  • lol silly religious people ...

  • i use the term theist as an insult.. its worse than being retarded, because mental illness isn't your own fault

  • Good for you. No truelly honest sincere moral person can remain religious.

  • "Welcome to atheism, my friend! I'm a retired Christian and a Black atheist! I wish you the best of luck with your new life!"

  • FYI - you were never a Christian.

  • @jbooks888 Incorrect.

  • @djarm67 You wouldn't know.

  • @jbooks888 You wouldn't know. You're not a "real" Christian.

  • @djarm67 Hey - get your own retorts - I said it first.

  • @jbooks888 Your response is typical of someone who thinks they are a Christian but is not a real Christian.

  • @djarm67 This is getting redundant.

  • @jbooks888 Like your religion

  • @jbooks888 and you would?

  • @jbooks888 No true Scotsman fallacy.... Look it up.

  • @FSUjonnyD You want me to look up a scotsman's kilt? Degenerate.

  • @FSUjonnyD Fiddle faddle - there are true Christians and phoney ones. Look it up.

  • @jbooks888 why was he never a Christian?

  • @MrNicMachiavelli Someone who truly belongs to God cannot - it's impossible. No man would do it and God wouldn't allow it. A man does not save himself, he is saved by God, who maintains that relationship. People think they have free will, but they don't really. Those who are God's were God's from eternity! They always were and they always will be. There are many 'Christians' who are one day soon going to have a rude awakening.

  • @jbooks888 lol okay then. You seem so sure of yourself. You're wrong, on so many points, but hey, I can't unwork years of damage that have poisoned your thoughts as a result of religious fanaticism.

  • @MrNicMachiavelli Well, I appreciate your input, now run along.

  • @jbooks888 you are an immoral Christian hypocrite and if there is a hell you are going to burn there forever and ever.

  • @MrNicMachiavelli Ha ha ha - it's nice to get a reaction like that! Obviously I hit a nerve... again - HA HA HA HA HA.

  • @jbooks888 not really, if you saw my other comments I enjoy flaming back and forth. Now go burn.

  • @jbooks888 "Someone who truly belongs to God cannot"

WRONG - and I can prove it, scientifically. Please consult our Mental Institute. Let me operate on your diseased brain, which is suffering from J(the)Christ-Psychosis, and extract the IMPLANTED ALIENS from your Temporal Lobes. Afterwards, you will perceive REALITY soberly, and you will perceive and akknowledge the TRUE Creator P(the)C

  • @jbooks888 Then the rest of us is just hell bait, that's it ?

  • @jbooks888 who are you to judge who's truly christian and who's not.. smh. you're not a christian yourself. and you don't know anyone's heart. pay attention to your own beliefs.

  • @7digitss 1Corinthians 2:15

The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject to any man's judgment:

  • @jbooks888 Oh, and by the way, kiss my arse.

  • @jbooks888 Jesus would approve of you saying kissing my arse?

  • Comment removed

  • @jbooks888 Did you just tell yourself to kiss your own arse?

  • @jbooks888 GOt any idea of how pompuos you sound ?

  • @jbooks888 your not a "real" christian. your not a "true" christian either. you'll have to prove both.

  • Comment removed

  • @jbooks888 Christians are famous for those phrases & also cursing others. But it proves nothing.

  • @jbooks888 FYI - That is always what most evangelical Christians say to other former Christians who has stopped believing and or following the "faith." I as a former Christian (and at one point a five point reformed Calvinistic Christian) said the same thing as you to many other people as well. I am now an agnostic atheist, and am free from dogma! Interpret this passage any way you want to, but here it goes (Hebrews 6:4-8) Your own bible flies in the face of what you claim about djarm67.

  • @gokuhawks14 The fact that you accepted Calvinism tells me that you have no idea of wht true Christianity is. Calvin was a murderous heathen.

  • @gokuhawks14 Flies in the face? There is a word 'IF' in Paul's statement, which brings it right back down to reality. Now piss of, you aren't worth the time of day, you festering pustule.

  • 888 upvotes atm, stop at 999 ... with the subject of the vid this should spark some entertaining fundie comments.

666 is already overshot, last chance to get a good laugh ;-)

  • Wellcome to rationality.

I had compulsory religion all my school years, and was an atheist already at the age of about 14 mainly due to incredulity, I only heard about the BB and evolution about 30 years later.

  • It's nice to see the only two theist biologists on Youtube, Djarm and DonExodus, have both come to their senses. Although, I kind of always had the idea they were both just trying to convince themselves they still believed. It's great when a person is able to stop ltying to themsleves even though it might be hard. I actually read one of Dan Barker's books that was about preists who no longer believe but keep pretending because they're stuck in that life.

  • "He who had no sin became sin for us so we might become the righteousness of God." 11Corin 5:21

I hope, truly from my heart, you one day stop believing the endless theories/ideas for life, death, etc & truly find Jesus Christ & his fulfilling love! If not, your greatest reprimand towards Christianity, "responsibility", will be God's reason to cast you into hell. Repent! John3:16

  • @jqologist - "Do not meddle in the affairs of wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger." - Gildor

I can quote literature too. Your point is what? If it makes you feel good it is real?

  • @jqologist No everything is awesome since I became an atheist. It great to not be around all of the empty, suicidal, confused, alone, selfish, anxious, fearful, hateful, enraged, immoral, used, manipulated, depressed and deceived people in church.

  • @jqologist WOW you were in bad shape. When I was a Jesus believer I was very unhappy and unfulfilled as a person. Now as a non-believer my life is full. Truth is a wonderful thing to live life with. Truth may not be what you want to hear or believe but it is much easier to cope without myths as your guide. Too bad you cannot deal with it. But whatever works for you is what you must do I assume. I hate to hear of anyone that is empty, suicidal, confused, alone, selfish, anxious, fearful......

  • @jqologist You're hilarious. Your comment was a swing and a miss though. Better luck next time. Hopefully you discover the truth of reason before your death. You've only got one life. It's your choice whether to accept this fact or not. Whatever you choose, it still doesn't change this fact. Think about it.

  • WELCOME TO REALITY BROTHER!!! :o)

  • nice work! cheers!

  • ALTHOUGH I'M A CONSERVATIVE CHRISTIAN (Baptist), I no longer believe that the Bible teaches eternal torment or suffering. The Bible teaches eternal punishment, but it's not eternal torment. In my popular Internet article, TRADITIONAL DOCTRINE OF HELL EVOLVED FROM GREEK ROOTS, I explain how and why teaching of eternal torment entered early into Christianity and how Scriptures have been misinterpreted and taken out of context to support that teaching. ~Babu G. Ranganathan (B.A. theology/biology)

  • @Mogley52 FUCK YOU.

  • Interesting. I also grew up without religion, became Christian as an adult, and then got over it. I just spent a lot less time in the faith than you, and (fortunately) didn't have Christian family to complicate my deconversion.

  • Comment removed

  • @Phenom69ll You're spamming, and no one likes it. Fuck off.

  • I'm leaning towards some of your views of the existence of God. Right now I believe the earth we live is our God simply-the earth has all the perfect conditions for a human development. As it takes + N - to produce any form of life. No matter what the theologians say, (God: a supreme name is the very space we fill-EARTH) Yes we need to establish a believe in order to live comfortably: to raise our future generations(which is not truly happening. But at least 60%) better then animals & plants.

  • Keep it real :)

  • Way to go ....you are on the right track........carry on .and ,like me dont worry about HELL lol

  • Brave! It requires a lot of guts to change from christianity to eg atheism.

  • I am really glad to see you had the will enough to break free from the brainwashing of religion, if only every religious person could think freely!!

  • These are not my words these are the words from the very same Bible you once believed in and read: Psalm 14:1-"The fool hath said in his heart there is no God" if the Bible is not true and accurate then why does this verse people who would one day call themselves atheists on the basis of this description.

  • @wrightdevin39 you need to re-write your post so that it makes sense.

  • @timwhite2005 I'm saying if the Bible is not true as claimed by atheists then why does the Bible specifically talk about people who would claim what verse Psalm 14:1 says?

  • @wrightdevin39 It's just common sense that if you want people blindly following nonsense, you will know that some will be smart enough to not buy into the dogmatic claims about the existence of an invisible, magical being.

There have always been the smartest and the least gullible. Why is it a surprise that they would write into their cult literature that these intelligent people were not intelligent?

To successfully con the dim-witted, you have to convince them not to listen to smart people.

  • Dammit now every time I look at an elephant I get thirsty, thanks for that.

  • Congratulations on picking the red pill over the blue pill. Welcome to reality, for all that is good and bad with it.

  • There is something weird at all, where do you go after you die. Also, what is the judgement for people who, for example, killing innocents. Or are they going to have another life? or did the world smiles forever? with nukes everywhere I bet the world will be demolished in just another decade or centuries.

  • @zeppelin8677 No. I dont "believe" in science. Belief implies faith. Accepting scientific explanations as viable hypotheses based on the available evidence requires no faith. If new evidence is presented which falsifies a hypothesis, a new one has to be formed which accounts for all of the evidence.

  • @djarm67 sorry for the bad grammer

  • But,ALL views on the age of the earth depend on a LOT of assumptions.

    E) See this video for concrete evidence that much ID and creation science is peer reviewed and also intentionally lied about by many atheists and evolution.

    watch?v=SgGTsSwje4Y

and there's a humorous expose of the fallacies of the arguments against ID here:

    watch?v=pBLgW3jJC_0

Also, google creationscience Dr. Walt Brown for one of the best online books defending Creation Science and see also nwcreationDOTnet.

  • @djarm67 See my playlists, esp. #1) Why Be a Christian&others like Come Search with Me&the health one (Bible science adds 10+ years to life),history&prophecy ones as well 3 creation science playlists, esp. the Genesis Conflict by a former atheist with a ph.d. in zoology.

    D) There are ~101+ reasons for a young earth. One is soft tissue found in dinosaurs found in fossils, something leading evolutionists say is impossible to last for millions of years (see my playlist on dinosaurs&notes).

  • @djarm67 You seem sincere, but a couple comments:

    A) I'm quite conservative, but some fundamentalist views bother me tremendously, esp. demonic doctrines like eternal hell (see my playlist on hell for the Bible's real teaching on that).

    B) Because politics banned evidence for religion from schools for PURELY political reasons, you can't learn it there..and since most pastors aren't scientists, you can't science evidence in church.

    C) There is VAST evidence for Christianity from many fields.

  • @TruthIsLife7

    A) Hubris - who are you to decide who's interpretation is correct?

    B) If religions had evidence, they wouldn't be able to have faith and so wouldn't be religions.

    C) So much so that you provided no examples. A muslim the other day on here at least tried. He gave me a link to a website saying the Earth would fall apart if it weren't for mountains and that gravity doesn't exist.

I am interested in seeing what you can provide.

  • @djarm67 Can I apologize on behalf of the ignorant consience I had at the time. I. like you, have left Christianity completely. I am also now an atheist.

  • @zeppelin8677 "Welcome to the world of the real" ~ Morphius

  • @zeppelin8677 - Fantastic! For starters, just think of all the money you will save.

The church not having you to fund their multi-million dollar properties and fanatical lifestyles.

Sadly, there are so many people still out there, throwing their lives away. And, their bank accounts as well.

  • @djarm67 - VERY well said!

  • @djarm67 Since a hypothesis cannot be proven, does that not mean you are believing in it?

  • @jbooks888 No.

  • @zeppelin8677 atheist translates to non-theist, meaning does not believe in deities. That's all it means. This could mean a number of things. It could mean, rejection of belief in deities, or it can mean absense of belief in deities etc. Only colloquially amoungst fundamentalist religious peoples does the term take on a life of it's own.

  • @zeppelin8677 "an atheist believes in nothing at all" - Please stop spreading ignorance and lies. An atheist merely doesn't believe in a god... they believe in lots of other things. You know this to be true but you are obviously another lying theist.

  • @mikeyo1234 look. i didnt mean that they completely nothing at all. and im no ignorant theist. im agnostic if anything.

  • @zeppelin8677 Well apologies to you then. I just get sick of correcting people all the time.

  • @cakeisnotanumber i could see how you would get sick of that.

  • @zeppelin8677 Sorry to be abrupt with you when you were well intentioned. Best wishes :)

  • @zeppelin8677 What the hell? An atheist believes that there is no god; they can still arrive at this conclusion through positive beliefs. PZ Myers has a post on his blog entitled "Why are you an atheist?" if you're interested in what these positive beliefs may be.

  • @Setar

    Absolutely.

I think the best way to prove that something is not true is to find something else that you can prove is true, but is mutually exclusive with the other.

This is why theists will almost never give a very exact definition of the gods they believe in, or will change the definition at the drop of a hat. So you can't prove anything that is mutually exclusive.

Or they will give you something foolish, like "god is everything".

  • @TJGuitarVids This shifting of definitions is why I've moved to ignosticism -- the position that the question 'does god exist' cannot yet be answered as 'god' has yet to be coherently defined.

  • @zeppelin8677

The definition of an atheist is a person who does not believe that gods/deities exist.

  • @zeppelin8677 Well I dont believe in any God (s) but I believe in the BBC so what does that make me?

  • @zeppelin8677 an atheist doesn't "believe in nothing at all", they just don't have a theological belief.

  • @zeppelin8677 An atheist doesn't believe in theism, an atheist doesn't believe in gods. That's it. Nothing else follows. It is not a belief system, it is a lack of certain beliefs. What beliefs any atheists hold are separate from their atheism. While many atheists "believe in" science others don't.

  • @zeppelin8677

an atheist is somebody who disbeliefs in god

not nothing. Most Atheists, as a result, accept science. That is all an atheist means - disbelief in god. Give it an extended meaning and it no longer means an atheist.

A naturalist is somebody who studies natural science and history such as biology or zoology. Naturalists can be both religious or atheist or agnostic. See Richard Dawkins, he is a naturalist, evolutionist, and darwinist. But he does not believe in god

  • @zeppelin8677 not true - I am an atheist and I BELIEVE you are a pretentious moron.

    : )

  • @timwhite2005 I'm ok with you saying that, well now of course. I'm an Atheist now (well really Agnostic). The only reason I wrote that comment was because I was very insecure. I wanted to keep my beliefs in God, by puting down Atheist/Evolutinist people.

  • @zeppelin8677 thanks for your reply - makes sense. best of luck to you!

  • When it comes to the worst of religion, your analogy of the pint of beer that must be completely believed to be an elephant reminds me of Room 101 in George Orwell's 1984.

The protagonist/victim is shown 4 fingers by the interrogator under psychological torture. - he is asked "how many fingers?"

    "4"

    "No. There are 5 fingers!!"

He is asked the same question again and says "5" just to get the torture to stop.

But the interrogator is not impressed.

"You must truly BELIEVE there are 5 fingers."

  • Kilkenny! <3

    And elephants.

  • EVEN if you were to return to christianity in the future, or join any other religion for that matter, I for one applaud your decision to step back and take a look at your own belief system and decide to take a break from it, be it for some perspective, to get away from pesky, bothersome (former) church members, or simply to take a break from it and live a little, it's always good to have the will and desire to change and then successfully do it for one's betterment.

    Kudos!

  • Reminds me of my transition.

  • So, your beliefs as a "christian" and/or as an "atheist" are based on nothing? You had no clue why you believed what you did and now you have no clue why you believe what you believe now? Why not dig, (not shallow, I'll find something that fits what I want to believe) really dig, for some truth and let the chips fall where they may?

  • welcome to the real world =)

  • This is a great vid. I often get questions like, 'so you don't want to see your dad again in heaven?' It's not a choice, you believe something or you don't and I don't and haven't believed since I was a child. I remember praying my footie team would win the grand final when I was 7 but stopping because I thought it was pointless.

    I wasn't a conscious atheist then, I just didn't believe.

  • ATHEIST ALERT!!!

If anyone knows Ellis Dean Hovey personally and know where he lives or his phone number, please contact law enforcement and let them know IMMEDIATELY! He has left a suicide note on Facebook. His nickname/username for many years has been and still is PeskyAtheist

  • Well done man! Great video. Welcome to the right side :)

  • good for you sir

always great to see people coming out of delusion

    and embrace reason.

    Happy days to you !

  • Welcome to the dark side. We have cookies!

  • As I've gone to some lengths so explain on my channel, having a 'hope' for some form of continued existence after death - 'some' form - is reasonable. However, organised religion and actions based on 'faith' have always been unacceptable.

If you grew up in a fundamentalist environment and have managed to physically and intellectually escape it, you deserve much praise. We'll all be interested to watch your "Conversion-Deconversion" videos. Let's see if they're as good as Evid3nc3's :).

  • I always assumed you were an atheist because you were so reasonable :)

Teach me to judge a book

  • Kilkenny FTW!

  • Djarm67, I think that "naturalist" is a better word than "atheist." In short, we believe that the natural world is real.

  • @PeterRabbitTV Atheism has nothing to do with the natural world. Atheism is the lack of belief in a God/s.

  • @Trusselz:

Being an "a-theist" myself, I know that. I was explaining the basic definition of the word "naturalism."

  • @PeterRabbitTV I agree! I don't care about theism. Why should I be a-something that I don't have anything to do with?

  • @kimflie:

Finally, someone understands. Thank you so much!

  • @kimflie atheist is just a word to describe people who lack a certain belief, it doesn't mean you actively crusade against religion or anything. Negative atheism is the default position, if you're a baby or an animal, that's what you would be.

  • @kyebean Yes true! But I'm also trying to make a point! Religious people usually think that its they who are standing on flat ground, and that atheists are the ones who have moved on from there and does not "accept" the god. But I've been thinking about religion for a couple of days now, and I guess the reason they hold their beliefs so strongly must be either fear of death or the fear of being nothing bigger or a part of something bigger than themselves. Even though they are arguing elsewise..

  • @kimflie yes, you have to be pretty dense to promote religion scientifically. that said, it doesn't hurt to meet them on that plane. It's like letting a child play with matches a bit until he gets burned and goes back to his toys

  • @kyebean Beautiful example! :-)

  • Nice hat mate!

  • Nice video djarm67. Like the honestly and candidness of your views. Best wishes.

  • To be perfectly honest... I never knew one way or the other when it came to the videos of I've watched from you. The main reason for that was because you simply stood against the forceful ignorance of anti-science nits.

With that said, cheers. World view shifts like that are some of the most interesting things to ever experience. I remember becoming an atheist myself and man... what a roller-coaster of emotions!

  • I would just like to chime in and say that I would be very interested in seeing a conversion-deconversion story. I have had many former-atheists-turned-Christians come to my channel. These people tend to reject atheism on questionable philosophical grounds yet also tend to exercise more rationality than the average Christian on my channel. I always suspected that at least some of these rationally-focused people would return to atheism and it would be fascinating to hear how in detail.

  • @Evid3nc3 I have a hard time believing these christians were truly atheist. If there are some who are actually telling the truth, I would assert they never took a valid and critical look at the bible, and still have not.

  • I'm not claiming to know you at all, but from what I've seen of your videos and interests, I can't say I'm surprised that you finally abandoned Christianity. You are far too rational and you have too much curiosity about the natural world to "believe" anything for too long.

  • You have made a foolish choice by choosing not to believe in God. I hope you will someday find Jesus, who is the way the truth and the life!!! =)

  • @j0hNeeK00l

I found him. He was behind the couch the whole time, the li'l bugger.

  • Good for you! It makes me happy every time I hear somebody stops believing/worshiping imaginary gods!

  • I guess I woke up and just hated you. I didn't have a choice. Your argument is invalid.

Also, you clearly never were a Christian in the Biblical sense.

  • I'm sure you're also a liberal too. Liberalism and atheism usually goes hand in hand

  • i'm not sure what is really in that glass but wanted to let you know you never met God and that is why you still don't believe..i think you will when you least expect it..

  • @sundai73

Don't patronize someone for being honest and for being outspoken about such a sudden change. The man in the video is very civil and responses like this are unwarranted.

  • Congratulations on leaving the belief in imaginary friends behind.

  • That is very courageous of you. I became an atheist about a year ago and it's a very liberating feeling. However, most of my friends abandoned me. Jesus only loves Christians apparently. Even still, I'm happier now.

  • I hope you didn't leave Christianity because all the atheists on youtube pick on you or bug you to become one. You should be whatever the evidence tells you to be...

  • @EvolutionaryMind

Uh no. The journey is not dictated by atheist peer pressure. There's a far more weird dynamic on the christian side that keeps them sheltered from rationalizing any criticism towards their belief. It's not until they start being honest with themselves that they give themselves a chance to look at things in a different angle. Some of these guys are even clever apologists, but fail to use that same tenacity to deconstruct their own rationalization. It's up to them to work it out

  • I hope you didn't leave Christianity because all the atheist on youtube pick on you or bug you to become one. You should be whatever the evidence tells you to be...

  • @brokenthonqsz: No, not really. Aside from the fact that I am a Minister, I also minister through my Magic.

Are you trying to say that sleight of hand and illusion are evil? If so, you should know that by the measure you judge others, you yourself WILL be Judged.

Rejecting Gods plan for Salvaition: FAIL

  • @bRadicalmagic1

That's simply unkind. There's no need to attack or insult someone for their beliefs, or lack thereof! Please keep the heat down.

    Farewell et Pax Vobiscum

  • @JustOneMoreChild: If you are going to accuse my of being unkind then you at least should be specific. As it is, I just don't have a CLUE what your malfunction is.

  • I can see how emotionally painfully this was for you.

Would you like to talk about that ?

I would certainly love to hear about it....

    I loved your conversation with D R. Kumar ....

  • congrats man! :) proud of you.

  • Err, you do realize that you are now damned to hell and a loving god is going to torture you for ever and ever; because he loves you.

Oh well, he's going to do the same to me.

In the mean time, congratulations on breaking free; I look forward to your future videos, and to that end you have a new subscriber.

  • Mmm... Delicious liquid elephant.

  • 666 likes OMSatan!

  • 666 likes and 6 dislikes. coincidence?

  • @thieflord555 you got it one. no question mark needed.

  • I'd like to hear about your conversion/deconversion story :)

  • Welcome to the light side. Nice to have you. =)

  • You do realise you are going to hell now. LOL
