I think there are a lot of them-- I think most of them are. But I think you have the preconceived notion stereotypes are based on truth.
What this represents is the fact that the very impoverished blacks obtain welfare at a higher rate. But blacks only have 24% of its population who are impoverished. There are 44 million blacks in american and 76% of them make above 32k a year. Also blacks go to college at a higher rate than whites (but we also drop out of college at a higher rate).
Also while you are looking at how high the poor blacks are on welfare, look at the fact that more of us go to college than whites. And even with a system that is obviously is not for us we are still succeeding. So it is clear that you only looked at the negative aspect of the census and did not even bother to look at our achievements.

Yes.... I do still feel like the system is not designed for us. Of course I feel this way. I know what discrimination feels like. I paid my way thru college (I still have the student loans to prove it). I got a "real" degree in a respectable field (science/biological). And after working in the corporate environment for many years, I have felt alot of discrimination.
I have 9 siblings. 1 computer engineer, 1 lawyer, 2 entrepreneurs, 1 scientist, 1 teacher, 1 financial analyst, 1 manager and 1 minimum wage earner. And every last one of them have experienced racism in either the work place, personal life or in dealings with state/city institutions (banks/police). Is it a coincidence that even tho we are accomplished, married, good credit having and established individuals have the same problems as our less fortunate brethren? NO!

Another white guy came through my line and started to pay me a compliment by saying I didn't speak like "most blacks" because I spoke well. He then said sometimes blacks can fool you because he had once met a black guy who looked like a "silverback gorilla" but when he spoke he was suprised to hear a British accent.
One day an old lady came through my line and asked was I going to visit my mother for mothers day. I said yes. She then said she knew I couldn't wait to get my mommas fried chicken. I informed her my mother cooked a variety of dishes not just chicken.
