there have been elevators like that. They use linear induction motors to move from side to side.

This elevator is called "Shining Elevator".

By this elevator, it take you from the first floor under the ground to the 60th floor (240m) with the observatory in 35 seconds.

Until 1993, it was the elevator of the world highest speed, and this is made in Mitsubishi Electric, and 600m per minute maximum speed is (speed per hour conversion, 36km/h).

both the sprinter and the lift will have to accelerate and decelerate~ so its roughly the same acceleration and deceleration for both the lift n sprinter~ :)

At 600 meters per minute (10 meters per second) that really is a fast high-speed traction elevator. I believe it is a Mitsubishi elevator.
