@02mustang38v6 Torque comes in at different RPMs as well. You don't always get maximum torque. In fact, by the time you've reached the redline, you're at max HP, when you've already lost a lot of torque. Max torque usually comes somewhere in the middle. And in the end, HP determines your max speed.
@CarbineGuy yes, for this engine max torque is at 2,750 rpm so this engine has quite a bit of low end torque but not as much high end. HP doesn't matter as much to me since I never go to max speed, And torque is what has the greatest impact on acceleration.
@02mustang38v6 I don't care what matters to you, 90% of the time, the car with the most horsepower, no matter where it comes in in the rev range, will win in a sprint to 60. And quarter mile times, and top speed. I'll take horsepower over torque any day.
@CarbineGuy you missunderstand, without torque it will take you forever to reach the redline where HP is highest, so if you have minimum torque but a high redline you will accelerate slowly and have a lot of HP, if you have a lot of torque and lower redline you will accelerate quickly but have to make more use of gearing to get a high top speed and possibly not have as much HP. without torque there is no horsepower and your car will not move and that is a fact.
