  • love how the strings just sit there!!!

  • I saw this concert on PBS when it first aired. Only Wynton Marsalis could have come up with the idea of merging the two music styles together. I wish it were available on DVD. Thanks for posting!!

  • Love the expressions on the classical musicians' faces.

  • Is Wynton crying?

  • Jazz, jazz, jazz! I could hear this all day long! ♥

  • This IS NOT a SWING (which is what I was looking for in the first place). This is a suite...thanks for the post, though

  • @cipote10 Dude, the "Nutcracker Swing" is just a knockoff name. Just like how all the Ellington versions of Tchaikovsky's movements have knockoff names.

  • @cipote10 did you listen all the way through the video when the Lincoln center jazz orchestra takes over and plays the same movement in a swing fashion?

  • I can play this song on the trumpet, just a few notes lower. super easy......

  • I agree, an excellent collaboration between Ellington and Strayhorn. I just wish there were some video recordings of the Ellington orchestra performing this suite.

  • @samskorach I don't know if there are any videos, sadly. I actually have found it difficult to find the recordings of the entire suite. It just swings like crazy...

  • The Ellington Suite - rarely heard. Brilliant positioning the original with the Ellington. *Fantastic* post.

  • Strepitosi!!
