What he isn't saying is under this new Health Care Plan the parents or parent with children has to keep there child on there health care plan until they reach the age 26! Congress is on solid Constitutional ground in expanding health insurance coverage in essentially any fashion that is politically and socially feasible.
The individual mandate may well be odious for other reasons without a strong public option, it basically forces everyone to become a customer of a private insurance monopoly. But constitutionality aint one of em.
All the Repugs love the Tenth Amendment, which is usually what they are referring to when they call something unconstitutional (except for, of course, gun control). It says, The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." I'm not a constitutional scholar, but I am not aware of any otherwise valid laws being struck down by the Supreme Court on the basis of that Amendment.

Please google William McGuire, former CEO of United Health. He received a $1.1 billion golden parachute. The reason he was let go was because of a back dating option scandal that ,if not found out, would have netted him $1.6 billion. Guess William couldn't live on the hundreds of millions he made each year. While he was CEO, William was a large contributor to many eleceted officials. Many elected officials line their pockets by choosing not to understand the health care problem.

The case of Robin Beaton in this video is more common than you might think. Even Republican representative Barton would be denied coverage by the health insurance companies if he were to look for an individual plan.
If the health insurance companies and hospital associations invested the $1.4 million a day in giving better care, then they would be making a better statement than just by buying expensive ads and paying lobbyists.
I think they best system will be health saving accounts that employers and government pay into for citizens. The systems should be built to take advantage of the fact that people are healthy more than sick. For example, that woman looked about 40, she probably had 20 years of relatively good health. She would have had 30,000 for her surgery if that insurance premium money had been paid into a HSA instead of a insurance policy for 20 years.
The problem I have with this whole debate is people are not talking about paying for healthcare. They are talking about paying for insurance. Insurance and healthcare is not the same thing. Socialize healthcare drives health providers out of the the system over time. Privatize healthcare drives patients out of systems through cost. Either way less people get the care they need.
Employers paying for health care makes sense when everybody works. But what if the bankers did wanted to make slaves and kill anybody not brainwashed ?
What if the economic depression was artificial ? And done by the same shareholders profiting from your sickness ?
What if the same guys owned medias, the FED and drove the government ?
What if the same guys created all wars for profit ?
What if the Bible was true ? Or The Protocols of Zion a reality ?
