Depends on how the water is behaving. Board is probably fine unless the mast hit the bottom. Regardless I think the rig would snap, trashing the sail and mast. There are vast forces at work in a wave that size. Vast.

No this is indeed real, and out of place the windsurfer? Hardly, this spot is known as Jaws and it resides on the north shore of Maui. Prior to tow in surfing it was strictly a windsurfing spot. He would have made that wave had the surfer not been there, but unfortunately for him that wasn't the case. Stan you obviously are a newbie. In that situation you would want to get as far away from your windsurf equipment as possible.

Both amazing sports. No matter what, this doesn't demonstrate why you shouldn't windsurf big waves. This just shows how priority here is important. The windsurfer clearly delays not to get in front of the surfer or crash with him. That's what held him back in my opinion...otherwise he would have been sucedded. There are no born pro windsurfers. The windsurfer it real, I'm pretty sure it is/was Doug Hunt. The winds were holwing straight offshore and once he dropped off the wave face and into the trough, the wind dropped to nothing and he had nowhere to go. I'm also pretty sure the tow-in guy and windsurfer were on the same wave under the direction of a film producer.
