make my dog ring only when she needs to go to "work" outside ??

  • thats why he doesnt do it in the video right tool bag?

  • what if the dog just plays with it? nothing else? cuz if i do that im sure my dog is going to play with it instead of using to go to the bathroom

  • @rayrhinohair well if u follow his exact steps by letting them out...ur dog will understand that it means he has to go out...even if he likes to play with things...he wouldnt in this case...try it!!!!

  • @MakeupandHairGirl ok =) and yeah i put the bell but its like 10:44pm and i have to go sleep soon so ill do it tomorrow =)

  • ugh my do g cant stop shitin

  • okay so you trained him to go into your backyard when you open the door? GENius man

  • @bboyorc ok, well since YOUR such the GENIUS, then you should've paid attention to the fact that he trained the dog, to ASK to go outside. THAT'S GENIUS.

  • The only reason this works for him is because the dog gets an Positive reward after ringing the bell... 99% of the other vids this guy has been in shows that he's using punishment based "training".. no wonder why the dogs never come when he calls them... don't take advice from this guy please.. check some clickertraining and positive reinforcement instead.

  • oh.my.god "expert" village are useless at being helpful AT ALL .i mean ...all their videos that i seem to come across are hopeless.

  • cant see the vid thumbs up if u have same problem

  • i cant see this video..thumbs up here if u have the same problem

  • what the fuck is up with these subtitles they are frkn annoying thumbs up if u agree

  • @armen131 you can turn it off which the button is on the left of the pop out button.

  • @armen131 sorry bout that i didnt know how to remove them :P

  • omfg

  • omg this woorked thanks

  • I tried this and it worked! Thank you so much!

  • Wow Clever :)

  • ummmmmmm can i see anything

  • Good idea for maybe older dogs, but definitely not for puppies. my puppy will rip it off and chew it bone dry.

  • this is fucking stupid and it doesnt work

  • My Dog controls his bladder and shit now when his outside. and only pees and shits in his cage == now

  • my dog will rip the bell down. and find a way to chew it lol

  • my dog hits the door stopper lol... :P

  • well let him go his waiting!! :))

  • the dog actually trained him to open the door for him

  • I wanna see the dog close the door.... that would've been cool to see... or detect landmines! that would be sweet!

  • good ide cause mine's still pissing in my caret

  • My family's thinking about getting a dog, but the problem is, my parents will be at work, and i'm giong to be at school, so how would the dog pee/poo when we're gone? Also, we don't have a doggy door.

    Any solutions?

  • @lilycanadian get an already trained older dog, 6 - 9 months old and a dog door installed to a fenced area. on Petfinders you can wait until the perfect age or breed comes up. Give him at least a week with someone there all day long to help him transition. good luck.

  • Help! my dog likes to do 10 different small pees instead of one big one how do i stop this?

  • @ihatefatpeople3000 Is he a male? Male dogs usually do that... it's a male thing... don't think you can stop it. He's just marking.

  • @CaRoLiiiS Yeah hes a male, coincidently a selfish one too

  • LOL @ echo1v

  • i pretended to bark when i opened the door and now my dog always barks by the door when he wants to go out. and when he peed in the house i took him *while peeing out to pee in the garden and said that he was good

  • @1337saklart ahh this is good to know, thanks for sharing :)

  • What about at night and during the winter months??? Sometimes I feel its better to get my puppy a litter box???

  • but its a good idea .. with the "bell" if i get my new dobie or rottie puppy .. i will try this ... and i'll see if it will work..

  • when u called the dog it didnt come .. and i think its becoz in the other vid u said not to get the dog so excited and bla bla .. thats why when u called him he knew there was nothing exiting going on ... hope u understood coz i dnt nw how 2 acualty explain this ,, My dog always comes when i call Her .. !

  • This is a great trick, you don't have to have a back yard, you don't have to tie it to your blinds. you can take a bell on a string next to the door, maybe a little lower than window level just depending on the height of the dog. You could hook the pets leash right next to the door as well.. (or one at each entrance/exit) If you don't have a back yard like myself and many others, you should still walk your pets outside to potty.

  • pretty smart thinking howlong did it take you to train him i mean i assume it did not happen over night

  • I don't have a back yard could I do the bell thing ? I'm scarred my dog will rip the blinds off :/ he's being trying to chew on everything

  • wow, great idea.. i would have never thought of doing this.

  • what if I don't have a backyard?

  • fucking brilliant!! its too bad i have a sliding door tho im gonna see if there is a way to work around that and ill send u a response vid if it works with my girl here... this is one of the best training vids for pups to go to outside ive seen, cheers!! :D

  • What a great trick!! We already had our 9 week australian shepherd puppy walking towards the door when he needed to go, but the bell really has helped even more! Now when we aren't paying attention as much, we will hear the bell. How do you prevent them from ringing the bell execessively? We are worried that our puppy is going to ring it when he wants to just play outside, instead of just to pee/poop. We really want it to be just a tool for the bathroom:)

  • We did the bell method with our 1 year old Shepard, How intensey he rand the bell determined how bad he needed to go outside. fully intend on training our new puppy the same method.

  • shepards are great smart dogs when properly trained

  • wow neat idea never thought of that

  • This didn't help my at all

  • haha that's so epic!

  • this is real helpful thanks

  • This isn't potty training your dog. This is training your dog to ask to go outside. Getting them to go when outside is a completely different matter....

  • I use to have a dog name Butters as well

  • its really depends on the breed because some breed just dont get it right away

  • LMFAO kdesmond101,

Good idea for your puppys but with mine if I let them outside they go to my friends house to go get that female pup

  • "Rub his nose into the bell? So that's your training method?

  • its so the dog can realise that if he wants to be let out he needs to make the sound that the bell is making so he will do it automatically, durr.

  • wow, his dog name is Butters! like from South park! awesome!

  • I'm waiting for the part of the video that show's how to actually 'potty train' my dog?? Which time stamp should I be looking for?

This video would be great if I wanted to see how people let perfectly trained dogs go outside, oh wait... I've seen that a million times before.

  • i know all these videos, tell you "how they've done it" but at no pint do they show you, they should take a puppy and do a video every day and show you how to do it

  • @derfnart He said it , so every time you are going to let ur dog ( if you live on a house or smtin) or take him on a walk ur self just take his nose and bang it up to a bell after few days he'll start using the bell him self. Might even happen sooner. You just need to let him know that there is a way for him to tell you " MAN I HAVE TO PEE NOW" . My dog develpoed his own thing hed come up to me touch me with his nose and start walking towards the exit.

  • @derfnart he cleary said everytime he took his fog out he rubbed his noes on the belll n took him out and then the dog start doing it too so just do tht

  • @derfnart Beleive it or not, i have no idea how to train dogs, and i'm 12 years old. I've trained my dog to ring the door bell to go outside. And she's a doberman, apparently one of the most stubborn breeds. You can only train your dog to do something, if your willing to put the effort in. Consistency, you can't just do it 3 times and say that you tried.

  • 5 stars very clever wishbone can totally do that

  • woah thats a great idea.

  • Thanks Andy Roddick

  • he does look like andy roddick.. only roddick is much more handsomer..

  • i take my dog out all the time, then i take him back inside after about 10 minutes and right when he gets back in he goes to the bathroom!

  • thats a cool way of housebreaking :]

  • well for our dog we bring her outside with no leash and brought her right in the house exactly when she was finish and she got the picture she know the routine and she wait by the door when she needs it and she goes in the house when she finish without us but its hard to train our shit zu

  • yeah not d smartest dog

  • wow.. he is so damn hot =]

    Thanks for the advice

  • my dog always houwls at me when she has to pee

  • watch?v=WaiF2lSS0wI

  • thx!

  • how do you know when he needs to go outside?

  • my dog usually runs around in circles for a few seconds sniffing with his ears back.

  • the dog ring the bell?

  • bells dont really work for me i mean some jus do it cuz they are curious or to play with the bell its not always because they have 2 use the bathroom

  • its funny how people conveniently found error in his method of training but clearly you need help training your dog. way to be everything but a "problem solver". lol

  • Stop posting dipshitty comments. Get out of here noob.

  • hmm too bad i have a glass sliding door. so how am i suppose to teach him to close a sliding door??? hmmmm

  • They make dog doors for sliding glass doors, plain or electronic, That might help.

  • I bought a pen and put his bed in also an area for pee and poop but he escaped. I went out and left him in his pen when I came back he was on my bed. I am thinking of renaming him Houdini. We take him out every hour and a treat for doing something. Dont play with him when outside for toilet just stand quietly and say nothing except maybe his command for pee we say "quick". Good Luck they are worse than babies.

  • .this sucks dosent even help....

  • so that is operant or classical conditioning? im doing a behaviour degree and im learning about all this....its kinda classical because its associating a previously neutral stimulus (the bell) with going outside...but its kinda operant because its getting a reward for its behaviour so its likely to be reapeated....lol, i dont know which one it is!!!

  • Excellent dude, finally a helpful video. I love how the nimrod below "kittylove5" wants to give you advice. Oh well, that's a cat lover for you.

  • What's with the bad name calling? She asked for an advice and I gave her one, I was NOT giving the Video maker one.

  • Watched this video the day I got my 2 month old yellow lab puppy.. By the end of the first day we were done house training!!! Awesome! Thanks for the tip.

  • very informative thanks

  • i think these are good ideas what i found funny about this video is the dam dog rang the bell like five times lol! then he finally lets him out 5 secs later he wants to show you the other trick so he doesnt pause the camera and the dog is probably like dude I have gotta pee!!! give me some time!!!

  • This was so helpful, bell is a great idea and we'll try it. Thanks!

  • Yeah butt how do you train your dog to shit in the house?

  • Its a brilliant idea. People in condominiums can use pee pads or news papers to train your pup to release there.

  • i have the pee pee pads and my dog will not pee on them at all! he's five months old. he wont take a poop in the house but after i walk him he waits until he get in the house and then takes a pee on the carpet..how do u train them to use the pee pee pads?

  • Kissed, I learned that Pee pads have their flaws. When you train your dog to go inside on a pee pad, it'll think Weeing inside is a good thing. So all that training in the house would have to stop. He cannot hold it in, take him back in and watch him, five minutes later take him out and take him out when he shows signs of needing to go (Walking in circles, sniffling around and scratching)

  • Remember praise the dog when he finally does go, make the dog feel like a million bucks because afterall, A dog loves attention from its owner.

Also, be sure to be there when he does go, repeat a word you can asociate it with, that will be your command to go to the bathroom.

    Hope that helps

  • here's whats happening now. i keep him in a kennel because he's a pup and he's eating everything in sight! when he wakes up and starts crying i hold him in hand and take him outside to pee and he does then i take him back in. he never pees in the kennel! but will pee everywhere eles if you dont watch him. i tried the news paper but that didnt work either. he just played with it. now i have to go back to work and no will be here with him, is it ok for him to hold it that long? being so he's a pup

  • i hope i can help. it seems a lot of people have this problem. i would say that you could block off areas with baby gates, so maybe he has the kitchen or some areas without carpet to hang in. COVER them in papers. even of he plays with them, he can still pee on the ones on the floor. just give him LOTS of fun toys too so he wont play as much with the paper. then keep him in his area when you bring him back inside. since he wont pee in the kennel he will be forced to pee on the paper which should

  • (2nd) be covering the floor. so all he has to pee on is the papers. when you clean them up when there dirty, leave a bottom layer or 2 (they should be layered not just 1 sheet) so that the scent of his pee is there. if you see him starting to pee in one area then, slowly remove the papers from the rest of the area. once your down to a little square, start bringing that square towards the door and then outside eventually. also dont be afraid to scold him if he pees where he is not supposed to...

  • (3rd) if you see him peeing say a sharp NO to startle him a bit. grab him and run outside. as soon as you put him down outside just be calm and let him pee, be patient. when he does make a HUGE fuss and give him treats. sorry i wrote for so long :) but i hope this helps.

  • thats a great idea! but i have carpet all over my house and my mom is not to happy with keeping him in the kitchen. i wonder will it work if i put the news paper inside his kennel? do u think that could be a start. because when i leave to go to work he holds his pee for about 4hour in the kennel and never pee's in there..so do u think newspapger inside the kennel will be ok?

  • hmmmm. well, honestly, i dont think papers in his kennel would be a good thing. the reason is that dogs do not want to pee in their "dens" or the places they sleep. it is unnatural for them to do so. i would say, get some sort of pen. that is just a small area and put your pup and the kennel in there, with the kennel open. put papers all over the small area (even with carpet, just make thicker layers. or you could use a pee pad sort of thing under the papers if you are afraid the pee will go

  • (2nd) through to the carpet (also they have a kind of metical blanket that you could use. people use it who wet the bed). and then just slowly do what i suggested before. but i think you should let the pup at least roam in the pen while you are gone, with toys. and make sure when you are home to spend lots of time outside and inside with him :) any other questions i would be happy to order

  • ok thats cool so when u say pen? do u mean something like a play pen? when i go to work i always feed him a snack and he has plenty of toys in his kennel...and its not so much of a kennel its actually a rabbit cage...you can fit three of him in there lol i wanted to make sure it was spacious. and he has a little bed in there and his blanket he's sweet as ever its just a lil hard training him...do u think im pushing it? like with him only being 7months? should i give him more time to devolop?

  • i dont know if my last msg went through, but im not sure. what i was sayinng that with a pen, he has his bathroom and big play area and he has his house. then you can start to potty train him if he goes outside his kennel. but just keep up the training. it can be hard, i know, but you will be rewarded. make sure to just take time to train commands etc. so that he gets used to learning. you know. more questions. i would be glad to help :)

  • Have you tried placing him in the bathroom with a babygate when you leave? Bathrooms usually have tile and dogs are want to pee less on tile because it splatters an dogs are actually petty clean animals. If you do decide keeping him in the bathoom gate him and puppyfroof the batroom, we don't want him gettin into something e shouldn't have.

  • i bought my puppy today its 2 months old i heard that puppies have small bladders so it will be hard for them to hold the pee in.i live in a apartment my mom put news paper all over he peed once and pooped once on the news papers and pooped twice on the carpet what should i do?

ps. he likes to sleep aALOT is that normal?

  • hi! I actually just got a 2 month old pup as well. so good that you have the papers. make sure to layer them and when the pup goes in one spot, pick up the top few papers in that spot and try to leave one layer so that can be her "pee spot". when she goes on the carpet, clean it thoroughly (with special cleaners) so she can't smell where she went before. puppies like to go pee where they have gone before. if you catch her going on the carpet, then say NO NO NO loudly and suddenly and pick her

  • up quickly while she is going (he will stop once u pick him up). then take him right outside and just wait til he pees, then praise him like CRAZY. treats too! yeah it is normal for pups to sleep a lot. they sleep most of the day. make sure EVERY time he wakes up, if he starts to walk around even a little, take him outside cause he WILL pee/poop. also like 15 minutes after eating. the more he pees outside and is praised, the less scolding u will do and he will learn!!!

  • oh man! thats the same with me! but we trained the dog this trcik its cool

  • omg awesome idea i love you!!!!!!!!

  • I cant thank you enough! My puppy knows to go out side rather than inside but would still pee by the door. I started the bell thing a week ago. two mornings later I woke up to the to the sound of bells. I went to the door where my puppy was waiting to be let out. Its a week later and not a single accident in the house.

  • My dog shiton the bell

  • lol have to get a treat for him to come to you

  • ok listen, if you HAVE to give the dog a treat just so that he comes, its not a well trained dog. but still the bells were cool

  • If your so smart why you watching this?

  • maybe cause i was having trouble with potty training my dog, since my usual dog trainer isnt availabe anymore. so there you have it

  • I so agree. Bells are good, but your dog should come when you call.

  • it is really good idea

  • nice tip lol u have really ggod ideas 5 stars and favorites

  • i really like that!

  • this guy aint no dog trainer he called the dog and the dog didnt come so he had to get treat for that

  • maybe he isnt a gud trainer or maybe the dog was ACCUALY SHITING

  • the dog came but wanted a treat to do the trick dogs can train people too

  • good

  • I'm gonna try that. Pee-pads don't really work for me x]

  • that would explain why my mom put a bell on the bathroom door when i was a child, now when i hear a bell i take a crap all over myself and salivate at the same time

  • @echo1v LOL!!!

  • hey ,i just both a lhasapoo dog and i wnted to know how to know whether when it wnts to pi or shit

  • what to do if he pi inside the house because he just didnt want to go outside or uses the pee pad

  • how do you get him to close the door?!

  • omg that is brilliant!!

  • the first dog is soo cute!

  • Hey i got a big problem with my dog and i was wondering if you had any ideas to help me with him. He's a silky terrior/poodle mix and about 5 years old. We've taught him many times to go to the door when he needs to go out. He does really well untill recently, he goes every where now. This has been happening for like the past 6 months, but I haven't been home most of the summer. He just went into the vet a month ago and he is a healthy dog. My dad is threatening to get rid of him now. Any ideas?

  • how do you know if your puppy is needin to go to the bathroom?

  • You need to keep an eye on him at all times of the day when he's young. Note the time every time he wants to go. Take him out around that time and treat him right after he does his stuff and say the word 'Do your stuff' while he does his stuff.

  • ull know if he needs to go 2 the bathroom bcuz they will either whine, sniff around, or stare at you. most dogs sniff around

  • but my dog is stupid and is scared of the bell

  • lol

  • I'm living in an upstairs apartment and her potty system is indoors. Any tips on training?

    Sandi

  • I have used this technique successfully with a few foster dogs (except we just hang the bell on the doorknob). HOWEVER, beware that your dog may learn that ringing the bell means you'll let him outside--even if he doesn't need to potty! Our 2 dogs learned quickly and started ringing the bell just to be let outside to play. We eventually just had to take the bell down.

  • hmmmmmmmmmm...smart!

  • Thank you, what a complete turn around! Iv been trying everything you have been saying to do in all your videos and it seems to be working realy well!

  • hey, cool as idea, one thing though... what happens if your dog just does it in the house, and trys to get out but you dont know... i dont get it to the fll extent???????
