I don't understand why these savants don't monetize their memory and/or math skills. There are many applications that don't involve much ill-fated interpersonal interactions: game shows like Jeopardy where they give you questions before hand, counting cards (Rain Man), becoming a particle physicist...there are endless applications for these skills. Usually its the brain wave patterns that favors one side of the brain, left side of the brain being math and logic and right being creativity or visual perception. In cases like stephen the right side of his brain is so visually active it suppresses his left side leaving him with the abilitys to attain every little bit of detail he sees.

hmm, it may not be an exceedingly great display of using the brain but it could also be an anomally of using just the eyes-brain communication turning off every other senses the guy has.
