  • What a tool, and a mediocre painter!

  • Of the top ten figurative artists currently out there almost all of them are alumni of the Florence Academy!

  • I have a strong desire study under Ted Seth Jacobs, Daniel Graves, John Angel, Jeremy Lipking, Morgan Weistling, Steve Hanks, Anthony Ryder and Jacob Collins.

  • Hello everyone, I have a few questions.

I really want to go to the florence art academy but I have 1 big problem. I do not have the money. Could someone give me a sum of how much their first year at the Academy cost? For example, 10000 school money, 1000 a year for the appartement, 1000 a year for groceries etc. So I can get a clear view of how much money the first year will cost?? Secondly, could you maybe give tips on how to get enough money by for example searching sponsors. Thanks in advanc!

  • Dear Daniel. A lot of talk, but you are a fake. Keep away from my clouds, if you put your rubish against mine you would know to stay away. Keep teaching, but stop copying.

  • @AndreDerain "stop copying"? What. He isnt copying anyone?

  • books, statues are one time costs, so they can be spread over a very long period.

Same with rent, buy a building in a backwater place and don't go for firenze. Spread out the payments over a very long time and student costs will drop.

And models and teachers don't warrant 200K per year. As I said before 100-120k a year in expenses. And drop scholarships, if people would only have to pay 10K in total(food+room+tuition), THEY WOULDN'T NEED scholarships in the first place. Is ridiculous.

  • Well mo91919. Tou dont have to attend the school. Just got to the regular state artschool, and learn the basics of fingerpainting and performance art. XD

  • Enjoy trying to make a living with realist art in a niche market.

And my comments were about the price of the school. Not about it's content.

    Learn to read.

  • @mo91919 I've read all of your comments here, and I have to say you obviously have no idea what you're talking about. There are a lot more than just 3 teachers in this school. There are 4 separate studios, each requiring a hefty monthly rent, as they are large spaces. Every day in each of these studios, there are AT LEAST 2-3 models posing for 6-8 hours a day, each. The school offers a lot of work/study opportunities and scholarships. The people running this school are hardly pocketing 100k/yr

  • It'd be an awesome school if it didn't take 50000 euro or more just to get 3 years of tuition over there.

    9000*3 (tuition)

    3600*3(place to live)

    3600*3(food+material)

And don't say that for a decent education you have to pay big money, there are decent state educations for every other profession, only art seems to be arseraped by modern art.

Of which the few good schools seem to take advantage for charging insane amounts :/

  • Don't kid yourself, you'll NEVER get an education like this in a liberal arts state institution. I have an art degree AND a graphic design degree and learned more in the first year at my atelier than I did four years at a state school. After starting at the atelier I attend, I began to surpass my classmates tenfold.

  • You're quoting on the current status of art schools. I'm saying it doesn't have to be.

If they got government sponsorship instead of the the current artschools we'd have an affordable alternative.

And to put into perspective, they give you the figurative basics, but going further with your own style and maybe adding conceptart to it, you will have to do on your own.

  • Florence Academy dont really take advantage of charging too much. I mean you can really draw ~5 hours of model every day. There are library, several instructors and alot of available scolarships. All that takes alot of money.

And Cecil and Angel cost almost as much. Cant just believe that they are taking too much money.

  • Let's say they get a classroom of 5 students per year. 3/4 years. Now that's 200.000 euro per year they get as an income. Now substract the costs of 3 teachers, 60-70k,and maybe 30k for the atelier. That leaves 100k that they just put in their pocket. AND that's only if they have 5 students per year.

Reasons it's expensive is because of this:

  • 1) Location, Firenze, beautiful as it is, does not warrant the extra costs.

    2) The schools are taken over by americans who are trying to squeeze the students for every penny they have and shove as many students as possible per class to make as much money as possible.

Look at the atelier program in toronto, academy of realist art, due to it's location, and it's still expensive, they charge about 11-14K per year to study there. And that's a shitload less for basically the same material.

  • If they did the school in a backwater place that had cheap affordable places to live at 200 euro's a month, rent a cheap factory, and try and cut out the moneywhoring, people could actually get this education at 10K a year total, instead of that amount just barely covering tuition.

  • Academy of realist art teaches different principles than FAA. IMO its not as good as FAA. They put alot of emphasis on making everything smooth, not making everything correct.

  • "hat leaves 100k that they just put in their pocket. AND that's only if they have 5 students per year.

Reasons it's expensive is because of this"

There is alot of scholarships available....

Ive studied and propable continue to study on this school. And really they dont charge too much. All it goes really to models, teachers salaries, books, statues, rents and stuff.

  • I go to Florence Academy and you get what you pay for. There are 4 studios total, about 25 in each. Drawing every night, world class instructors, and i pay 200 euros a month for a room, just depends on where you want to live. Don't compare it to another school, its not worth, im sold on it and its working on accreditation in the States so you will be able to get American Federal aid to attend.

  • @ftpolice57 True!!! Compare this schools tuition to the ringling or whatever pricy illustration school or art college. And think that you can learn more here than anywhere propably in the worls. Only school that can be compared to this one, is the Repin Institute. But eaven the Repin Institute isnt as good as this one... i think.

  • Y'know their are a lot of people who would love to learn a classical style of painting but they don't have an outlet for it. So they compromise and go digital or abstract. This is great, I've been following the ARC movement for a while and I think you guys have the right idea.

You have the same conception of art as Lyndon Larouche and look at how he's viewed in society. Good job I look forward to hearing more from you all.
