  • I live in the USA and I sent a gift to a person in Canada. When I sent that gift I thought the North American Free Trade Agreement would allow me to send this gift without any duties, taxes, customs, or other fees. Boy was I wrong, Canada customs send me a bill for 26% of the value of the gift!

Is it just me or is it wrong for us to allow Canada to send items to the US duty free, but charge 26% for items that come from the US to Canada! Something is very wrong here.

  • It is the same in Europe Bro. If you buy a car in england it is around 30% cheaper than Ireland but when you bring it into Ireland you get charged duties and tariffs. The government wants free trade when it comes to cheap labour but when the average joe tries to use free trade, he gets screwed!

  • Ya pretty much what the other guy said, but what I have noticed in Canada and US trade relations the big guys seem to have free trade while every small business and joe blow pays duty and taxes out the ass.

Something is extremely wrong and as far as I am concerned it is time to take action! Globalization didn't work the people are the losers on average and our governments are letting it happen.

  • The saying goes.......

there are lies, bigger lies, and then statistics.

  • These statisticians have never had a real job. They are glorified civil servants using your tax dollars to support this meaningless dribble. Obama = Friend of terrrorists

  • It's happening here in the US! Last year my husband's pay went down (still driving an 18 wheeler for the same company for 15 years) to half the pay he made in 2006. Our pay is going down and prices (like gas) are going up! WTF!!!

  • reality is... it will never be the same for the rich as it is for the poor no matter where you live~~~~

  • That's a great video. I don't keep up with Canadian politics and didn't realize that the middle class in Canada was experiencing a similar economic crisis as the U.S. Unlike the U.S., healthcare in Canada is still reasonably priced...right?

  • Don't kid yourself. Statistics Canada has shown, repeatedly, year after year, that the low, middle and upper class all take the same share of the pie they took in 1980...
