  • I remember doing a book report about the Baby Harp Seal .. I dont' know how anyone could harm anything so cute.. let alone I rescue Raccoons that stuck in the trash cans at our Metro Parks in Detroit.. I guess I believe we should treat animals like what if that was me attitude..

  • These seals are so fluffy, they are like little snowballs and blubber lumps :3

  • I'm kinda dumb, but basically, is all seal hunting over now??? I didn't really catch that in the video

  • YES! Just YES these cute things can live their lives in peace! <8'D

  • what about the poor cows... and the piggies... what about the chickens?

  • I think you have to have a black heart to kill something so cute and fluffy.

  • Most of canada is not for the Seal hunt I find it funny when people from the USA go on there where all out killing Seals.

But I do find it funny baby Lambs are killed in mass numbers in the USA and a bunch of people from there call uu out and do nothing about the Lambs who have white coats as well but there killed in doors so it is ok

  • @CanucksCup2010 that's because lambs aren't as cute as seals. also, where did you even hear that?

  • so is clubbing still exist ???????? HOPE NOT

  • NOT THE SEALS!!!!

and i thought you canadians were peaceful

are their any canadians here who are glad that the slaughter of adorable seals has stopped or is stopping?

  • @zanpaktousymphony10 EDMONTON, ALBERTA. Happy too hear the great news...now lets help the wild life conservation an protection act shut down the tar sands....

  • I hope this continues. I would love to see it stopped all together..

  • who would wanna hurt them so cute and the hunters dont get me started

  • oh my goodness... the poor thing bleeding running across the ice ::::(

  • In recent years, 11 countries have banned their trade in seal products or announced their intentions to do so. They join the United States, which prohibited seal product trade in 1972.

I am very happy, that the European Union does the same thing, and shut the door before the suffering.

  • Oh please. I dont like kids and don't find most of them to be exceptionally cute, but even when they're behind me in line at the grocery store and screaming like a god damn banshee and make me want to burst my own ear drums, I still wouldnt promote clubbing THEM over the head.

  • why is canada only place its legal to kill seals or polar bears ben it they canot protect them selfs so plp who hunt take advantage of it > to make money hmm sad i hope those plp burn in hell for all times

  • they're just seals! you only care about them because they are cute. I dont see anyone stepping up for the trillions of termites gassed to death by extermanitors.

  • yes but seals have a rite to live as much as we do and yes again u r rite termites and things like those have a rite 2 live as well, i c nothin wrong with killing, unless for selfish reasons which does not go for natures rules such as seal hunting which seen as a sport

  • there is a difference and you know it

  • NO! They may be cute but they are living things! THEY HAVE FEELINGS!

  • Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaatt??????? are u for real???? they are killing the seals just for the theyy'r skin, fur, and ur comparing them to termites??? OMG

  • Or farm animals.

  • Avengemm, lame comparison. Termites cause millions of dollars worth of damage to homes yearly. Seals don't hurt anyone or anything.

  • @avengemm9dog maybe cos stuff like termites (bite through wood, bite you,lay in your bed, give you diseases, give u nits/fleas) so why wouldnt we be happy for termites being gassed :)

  • @jakeharrop779 gassing is inhumane to do to ANY living thing... the Holocaust proved that beyond all doubt.... HOWEVER, the cruel use of gas chambers does continue in some animal shelters in the USA.... but we are also working on trying to stop that too.

  • thoes seals are adorable!! how could any person hurt something so sweet and innocest. why would they do that, thoes people have so souls!

  • the only thing changed is they wont be sold now, dont trick urself into thinking they will live, the fisherman wont let seals eat theyre livlihood!

  • I am glad that this has passed, sea hunting is senseless and cruel in by the method its done. Canada should be ashamed for even letting this go on, what a dreadful country, they had seal hunt, horse slaughter and they have no protection for their wild horse population up there. Not only should the E.U ban we should ban them too and even turn them around when they try to cross or borders, after all we needs them anyway!!!!

  • thank you HSUS for your outreach & showing the world that every voice makes a difference <3

  • seals ftw!

  • well if you shoot something it (usually) dies instantly, clubbing something is just unnecessary

  • Thank God!

  • How is this a victory ???? no matter what Fishermen will kill the species who take a living away from their tables.

I love how the Anti sealing industry which is actually bigger then the sealing industry can hoodwink neive people around the world for enrich these people who dont make a legit living

  • God bless the European Union! I am in tears here! Seals are so beautiful, and amazing! They deserve to be left alone--to live free. When I see them being slaughtered [out of greed], I get so angry, it's so wrong! Their fur is not a fashion commodity! People who support fur should be ashamed of themselves. I am the happiest girl in the world right now! Thank you to all those who voted to ban this barbaric tradition! A stand for animals is the greatest thing in the world! God bless you!

  • Yah! I'm glad it was stopped!

  • wo0o0o0o0o0ot!! :D at last the bloodshed is over! HUGE thanks to EUP and all who contributed in making this happen ^^

  • we're so excited the that EU has banned seal products from member countries. While this alone won't end the senseless slaughter, it may be the "death blow" to the horrible seal industry. Let the Canadian government now work to provide sealers with viable economic alternatives, and leave those babies alone!

  • um if i may . how dare u condemn Canada based on a small commercial sector Canada is full of brave kind people, if anything the thing that should be addresses is the brutality of hunting for fun, they shoot the deer get a picture with it chop off its head and stick it on the wall, its not like they need to hunt but they do it for fun and no one gives a damn but when a cute little fuzzy animal its different and how dare they, how dare you speak against a country when urs has its own shame

  • Yes, all countries still engage in shameful acts of animal abuse, the U.S. included (factory farms, fur farms, etc). But the seal clubbing has become synonymous with Canada, and it's up to Canadians to vote it out of existence. Since they have not in over 50 years, it remains a national disgrace upon your country.

Hopefully it will soon be a part of history, and you can all be proud. Until then the despicable clubbing still stirs anger.

  • No one is condemning Canada! Everyone realizes that cruelty directed towards animals can be found all over the world (besides, I'm sure that there are many animal lovers among the Canadians, too). Trying to prevent those poor seals being clubbed to death is probably just one cause of HSUS (as I understand, they are involved in many other campaigns saveguarding animal rights). So, try not to take it so personally

  • I'm having like, an eletric feel!

HSUS, I'm proud of helping this project.

  • I'm so proud I come from Europe

  • wow 5 decades??? my hats off to you guys!!! i wish i had known about this sooner i would have donated!!! i am sooo happy for you, more importantly the seals!!!

  • yay hopefully it will soon be completely banned

    those poor baby seals :(

  • About time, good news...

  • Yesssss!

  • Good stuff. Nature is important, it's our home

  • Yay!! Seals are so cute how can anyone club them to death????

  • Spiders are soo cute...how could anyone squeeze them to death in their hands? Or tear each of their legs off and watch them wobble? All viewed as less disgusting than this because you condition yourself to think the seal is better and more important than the spider....CAUSE ITS FLUFFY AND "CUTE" in your mind.

lets be negative. i see them as the weak ones who wont survive cause they are not genetically built to defend themselves from clubbers. (until they develop weapons....) so kill em now.

  • What a thoughtless comment.

  • thank you for speaking out for those who cannot speak for themselves! thanks for doing something to protect these beautiful animals! thanks for trying to stop this cruelty! I really admire your work (I for sure would not have the strength to witness such abominations year after year, and not go insane)

  • Now I feel there are some humans in canada!

keep up the good work I too signed the pettition & forwarded to as many as people as possible.

its was not just signing but it was more I was praying for these innocent seals. hope to hear more good news soon!

  • @viki164 your damn right! im canadian and i hate killing or watching animals die. so you are right there are some HUMANS in canada =)

  • @rayrhinohair Seals are one of my favorate animals. They look so soft and cuddly.

  • Thank god! Stand up for the animals, they have no voice. Let us be their voice! If they had a voice I'm sure they would be asking us to stop this. And I'm glad that this seems to be heading up hill for the seals. I hope one day all of them can grow up to be healthy seals and live long enough to see the ocean. <3
