he is me .. i m him .. this is for jim and ben "those are people who have died, died. those are people who have died died . and for redheads all over the world ..
I loved this song and can't believe all these years later I have heard it on Youtube..so thanks ..and by the way...whoever the couple are..bloody good taste !
Slightly strange to see this, as I wrote this song over thirty years ago. There is quite a good version by my band, 23 Jewels. The vinyl 7" is probably worth a few bob nowadays.
Sometimes you have to accept that you don't own your own baby! Heartfelt thanks to Any Trouble/Clive Gregson for bringing this song into the world but a far superior rendition was recorded by Billy Karloff & The Extremes on their Vinyl Solution ablum which never saw daylight...so why am I saying this if you have so little chance of hearing it...I hope one day you will!
I don't see the purpose of this other than a young couple enjoying an Any Trouble record. (Good taste, by the way.) However, I'm rating this upload highly by virtue of the fact that the young woman is stunningly beautiful. I can say this because I'm half a world away and he can't punch me in the nose.
any buddy who knows playing bogart well enough to play perfectly timed air drums, air guitar, and air vocals (& real vocals too?) is ok with me.
& you're both bouncy dancers.
like this punk version but any trouble also did a slow version on another release of theirs that was even better i-m-o, tho perhaps less youtube video friendly.
I've never been able to quite get the lyric at 1:51 "Let me out into the night time, should be returning home, **** ***** ***** don't walk back slowly in the dark" sounds like "oh martyrs seperates" but that ain't right. Can't find it on any of the lyrics sites. "Mr" Hobditch knows what he's singing... anyone??
Erm... can't honestly say I DO know that bit- just mumble my way through it by singing something very much like 'oh martyrs seperates' or 'am I too seperate'...! Sorry, can't help!
Ah well, thanks any way. Pretty sure my vinyl copy didn't come with lyrics (where ever it may be). Waiting for the CD to arrive from Uncle Amazon, we'll see. Keep up the vids. They brighten the day!
It's amazing this Internet thing... so I look up Nick Simpson (the composer) and find I can leave a message. The splendid chap that he is replies (although doesn't guarantee accuracy due to the years passing). "Let me out into the night time, traffic returning home, all martyrs ever as I walk back slowly through the park". Brilliant.
and now, my dear father, that you have the complete lyrics, would you be so kind to share it with the non english spoken community (or at least with me) :-)
@FatherTiresias I listened to it a few dozen times and couldn't make it out either. I looked it up and saw it might be "all martyrs suffer as I walk..." (although even that sounds wrong when listening, so who knows)
Nice one. Great song. "Got that Friday 7:30 feeling in my bones" was our catch phrase in the late 70's. All we ever got was some half way decent beer.
I think it is "all martyrs ever as I walk back through the park". I guess he is the 'martyr' because he didn't get the girl.

Some good person has put the original by 23 Jewels on Youtube. Not as polished as Any Trouble, but great to hear it again.

Song - awesome
Interpretation - the chick can't dance and has no sense of rhythm, the guy can't sing or dance

Very kind words, mate. You take colloquial text message language to another level, dude. I'm still stuck in a punctuation/classic song rut!! x

I have the original by student band 23 Jewels. Absolutely wonderful. I think the song's writer did some work with Any Trouble after Uni.
