Great courage!!!!! Health care is the most important progressive mission of the 21st Century like Medicare was in 1965. It is horrible to see millions with no health insurance. That is wrong. Mr. Moyers thanks for showing us this.

NO! NO! NO! to this health care bill; it all sounds good when Obama gets on the air waves blowing smoke up people's ASS! What he isn't saying is under this new Health Care Plan the parents or parent with children has to keep there child on there health care plan until they reach the age 26! I've always been a Democrat and even voted for Obama, but I must agree with the rep on this one there is parts of this bill that really "stinks", and the public is in for a very rude awaking should this pass.

Congress is on solid Constitutional ground in expanding health insurance coverage in essentially any fashion that is politically and socially feasible.

The individual mandate may well be odious for other reasons without a strong public option, it basically forces everyone to become a customer of a private insurance monopoly. But constitutionality aint one of em.

All the Repugs love the Tenth Amendment, which is usually what they are referring to when they call something unconstitutional (except for, of course, gun control). It says, The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." I'm not a constitutional scholar, but I am not aware of any otherwise valid laws being struck down by the Supreme Court on the basis of that Amendment.

The words "socialism" or "unconstitutional", are bogus. The Medical industry spends $1.4 million A DAY, of YOUR PREMIUMS, to defeat the people's wishes, this health care reform inititive! I was denied coverage for new dentures because it was, "cosmetic". Cosmetic? Do you mind if I eat? I've been paying insurance premiums for over forty years.

The CEOs think $10 million a year is not too much. Who are these people? The constitution provides for the "people's welfare" and "common good".

Watching this debate play out from Canada is sad. The blatant lies that Americans have been told about our health care system would be funny if they weren't so full of evil intent.

Sadly, there is no hope that Obama will have the courage to confront and shame the many members of congress who have been bought and paid for by the health care industry.

Meanwhile, Canada (along with most civilized countries) will continue to enjoy the competitive advantage of universal health care.

Repeat after me, people are not a commodity! However, the insurance companies have done a fabulous job convincing people that they are nothing but a commodity. It is hard to believe that people are still concerned with the pennies in their own pockets rather than saving a lives.

Medicare needs to be available to all who want it as a public option, thereby reducing the rates seniors pay and give access to millions who want an affordable no nonsense insurance plan.

Obama will consolidate banks under the privately-run Federal Reserve.

When the USA was founded, it was a Republic. Now it is a Fascist regime. Corporations control DC. We enter wars with false flag attacks so our corporations can prosper. Our elected officials keep health insurance corps. in place because they spend $1.4 million a day in lobbying efforts and line their pockets with blood money. The $1.4 million comes from denying care to a patient who paid premiums for care. Elected officials who take this payoff are just as guilty as those who pay it out.

Please google William McGuire, former CEO of United Health. He received a $1.1 billion golden parachute. The reason he was let go was because of a back dating option scandal that ,if not found out, would have netted him $1.6 billion. Guess William couldn't live on the hundreds of millions he made each year. While he was CEO, William was a large contributor to many eleceted officials. Many elected officials line their pockets by choosing not to understand the health care problem.

The case of Robin Beaton in this video is more common than you might think. Even Republican representative Barton would be denied coverage by the health insurance companies if he were to look for an individual plan.

If the health insurance companies and hospital associations invested the $1.4 million a day in giving better care, then they would be making a better statement than just by buying expensive ads and paying lobbyists.

I think they best system will be health saving accounts that employers and government pay into for citizens. The systems should be built to take advantage of the fact that people are healthy more than sick. For example, that woman looked about 40, she probably had 20 years of relatively good health. She would have had 30,000 for her surgery if that insurance premium money had been paid into a HSA instead of a insurance policy for 20 years.

The problem I have with this whole debate is people are not talking about paying for healthcare. They are talking about paying for insurance. Insurance and healthcare is not the same thing. Socialize healthcare drives health providers out of the the system over time. Privatize healthcare drives patients out of systems through cost. Either way less people get the care they need.
